My next "new" car will be a well-maintained Škoda Fabia or Octavia from anywhere between 2000-2010. Simple, easy to maintain and repair at home, and no bullshit. A Honda Civic or Accord of the same vintage would also do nicely.
Half the blue-collar guys I know in the States are trying to beg, borrow, or steal an imported used Kei truck.
Several people have mentioned that if there was an EV that came with basic instruments and manual controls, they'd buy immediately.
I don't want the starship Enterprise, I want a Piper Cub.
