For an influencer, that girl was not even annoying (in this video at least), if she just wants a picture of her with the paintings for instagram, it's ok. She was not bothering anyone. Karen on the other hand, went out of her way to be annoying.

Is she even an "influencer" (we need a better word) she could just be a normal person who wants a photo of their travels

Edit: content creator works much better imo

Anyone remember the ancient times when we would have to ask strangers to hold our cameras and take a picture for us? This doesn't seem like it's set up in people's way and it doesn't seem busy. Let the person get a good picture of themself doing something they like. They are bothering you less than if you asked them to take the pic for you.

u/youburyitidigitup Aug 30 '26

Interestingly, early photographers didn’t need to do that because it took minutes or hours to take one single photo anyway. Point and shoot cameras came about in the 1910s.

lol should ask the lady if she can help. “Sorry miss could you help me take a picture? Im a solo traveller just wanted some photos for memories. But this tripod actually has terrible angles.”

2

u/Lucidorex Aug 30 '26

I literally asked strangers to take pictures of us in Estonia earlier this month. It might be less common now, but people still do it.

1

u/t00t1r3d Aug 30 '26

Seems a lot easier than carrying around a tripod and hoping someone doesn't knock it over but I'd also be afraid someone would just take off with my phone if I handed it to them for a pic

u/No_Dust_1630 Aug 30 '26

Yeah there's really nothing wrong with that

-30

u/KaleidoscopeMaster81 Aug 30 '26

You guys don't go to museums lol

It's against the rules to take photos.

29

u/Skeleton--Jelly Aug 30 '26

-22

u/KaleidoscopeMaster81 Aug 30 '26

Nope. I'm telling ya, at big museums it's not allowed. Look it up, it has to do with copyright laws because most of the artwork is imported and on a loan.

At local art museums I'm sure the rules are more lenient. However, this doesn't look like a local art museum.

21

u/Skeleton--Jelly Aug 30 '26

Have you ever heard of this small local art museum called the Louvre?

https://www.louvre.fr/en/visit/museum-rules

11

u/CodnmeDuchess Aug 30 '26

You’re wrong. There are like a couple major museums that ban photography, and some might have specific rules for specific exhibits, but there are essentially no major world museums that blanket ban all photography outright.

3

u/Mission_Aerie_5384 Aug 30 '26

As if there’s not 10,000 new photos of the Mona Lisa every day 😂 photographs in museums are completely normal

17

u/Obvious_Badger_9874 Aug 30 '26

Bro i know museums that have photo lines

-11

u/KaleidoscopeMaster81 Aug 30 '26

For specific exhibits or are there lines for every painting?

4

u/Obvious_Badger_9874 Aug 30 '26

Specific, the popular ones

18

u/whattaninja Aug 30 '26

That’s not correct. Most allow photography, just no flash.

4

u/bleucheez Aug 30 '26

Photos are almost always allowed. Flash is not allowed.

3

u/CodnmeDuchess Aug 30 '26

No it isn’t lol. Some museums ban flash photography, but the vast majority of major museums in the world do not ban photos all together. You’re talking out of your ass.

1

u/--Andre-The-Giant-- Aug 30 '26

I've been to three museums this summer and have photographs inside all of them. Are you sure that you're as cultured as you claim?

92

u/guynichole Aug 30 '26

She is. She’s a Brazilian YouTuber/TikToker who makes educational history content. Her name is Debora Aladdin. But influencer or not, she wasn’t bothering anyone.

0

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 Aug 30 '26

When did we start calling someone making educational content online an influencer?

Jesus Christ might as well have called Mr Rogers an influencer

10

u/guynichole Aug 30 '26

If Mr. Rogers’ primary following was on social media, then he’d be an influencer too. I don’t understand why a positive or educational influencer is such a confusing concept.

-1

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 Aug 30 '26

Because it's not what influencer means. Is Ms Rachel an influencer? Was Bob Ross? Steve Irwin?

0

u/Banana-phone15 Aug 31 '26

Social media didn’t exist during Mr.Roger’s time. So you are wrong. He was a media personality but that far from social media.

-4

u/Woerx Aug 30 '26

Every single post is her face, sooo educational

7

u/guynichole Aug 30 '26

Even not speaking Portuguese, I can clearly see from this screenshot alone two posts about Nazis which likely directs you to her YouTube channel, a post about antique watches, a post about the banned book “The Suffering of Young Werther”, and a trip to the Great Sphinx of Giza. What do you want her to do, wear a paper bag over her head?

-5

u/Woerx Aug 30 '26

1

u/Banana-phone15 Aug 31 '26

I don’t know why you are getting downvoted but

-9

u/sliver013 Aug 30 '26

I mean...she was obviously bothering someone. Whether or not that's reasonable is another question.

-5

u/Adventurous-Meat8067 Aug 30 '26

Obviously she was

-3

u/connvex Aug 30 '26

She is definitely bothering the old people.

-12

u/thisnameismine1 Aug 30 '26

In my head that makes her not an influencer. To be one I think you need the qualifications of a Kardashian i.e. the ONLY thing you give back to the world is carbon dioxide.

14

u/guynichole Aug 30 '26

I mean, by definition, she’s an influencer. The word “influencer” carries a negative connotation now because of people like you described. But Débora has 2 million instagram followers and built her following entirely online. She’s an influencer with positive influence.

-5

u/thisnameismine1 Aug 30 '26

What is she influenceing people to do? It carries a negative connotation because the word implies that their job is to influence the public to have the opinions of whoever is paying them. They used to be called advertising executives.

13

u/CarpeNivem Aug 30 '26

What is she influencing people to do?

I only just learned she exists, but it seems like, learn more about art and history.

9

u/OArouraiousMou Aug 30 '26

she talks about history

7

u/Weary-Office6078 Aug 30 '26

What is she influenceing people to do?

buy things. ultimately all influencers are in the business of advertising e.g. this ad for a clock www.instagram.com/p/Dbtq5Z4CPMx/ promotion for the Odyssey movie www.instagram.com/p/Dalo3BeCMli/ clothing ad www.instagram.com/p/DZYXNXpiDJO/ she sells her own course https://deboraaladim.com.br/

on top of the advertising revenue from her presence on various platforms that serve ads

4

u/HiddenSecretStash Aug 30 '26

Do you know what an influence is by definition? Do you klow the difference between a good influence and a bad influence? Did you know that teachers and celebrities by definition are influencers?

42

u/ZealousidealTill2355 Aug 30 '26

Exactly. If I saw someone setting up alone like that I’d offer to take it. Not stand in the way like some righteous better than thou.

2

u/Ohboycats Aug 30 '26

I RUN when I see someone filming content. I don’t want to be in their video.

-11

u/--Andre-The-Giant-- Aug 30 '26

You guys are all assuming 70-year-olds understand technology, huh?

4

u/ZealousidealTill2355 Aug 30 '26

Who needs to assume when she looks right at the phone as she retrieves her own?

-7

u/--Andre-The-Giant-- Aug 30 '26

You are still putting a whole lot of credit into a 70-year-old lady's brain. I'm still feeling like you don't interact with many elderly people.

You'll notice that she looked and saw the camera was there, and made a confused look on her face, but I'm guessing you didn't notice the second part. She also doesn't look back at the woman or the phone again, only moves closer to the phone to get out of the way of the other elderly woman, and puts her phone away without looking back to the camera or at the woman who is walking to retrieve it.

When people of that age are trying to make a point, they do not do it silently.

5

u/ZealousidealTill2355 Aug 30 '26 edited Aug 30 '26

You are reading way way into it and making a ton of assumptions to come to a predetermined conclusion rather than looking at the evidence.

And she doesn’t move out of the way, she moves right to where the girl was standing to block her.

- No one stops on stairs to check their phone, unless they’re already inconsiderate.

- They certainly don’t do so when someone is obviously setting up for a picture.

- If the phone was backside, she’d probably look back. Since it’s a selfie, and the cameras view is displayed clear on the screen there isn’t a need for that—right?

But sure, ignore all that and she’s innocent for sure guy

-5

u/--Andre-The-Giant-- Aug 30 '26

No, you're just seeing what you'd like to see. You're incorrect.

2

u/ZealousidealTill2355 Aug 30 '26

Again, thousands of comments showing that many more have my take— but we’ll ignore that evidence to say I’m wrong.

OK Boomer, you can enjoy your lala land. Leave me out of it.

0

u/--Andre-The-Giant-- Aug 30 '26

And right to the insults.

Did you follow the textbook on how to react when people don't share your opinion?

Are you slow? She looked right at the camera. She knew wtf she was doing

0

u/--Andre-The-Giant-- Aug 30 '26

Here's another one with the name calling. It's okay that some people don't share your opinion. She looks at the camera and looks confused. Sorry that you're not picking that up.

1

u/SnooMaps6831 Aug 30 '26

And it was all bad acting. Again she knew what she was doing

0

u/--Andre-The-Giant-- Aug 30 '26

Oh okay, now it's bad acting...

Sure, just change your entire perspective to see if that'll help you forward your position.lol.

1

u/SnooMaps6831 Aug 30 '26

Wtf? My perspective never changed..... I'm just pointing out that you fell for her bad acting skills. The slow comment was just a jab. But I'm starting to think it's accurate

0

u/--Andre-The-Giant-- Aug 30 '26

Yeah, that's totally the point you made in your first sentence. Totally didn't evolve from they were ruining their day to they are just acting. Yeah that never happened just above where you wrote it...

1

u/SnooMaps6831 Aug 30 '26

Yep you're slow af

She’s an influencer on the education niche in Brazil (that’s the best way I found to describe)

1

u/Long-Conflict8279 Aug 30 '26

Content creator is just a fancy term for influencer. Both are equally cringey.

1

u/ziostraccette Aug 31 '26

She could be the queen of england for what I care. Old lady saw the camera and decided to stand in the way.

1

u/hightrix Aug 30 '26

A normal person wouldn’t post this online.

0

u/waznpride Aug 30 '26

That's how you get your phone stolen by leaving it far away from you in a public place.

-2

u/Oct0tron Aug 30 '26

That's cool, but there's no reason to set your phone up and pose across the room for it and block all the traffic. Phones have a self-facing camera for this exact purpose.

1

u/thisnameismine1 Aug 30 '26

The reason is to get the room in a wide shot... She didn't block the traffic, the traffic blocked her.

0

u/OnlyBaseball5426 Sep 01 '26

There’s a wide shot setting built into the camera
