Did we forget Ethan Slater left his highschool sweetheart wife of 10 years with their newborn, for Ariana Grande?

That dude threw it all away and they're not even together anymore. Absolutely insane lack of loyalty

I mean what do you expect from a woman who literally made a song called "break up with your girlfriend I'm bored"

It's really hard to seperate the art from the artist nowadays WHEN EVERY ARTIST IS LIVING THEIR ART.

She thank you nexted Ethan as soon as the movie tour was over. What an idiot

I don't disagree that she's evil, but "what do we expect from a woman..." Buddy, Ethan is the bigger villain here. HE left his wife for Ariana. Why are we demonizing the woman over the man who actually owed the woman he was with loyalty?

because she knew he was a taken man.

If she made the advance she is what's called a "homewrecker" with little to no regard for his wife. god knows what psychological tricks she ay or may not have played to wean him off her.

If HE made the advance, then yes he is the bigger evil but she is still at fault for willingly being game with it rather than shutting him down or telling his wife "yo your man's unfaithful"

I don't disagree. I said that. I despise homewreckers. But acting like both the cheater and the affair partner are on equal footing is ridiculous. The cheater is infinitely shittier than the affair partner, even if I hate to admit that myself, having been cheated on. It's just disgustingly insane how people will jump through hoops to make her the bigger bad guy. This happens every time a woman is in a scandal like this. She's not cool, no. But Ethan deserves the brunt of the hate. He's the one that left his wife, and coming up with head canons about "how she must've manipulated him" is diabolical. He's a grown ass man.

They're flaming you, but you're absolutely right.

Oh, I know. But thank you for sticking up for my point. People love to backtrack and go "oh this comment wasn't from a sexist place" when it absolutely is, and sexism influences how people view cheaters and homewreckers a lot. Women are slammed far more, and far harder for either of these acts than their male counterparts, period. Everyone is a progressive and "woke" right up until has to do with introspection on internal sexism that taints how you view women, even in small ways. They always jump to "oh so women can do no wrong?" When the real issue is "why the fuck are you SO angry when a woman does XYZ vs when a man does the same exact thing?"

You stink. Yes she would be a homewrecker and that's bad. Genuinely I'm not disproving that.

But this was a married man. A man who swore loyalty and spent time nurturing a relationship with another woman. He's very much at fault and the bigger evil to begin with. "god knows what psychological tricks she may have played" dude this is a whole ass grown man. He's responsible for his own actions. He's the one who betrayed years of love and an oath made to his wife, not Ariana.

She's bad as well but immediately talking about her and not the man who left his family behind is a very odd choice and doesn't improve the image this sub has of being full of incels or incel bait.

but immediately talking about her and not the man who left his family behind is a very odd choice and doesn't improve the image this sub has of being full of incels or incel bait.

Congratulations, you're a sexist. Nobody except you made this about gender and my opinion on this matter would have stayed the same if the gender roles were reversed. The same way I have always seen Mauro Icardi as the bigger evil when he homewrecked Maxi Lopez (his best friend and mentor) by stealing his wife and kids from him. Even though it was Wanda Nara who was ultimately the one leaving her family behind.

Your immediate assumption that this is somehow about genders rather than the action disgusts me

Lol. That's not what being a sexist is. If your read the comments, you get a certain idea of people's views on this sub.

Bringing up gender doesn't mean one is a sexist immediately. You don't point fingers at people who analyze situations through the lens of gender which is still a part of how society functions and shapes people and call them sexist. Gender is a valid way to analyze certain topics and I did because I see a certain hypocrisy in the way some people talk on here.

Pay attention, like literally read this thread. The vitriol Ariana receives isn't entirely unwarranted, as the homewrecker. But in the supposed situation of the original post, the homewrecker would be Yamal. But the one who gets more shit in this comment section is not Yamal. It's the woman. Yamal is barely really mentioned.

I never excused the action. Nowhere did I imply being a homewrecker wasn't evil in itself.

What I criticize is how the first thing said is "what do you expect from a woman". You may not actually be sexist and I apologize in that case, I know you're referring to a song of hers. But when you have in mind the double standard from this entire section, it's hard not to interpret your comment wrongly.

Because you assume very quickly that she may have pulled some crazy psychological manipulation tricks to get him and she'd be the bigger evil. But that's a grown ass man you're talking about who spent years upon years with one woman. Ethan is the cheater. I don't understand why he's not the first person mentioned or the first person blamed for the situation.

I don't care if someone makes advances if I'm dating someone else I turn them down and that's it. I'm not going to pretend I have less responsibility because the other played tricks on me like being charming or something. I don't have less responsibility either if the other person flirts with me first, if I end up accepting it I'm the bigger evil because the expectations to be loyal are on me not the other dude even if he's bad too if he knew I was already in a relationship. The only exceptions to those "tricks" to get someone would literally be abuse or threats. And that's a lot to assume about someone.

"If HE made the advance, then yes he is the bigger evil but she is still at fault for willingly being game with it rather than shutting him down or telling his wife "yo your man's unfaithful""

I don't necessarily disagree with that, the issue is the rest. You may not realize but it does sound like you're really letting this guy off the hook easily with much less responsility than Ariana and that's what I think stinks. She deserves blame as well, but the one who broke the promise and years of trust is the one who should be pointed at first, whether it's a woman or a man. And that's Ethan.

Her reputation of being attracted to taken men, precedes her. Ethan knowingly and willingly left his wife and child to be with her. It doesn’t matter if she made the advances or manipulated him, he’s a huge loser and an idiot for doing what he did. Frankly, it’s embarrassing. Did he really think he could lock her down or something. If I were his wife, I’d be cackling at the turn of events.

The discourse on this is so parasocial. He's a grown up, he decided to leave his relationship. Just because the new relationship didn't work out doesn't mean his old one would have. It's totally common for people to leave a strained relationship when they find someone new. Not saying it's right, just that it's ridiculous how much public attention this has gotten.

1

u/xevlar Jul 23 '26

I got no respect for what he did. Sorry that hurts your feelings.

-1

u/doomer_irl Jul 23 '26

My *exact* point. Why would you care or even think about it at all? It's the kind of thing I would judge a friend over, but I cannot understand the urge to care about a total stranger leaving their partner for someone else.

2

u/xevlar Jul 24 '26

I wasn't thinking about it until you started wasting my time yapping about it. I haven't thought about it all since I posted that comment lol
