[PC] Horizon Zero Dawn, is it worth it?

Hello everyone!

Steam is having a big sales week, so I was wondering whether Horizon Zero Dawn was worth it. I’ve heard mixed opinions about it, people saying that it’s “the best game ever” and others saying that it’s “a glorified RPG mobile game”.

I love deep meaningful open world games like Red Dead Redemption 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Kingdom Come Deliverance and so on.

What do you all think about it? Is Horizon Zero Dawn worth it?

[PC] I miss crafting weapons and components and selling to players in EVE Online. Are there any good mmorpgs with a player based economy like EVE?

Always loved passively making space bucks with my planetary mines. Playing the market. Finding a niche to set up crafting for. Space trucking my goods around to sell them. EVE was so much more than the sum of its parts back then. The music, mood, ship design, danger was all so welcoming.

Is there anything like that anymore?

I was remembering old Star wars galaxies days and it got me nostalgic. I think eve is a very different game now than it was, probably not what im lookign for anymore.

I know of Kenshi I dont thinknthats what I want. And I dont want to be a medieval shopkeeper or villager.

[PC] Are these games worth it?

• Upvotes

Steam is having its Autumn sale till October 8th and I found a bunch of games but don’t know if they are worth it.

All 3 Arkham games for $8.99

Celeste for $4.99

Both Portal games for $2.98

Both Ori games for $7.18

All 3 OG Lego Batman games for $4.99

This all adds up to $29.13. Is it worth it getting all these games or should I cut some of them? Also do the older games here still hold up?

[PC] Returnal - worried the game is too fast

Returnal is on sale and I'm torn. I love sci-fi, atmosphere above almost everything, and Hades. I also enjoyed the build depth in Path of Exile 2. I lean towards methodical games like the Souls games, Destiny and Witchfire rather than fast ones, and Doom 2016 was fun but I wouldn't want that speed all the time. For anyone who's played Returnal, can you play it at a deliberate pace, or does it demand constant frantic movement? Does the atmosphere carry it, is the difficulty fair rather than cheap, and is there enough build variety between runs that the loop doesn't get samey? I'm on PC (9070XT, 5800X3D) running Bazzite Linux, so any Linux experiences would be a bonus.

Can’t decide between Control Resonant or Star Wars Zero Company

I know two different games entirely but in between pre ordering GTA and buying wolverine, I only want to purchase one before GTA releases as I’m only about 30% through wolverine.

I heard the story is really good in zero company and the world is exceptional in control but gameplay feels repetitive.

Could I get your suggestions?

[PC] Which 2026 game should I buy? If you've played them, how would you rank them?

I'm trying to decide which game released in 2026 I should buy, and I'd love to hear from people who have actually played these games.

The games I'm considering are:

  • Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake
  • PRAGMATA
  • 007 First Light
  • The Blood of Dawnwalker
  • Onimusha
  • Silent Hill: Townfall
  • CONTROL: Resonant

If you've played all of them or even just some of them, how would you rank them from worst to best?

I'd especially appreciate it if you could explain why you ranked them that way, things like story, gameplay, atmosphere, combat, exploration, characters, length, replayability, and overall quality.

I'm mainly trying to figure out which one is the best buy, so if you could only recommend one of these, which would you pick?

[PC] I can't decide between buying RE4R or cyberpunk 2077

I played the resident evil games lately and right now they are in a discount for the steam sales, but i cannot decide which to buy, i feel like i would love both but once i start a game i like to hyperfocus on that specific game and finish it, even sometimes i take my time to collect all the archivements.

What's your call here

[PS5] Xbox series x or PS5?

I'm trying to decide between a PS5 Disc and Xbox Series X. I already have a Windows gaming PC, so I'm leaning towards Xbox because of Play Anywhere. If I buy a supported game on Xbox, I can also play it on PC.

But I'm wondering about the downsides of both. Xbox has fewer exclusives I'm interested in, and I'm also wondering if it's worth buying a Series X now with the next-gen Xbox coming.

For PS5, I'm concerned about DRM/online requirements for some physical games, expensive digital games, also the back stabbing themselves repeatedly and the fact that many PlayStation games eventually come to PC.

Which one would make more sense for someone who already has a gaming PC?

[PC] Looking for a medieval dark fantasy co-op game — Xbox

Hey everyone! I'm looking for a game that really fits a specific vibe, and I'm having a hard time finding one.

The most important thing: I want a MEDIEVAL setting. Not just generic fantasy with magic — I want the world to actually feel like the Middle Ages: castles, villages, forests, medieval weapons, armor, ruins, fortresses, etc.

I'm looking for:

Strong medieval setting/aesthetic — this is VERY important.

Dark fantasy atmosphere.

Real-time combat, not turn-based.

Online co-op for 2 players, preferably the entire campaign together.

Xbox.

An explorable/open world with interesting places to discover.

Random/handcrafted medieval structures, ruins, villages, castles, fortresses, dungeons, etc.

A proper story/campaign and progression.

Preferably third-person or first-person.

Good graphics and an immersive world.

Ideally just me and my friend playing together, rather than an MMO with hundreds of other players.

I'm not really looking for a Soulslike. Lords of the Fallen looks amazing aesthetically, but the Soulslike gameplay isn't what I'm looking for.

Some games I've considered:

Valheim — I like the exploration, building and discovering structures, but I'm not sure it has enough of the medieval dark-fantasy/RPG feeling I'm looking for.

Outward — seems interesting and has the co-op and RPG aspects, but I'm unsure if it has the level of immersion and medieval atmosphere I'm looking for.

Elder Scrolls Online — seems to have the world and medieval fantasy setting, but I'm not sure about the MMO aspect.

Lords of the Fallen — almost perfect aesthetically, but I'm not looking for a Soulslike.

The Witcher 3 — basically the type of world/aesthetic I love, but unfortunately there's no co-op campaign.

So, what game would you recommend that comes closest to all of this?

I'm especially interested in something that makes you feel like you're actually living in a dark medieval fantasy world and exploring it with a friend.

Thanks!

Yes, I wrote this text using chatgpt because I'm from Brazil and I don't speak English very well. Sorry if the writing is strange.

[PC] Witcher 3 Remastered vs Cyberpunk 2077 vs Red Dead Redemption 2 - Help me decide

Hey guys, I badly need your help deciding on these games. I am new to gaming. Which do you think is the best among the three? I'm limiting myself to only get one for now, and these three are relatively close in price in Steam's Autumn Sale. Which do you think is the best in general? (story-wise and gameplay).

[PC] Should I play RE4 Remake as my first survival horror? (Hated TLOU stalker sections)

Hey everyone!

I’ve never played a single horror game in my life, but I’ve been seeing so much praise for Resident Evil 4 Remake lately. The gameplay looks incredible, and the franchise overall seems amazing.

Here’s my situation:

I played The Last of Us Part 1 & 2. I loved the games overall, but I really struggled with the claustrophobic/dark sections (especially the Stalker encounters in TLOU2 and dark basements). I found them way too stressful and honestly didn't enjoy those specific parts at all.
I'm planning to play RE4R on PC with Keyboard + Mouse.

I know RE4 is generally more action-oriented than pure horror, but I'm still worried about hitting a wall if it gets too terrifying or oppressive.
For those who played it:

1 Is RE4R manageable for someone with low horror tolerance?

2 Does it have many "stalker-like" dark/stealth horror sections, or is it mostly intense action where you can just shoot your way out?

3 Would playing on Assisted mode or using manual saves frequently ruin the experience, or is it a good way to enjoy the story and gameplay?

Thanks for your advice!

[PC] Onimusha way of the sword or Control Resonant?

Hello All. I’m debating getting one of these 2 games. For context I can’t stand ultra difficult modern souls likes such as Elden Ring, Nioh, or Sekiro. To me they are more frustrating than fun. However I do love Demon Souls, Dark Souls 1, and Bloodborne. I also love Resident Evil from Capcom and Requiem is my game of the year so far. I don’t mind a fair challenge but I’m not sure what to expect with Onimusha. I did enjoy the demo. For control, I thought the original game was okay. I was very confused and give it no more than a 7/10. However, I did think Alan Wake 2 was absolutely brilliant and it’s one of my favorite games of the 2020s. Are either of these must buy? If I didn’t love Control 1, does that mean I wouldn’t love Control 2? Is Onimusha worth it for me or is it beyond a healthy difficulty threshold? I just want to enjoy the game and have fun and feel badass. Please let me know which if any of these 2 games to get.

Looking for games with a thought-provoking story

So, I have recently just finished up Silent Hill 2. What a game! Everything about it is nearing perfect and it has quickly become one of my favorite games of all time. My favorite part is how nuanced the story is. There's so much left up to interpretation that you could spend hours trying to piece together what exactly went down and why. There was nothing in the game that felt without purpose. A lot of it is philosophical and psychological in nature as well, and I love those topics. I took a break from gaming after beating it because I knew nothing would come close so soon, but after a month and a half I'm looking to dive back in.

For those who haven't played Silent Hill 2, here are some other games that scratched that same itch for me:

NieR Automata/Replicant

SOMA

Outer Wilds

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty

Disco Elysium

Hopefully that provides enough context. Would really love to hear any recommendations to add to my backlog, thanks!

[PC] Performance on Helldivers 2?

Planning on getting Helldivers 2 next week, but I'm worried about the performance side since apparently it became worse over the years.
For reference I have a:

Ryzen 5 5600x
32gb Ram

Rx6600xt

Will I manage to maintain 60fps at 1080p in atleast maybe medium settings in all what the game can offer? Theres so many chaotic happening on some of the clips i've seen and I feel like my PC would explode lol.

[PS5] Should I play The Witcher 3 if it’s not my usual genre?

Hey guys, I’m really tempted to buy The Witcher 3 Remastered now that’s its on sale. I’ve never been huge on fantasy games, but recently I’ve been reading a lot more fantasy books (Red Rising, Powder Mage series) and loved them. I’ve heard a lot about the story being one of (if not the best of all time) but that the combat lets the game down. I do love open world games, and I feel like it might be kinda similar to AC: Odyssey (which was a 10/10 for me).

I’m interested in trying TW3 (I’ve actually never played a CDPR game. Played a couple of missions of Cyberpunk but not really gotten into it), but from a neutral standpoint for someone is kind of an outsider to the genre).

[Switch] Should I buy Tchia?

The game looks gorgeous and I love the notion of being able to transform into specific animals. I also need something calming and cozy right now. However, I hate games in which it’s difficult for me to get from point A to point B, and I hate overly complex puzzles. If Tchia has either complex puzzles or difficult traversal, it wouldn’t be a good fit for me at all. Based on this description, should I buy Tchia?

[PC] Fantasy recs for me to buy on Steam autumn sale?

I’ve got some money to spare and I’ve been pretty bored with my current game roster. I already played DOS2, Skyrim, Oblivion, all Dragon Age games, BG3, Pathfinder WOTR.

Preferably RPGs (a bonus if it has romance), but I’m good with whatever as long as it’s Fantasy so it could be cozy (like Fields of Mistria)
