Driving Footage Fangchengbao (BYD) Bao-8 using its Huwaei Qiankun 4.1 ADAS
Trying out the premium ADAS feature (5000 per year, or 34000 for lifetime subscription) which covers the full point to point navigation. Tried it over some rural mountain resort town (Sanqingshan).
I’m fairly new to ADAS, and i’m still getting used to using it comfortably in an urban/dense environment. But so far it has been pretty flawlessly and never overwhelmed.
The car is a Fangchengbao Bao-8, which is a full sized off roading SUV
Ps: wife recorded the footage. Had my hands on the wheel throughout. I’m a foreigner living/working in China and this is my car

Good for you! I remember having this conversation in the other sub. Keep on keeping on

I was gonna reply to you but i’m on holiday. so i’ll do it later, once i get back to my keyboard lol
It’s a bit nerve wrecking at first as your brain rejects the idea of yielding control. But i must say it’s a fantastic system so far.
Btw have you ever used it during thick fog + rain + unlit roads? The option still appears in mine, even though they recommend not using Autonomous driving in such conditions. So i didn’t dare to test it under these conditions yet

It capable of dealing with poor visibility but it will limit itself to 100kph, you can push it up to 120kph, but it will drop back down to 100kph after a while (for ADS 3 to 4.1.5. Not sure which version you are on, and not sure for the newer systems). Again keep and eye on the road, and honestly don't go above 100kph in poor conditions, more for your own safety if anything.
Btw spending 5000rmb I believe will only unlock the system for a set amount of time.

Are they finacialy/criminally responsible for accident during ADAS?

Yes, Huawei takes full responsibility unless you do something demonstrably illegal.
They also cover 10 million rmb worth of insurance

Then 5000 a year is a good deal.
Is it limited to some areas only? Can it drive to a unmapped farm or factory?

It doesn't use mapping anymore. Since 2024, it can drive to any public road within China.

What about private road? I have been to large factory complex.
Basically, I'm asking if it still drive if its not on a map.

Not sure, maybe ask a salesperson? You could pick a weekday, contact a nearby showroom, and ask them to bring the car over so you can test it.
Chinese car brands tend to have very flexible test-drive policies. Instead of requiring you to visit their showroom during business hours, they’re usually more than happy to bring the car to your place at a time that’s convenient for you.

That's not true. It's only supplementary coverage after your own insurance is applied. Funny enough, byd's own adas provides actual primary coverage.

Oh look. Level 4 autonomous driving you can buy!
Looks like another company passed Tesla.

Nope. This is Huawei ADS which is behind tesla. There was a comparison livestream of hauwei ADS 5 and FSD 14 and the livestream got cut early
huawei was performing like shit by comparison.
The safety of chinese systems is like FSD 12 days
if you look at the chinese systems they have some abilities tesla does not, but the safety is just not good. Up close they seem to see stuff that tesla does not, but at normal driving speed they have nonexistent accident avoidance and no reaction to objects

5000 rmb
And it’s supposed to covers pretty much everything nationwide, which has been my experience so far. Including tall mountain roads, remote villages and complex urban roads like in Shanghai
Btw as much as i know only Huawei charges for their ADAS, and only for the advanced point to point version that can navigate on complex urban settings. Everyone else (nio, li auto, less premium byd group products, zeekr, xiaomi, etc) throws it in for free.
