SadCat Update The crime and the criminal
This surprised me as he has never messed with the plants before. I found a piece of the aloe plant on the floor, so we are moving it out of Saddy's reach. :(

Not sure about the aloe/succulent thing but pretty sure chewing spider plants gives cats hallucinations. I call them my sacrificial plants and hope they leave my calatheas alone. It doesn’t work, but we try.
“Spider plants are mildly hallucinogenic. These plants produce an effect similar to catnip, and your cats are simply getting a mild kick from eating the leaves! Luckily, this is harmless to your feline, just the same as catnip is harmless to them.” - VetDesk
Seems like they don’t recommend cats eating them since too much will upset their tummies, but that aren’t toxic.

I did not know this, thank you! I think I'll pick him up some cat grass so he has something safer to try.

One of our cats is obsessed with spider plants and the other couldn’t care less about them. One black cat will chew every frond to a stub on those plants if I let her. She loves them when she can get at one.

Some cats really enjoy the sensory experience of plants and cat grass is good for that. I end up buying the seeds and growing in larger container so my cat can just stick his whole goofy head in the grass. The seeds are also much cheaper than those little pots of grass at the pet supply store. Very easy to grow, if it’s something kitty enjoys. 😻

We have a whole pot of it on the deck and sticking his whole head in there is common practice

Yup my spider plant has to hang from the ceiling. They seem to like the aloe too but more like sitting on it than eating it.

Aloe Vera is toxic to cats too! I was just looking at my house plants to prepare for a new baby. Waiting for the CDS. ♥️

Evidence shown does not support alleged charge fur baby. It could have been someone else. Is there video footage???

Seriously, keep an eye on him, apparently, Aloe is toxic for cats.
My girl found our spider plant, chomped a load of it and got completely (but harmlessly);spaced out on it. She is completely uninterested in catnip or cat mint.

Please tell me that is not an Aloe plant. Aloe Vera is toxic to cats. If it is an aloe plant, please plant it outside.

I moved it, had no idea. Learn something new everyday

Yeah, a lot of plants that you wouldn't expect to be bad for cats actually are. My wife, when she wants to get an inside plant, always calls the vet to check, and also googles the plant, because sometimes the vets don't know.

That's the face of a little mischief maker 😉
(And entirely unapologetic. He'll happily do it again given the opportunity 😜)
I took it as a sign that everything was definitely going to turn out okay when our severely abused rescue husky started giving me sass and doing things he knew perfectly well were no-nos

He’s innocent. Look at that face; he’s deeply saddened that you’d blame him
