You have to understand that the culture of the Republican party is Power over anything. It is the place for disgraced dirtbags to gain power. They will protect you if you rape kids. The bigger the crime, the bigger the clout. The guy that ran the largest medicare fraud in US history? He's currently in Republican leadership. Decent people don't make it in the party because it's entire culture is competitive shitbaggery. There is a reason that when you see a celebrity get accused of rape, they suddenly have a religious / political conversion to that group. That group recognizes one of their own, and welcomes them with open arms. The offender finally has a place they can let down their mask, and not pretend to not to be a rapey scumbag.
Anyway, they surround themselves with people who lie, cheat, steal, dissemble, rape, and pedo around. They honestly can't imagine anyone participating in anything straight up, without cheating or other shitbaggery. The concept of fair play eludes them.
