Permission. He gave people permission with no consequences.

u/Casingdacat 16h ago

It’s more than that. His followers have been brainwashed and have adopted his attitudes and manner of speaking in so many different areas. Here’s just one example. ā€œFake newsā€. If it goes against what their idol has told them is true, or if a truth makes them feel uncomfortable, it is ā€œfake newsā€. Another one would be his extreme rhetoric regarding, and obsession with, undocumented immigrants. Another one is swallowing all of his lies whole, no matter how far-fetched or ludicrous they may sound. There are a lot more. Those are the ones I could come up with off of the top of my head.

I’m a born-again/saved Christian, and unlike many who call themselves that, yet hypocritically support Trump and excuse all that he does, I have never done so and have always seen him for exactly who he is. I’m non-political at this point, meaning that I support no person or party. I feel like I’m a lot better off this way, because I’m not allowing it to cloud my judgment by mixing politics in with my Christianity. That’s created so much of the mess we now find ourselves in and yes, it’s also revealed what’s in the hearts of many of these people. I avoid talking to a lot of Christians where I live in the south here, in a very red state. I know that we’d disagree on so many different things. I do have a friend that I may challenge on some things here, but we still love each other and it hasn’t destroyed our friendship. If I were to go to church here the issue would be the same, because I would not be able to refrain from questioning why anyone who calls him or herself a Christian, in light of all that he’s said, done, and sanctioned that is about as far from being Christ-like as one can get, would support him.

I wish that I could find other Christians around here who see Trump for who he is and who also don’t support him at all. We really need to speak out and make other Christians aware of how badly deceived they’ve been, and that they are allowing it to go on, too. One person may get booted from a church, but it’s a whole lot harder to do that with a group.

u/dplans455 15h ago

I’m non-political

This is such bullshit. This is the shield you're using so that when this asshole is gone you can go back to openly voting for other Republicans without feeling bad about yourself.

2

u/Casingdacat 15h ago

You’re assuming an awful lot about me here, without even knowing me. Unless there are some major and radical changes in the Republican Party, I will not vote for any of them at all. The last time I voted for a Republican was when Romney ran against Obama. That was in 2012. They don’t seem to care about anyone but the rich, at the expense of the poor and vulnerable among us. The fact that they’ve even ever supported Trump and his mess would mean that I’d never have any desire to vote for any of them. There’d need to be a major overhaul of the entire party for me to even consider voting for any of them.

4

u/dplans455 14h ago

I will wait patiently for the picture of your ballot showing you didn't vote red down the line.

-2

u/Casingdacat 14h ago

Since I don’t intend to vote at all, you will have a very long wait for that.

3

u/Majestic_Artichoke55 14h ago

I understand you have your reasons for not voting blue or red. But to get trump out you gotta make a move. If you truly feel he is bad the country then you have the power to vote. Even if you dont agree with democrats, currently they are the lesser of the evils

1

u/OG_Internet_User 10h ago

Are they though? They turned out court system into a circus, they tried to remove political choice from our ballots, they skip their own primaries. I think emotional you think they are the lesser evil because Trump does not nice Things, and he’s rude and he’s a liar and all the other poor character traits he has, but I think the democrats have dig their own grave with the 2016 and 2024 election cycles.

1

u/Majestic_Artichoke55 10h ago

For sure, but trump is threatening to make USA a dictatorship. So yes imo, lesser of two evils

0

u/Casingdacat 14h ago

And that’s a game that I do not play, because evil is still evil, be it lesser or greater.

4

u/Majestic_Artichoke55 13h ago

What game are you playing?

4

u/whendrstat 11h ago

Then stop talking, you don’t deserve to have an opinion on this. Your moral grandstanding will accomplish nothing other than aiding in the continued suffering of marginalized groups, which may or may not include yourself.

0

u/OG_Internet_User 10h ago

ā€Don’t deserve to have an opinionā€

And that right there is why you guys may never win another election if you can’t make a miracle happen in these midterms. Condescending dismal and ad hominem it’s all the tools you guys have available in your tool chest.

This guy says he doesn’t vote, and instead of just being satisfied with one less red vote to have to overcome you can’t let it rest, gotta treat him poorly. I hope you’ve inspired him to cast a vote against you.

1

u/OG_Internet_User 10h ago

Hey if you ever get tired of being treated poorly like people you’ve never met for being non political the other guys don’t care.

4

u/OkDust5962 15h ago

I think there are more people who are starting to feel as you do, but they just don't talk about it at all. Maybe not many people, but more people. It's really hard for people to admit they've been conned.

2

u/legosgrrl 15h ago

Gtfo with "non political"

Next.

1

u/dplans455 15h ago

"non political"

He will vote straight red next month. Guaranteed. This guy voted for Trump 3 times too. You just know it.

2

u/Casingdacat 15h ago

I’m not a guy, number one, and I’ve never voted for Trump in my life. Are you kidding me? You think I’d vote for the misogynist who made Carly Fiorina’s looks a qualifier when it came to whether or not she’d be a suitable candidate for the Republican nomination for president in 2020? That guy? You’re nuts.

3

u/dplans455 15h ago

You'll still vote straight red. Don't lie to us, Ms. Non-political.

The jig is up. Everyone knows "non political" is code for "I'm still voting Republican."

Enjoy your $8 gas and your thousand dollar heating bill this winter. You will be the blame for this. Not "dumbocrats" hur.

2

u/Casingdacat 15h ago

Says who? Prove it. Who is ā€œeveryoneā€? I haven’t voted for a Republican since 2012. So try again.

I don’t use insults when referring to anyone who belongs to either ā€œsideā€. I never have. That is so immature and there’s no point in doing so, anyway.

Quit talking like you even know the first thing about me. You’re quite good at assuming things.

1

u/dplans455 14h ago

Laying it on thick. Know that when you're voting down the line red next month that I see right through you.

0

u/sillyvideogamestuff 14h ago

I honestly don't know what you expected. You admitted to being a Christian on Reddit. May I introduce you to the tolerant Left. Such a big tent they have.

1

u/Casingdacat 14h ago

So does being a Christian automatically mean that one will vote red at all, let alone straight red? What they, and Trump, have been doing do not represent my values as a Christian, except for when it comes to Roe v Wade, and even they’re they’ve created a gigantic mess with their vague trigger laws and laws that threaten to prosecute doctors. Laws written without even considering the potential consequences of those laws. Laws that aren’t entirely prolife, since they involve serious issues regarding the life of the mother. At any rate, as a Christian, and with the fact that Jesus tells us to take care of the vulnerable among us, why would I even want to vote for Republicans?

0

u/sillyvideogamestuff 13h ago

I'm not trying to sell you anything, just pointing out that you shouldn't be surprised to get the response you got from the anti-Christian Left on an anti-Christian Leftist platform.

1

u/iloveyouand 10h ago

You're certainly not going to oppose him so why act so sanctimonious like you don't support him?

-1

u/Casingdacat 15h ago

LOL! Why? Is it really that difficult of a concept to comprehend for you? RME.

3

u/legosgrrl 15h ago

You're a fence sitter. I do not care what you think. Christian. Non political. Riiiiiiiiight.

-1

u/Casingdacat 15h ago

Whatever that means. Did I even ask you to care? It doesn’t matter to me whether you do or not. Whether you even believe me or not doesn’t matter to me. Label me however you wish to; that doesn’t matter to me, either.

3

u/battletuba 14h ago edited 14h ago

I understand when people don't want to participate in a system they think is failing them but the politics happens with or without your engagement. Refusing to participate just makes you complicit with whoever wins. That's a big part of why Trump won as well. People decided it was better not to participate at all rather than support opposition to Trump.

3

u/Theograth 14h ago

The major lesson to be learned here is that none of us can afford to be non-political.

36% of the country didn’t vote in 2024. Evil prevails when good people stay silent, and I think we can all agree Trump is evil.

And Christians should know that Jesus was political. The dude was pure anti-establishment and was constantly showing everyone that the whole point is to love your neighbor, stand up for the disenfranchised, and help those who need it. He literally spoke out against the rich and wealthy. Trump is the antithesis of all those teachings.

Instead of not voting, instead of telling churches and Christians that ā€œTrump is badā€, help us get him and his cronies out of office and keep them out.

Then look for policies that value the things that Christians should value just as Jesus did, and vote to help make them happen.

0

u/Casingdacat 14h ago

On the other hand, I do not favor any of the progressive ideas of the Democratic Party and I’m not willing to compromise on that, anymore than I’m willing to compromise when it comes to voting for Republicans.

2

u/iloveyouand 10h ago

Is there a point where you ever stand up for yourself and those around you or do you just continue to appease oppressors in the interest of keeping yourself uninvolved in helping anyone. Seems like a belief system with zero actual conviction behind it.

1

u/PercentageAny2976 15h ago

No, you just came across like every judgmental Christian you say you're not

1

u/Casingdacat 14h ago

Yeah? How so? I think that the issue here is that you aren’t aware of the fact that it is permissible for me to judge another person’s fruits; that is, their words and actions. And that’s exactly what I was referring to in what I wrote.

1

u/Majestic_Artichoke55 14h ago

Might as well speak your truth as you know the good morals of Christ back you. Either way, you’re not connecting with people in your community. By speaking up when someone repeats a trumpism you might just find like minded people like yourself who are also privy the to convo. I’ve had this experience many times. People come up to me after and say they totally agree.

find a new religion then, I hear jesus was buddies with buddha, you can talk to them all you want without the trump stuff

Fake news

Lets do a quick experiment lol.

In 2008 Bush Jr. declared that Ukraine and Georgia are going to join Nato. Russia said njet, Merkel warned about it, and the people in Ukraine didn't want that either. Leading up to 2014 the CIA ("NED") funded the main organizer of the Euromaidan protests and trained them. The CIA actually bolstered far right nationalists (actual nazis) since 1950. And after bragging about how they are going to turn Ukraine the CIA pulled it off in 2014. To anyone not braindead it was clear what was going to follow, and while I'm not a fan of Russia they are not braindead and reacted exactly as predicted.

All of this is documented in western sources. Incontrovertible historical facts. But NONE of it is "political correct" to mention. You're called a Russian bot, or spouting Russian propaganda and basically get branded a traitor. You might loose your job because of it.

The point of this experiment is that this change isn't just on the MAGA / fascist side. It's 90% of redditors who think like this. If you do not follow the official political correct version of history and have a different opinion, you're a traitor.

And this is a fucking war with lots of deaths. It's destroying Europe. Pluralism is fucking over.

So people like to go on and on about how bad Trump is and how bad his followers are. But most of those complaining are just as bad. No difference to MAGA at all. They believe the world should be ruled by the US empire or the chains of capitalism. Liberalism. No ideology except capitalism. Because fundamentally they believe in inequality just like fascists do.

1

u/theusualconsequences 8h ago

This is such an insane tangent. How does any of this go against what you're replying to? How is this an experiment? You're seeing large swaths of the left get mad at you for talking about CIA coups? Really? We're pretty anti-coup as a group. And how does this prove anything at all, beyond that you ran into some annoying people on reddit? This is not how you establish a causal relation between two things at all

0

u/Majestic_Artichoke55 14h ago

This is very true. The world is much more complex than mainstream opinions. Things can still be bad, and we can still understand how humans work.

Now when you’re not abiding by international law there should be consequences

1

u/YoursTrulyKindly 13h ago

Sure, but why not hold the worst perpetrators to account first? That's a double standard. And why lie about the circumstances and obscure how this started? Clearly it's to make it sound like there could be no diplomatic solution. It's an elaborate "fake news" story. Just like with MAGA and their talking points.

That's what makes this whole post so comical.

0

u/PercentageAny2976 16h ago

The lack of self-awareness in your responses absolutely mind blowing. You might want to pick that Bible up and give it a read over again.

2

u/Casingdacat 15h ago

Huh? What are you talking about? You’re not even making sense.

0

u/PercentageAny2976 15h ago

I'm saying your post comes off as hypocritical and judgmental as the very "Christians" you're speaking out against. The lack of self-awareness is amusing

1

u/Casingdacat 15h ago

In what way?

0

u/PercentageAny2976 15h ago

We can start with the judgmental nature of your post and your complete disregard of Judge not least you be judged. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Maybe you need to pick up that bible and read it a little bit more

2

u/Casingdacat 14h ago

The Bible tells me that I’m permitted to judge the fruits, aka the words and actions, of another, according to what the Word has to say about those words and actions.

0

u/dplans455 15h ago

again

This guy never read it to begin with.

1

u/Casingdacat 15h ago

I’m not a guy!

3

u/dplans455 15h ago

Semantics. Your gender doesn't change that you've never read the Bible.

1

u/Casingdacat 15h ago

And yet I have, many times over the decades.

1

u/PercentageAny2976 15h ago

Well then you should probably work on your comprehension of the text, because what you demonstrated in your original response certainly lacked many Christian virtues

1

u/Casingdacat 14h ago

Well the text says that I am permitted to judge the fruits, aka the words and actions, of another, according to what the Word of God itself has to say.

0

u/sillyvideogamestuff 14h ago

Do you understand that supporting a person because of their policy doesn't necessarily mean they support their character?

1

u/Casingdacat 13h ago

Nope. That’s definitely splitting hairs. His approach to things is not at all Christlike in any sense of the word. Supporting not taking care of the vulnerable among us is not justifiable no matter what. Supporting the brutal actions of ICE, of them murdering people, once again has nothing to do with being Christ-like. How could it?

1

u/sillyvideogamestuff 12h ago

In case you're genuine, I'll give my honest reply. You took the religious approach so I'll reply in kind.

I am a Christian, and I do believe our government was founded on Christian values. That said, I do believe the Government has a different role than the church.

So here's an example. You support taking care of the most vulnerable among us. As do I. The Bible teaches us to do this, but God also gives us the free will to follow him or not. He commanded us to live a certain way, but never forced us. He did this for a reason, yet you believe it's the governments place to force us donate through socialism? You can make an economic or moral argument for that, but not a religious one.

If by "protect the vulnerable" you meant to take in, there's another answer for that as well. In multiple passages the Bible explains that we should tend to our own flock first, our own followers and our own families first. I extend that to encompasse my countrymen. The purpose of this scripture is to ensure we take care of ourselves and our own so that we can be in a position to take care of others. This is important because of the immigration policy you brought up. Pretend we allow anyone to stay in the US that sneaks in here, or that we open all borders to allow anyone in. The US is roughly 4% of the world's population. The global median salary excluding the US is about $7 a day vs the US at roughly $70 a day. What would happen with open borders? The US median salary would equalize with the global median to be roughly $8/day. I won't pretend we're a perfect country, but we're without question the protectors of free travel in the ocean, protectors of free trade, and the beacon of individual liberty. We donate more in aid to the world than any other nation by a mile. We can't help the world if we collapse. And if you don't believe we'd collapse earning $8/day you're filling yourself. If you believe we have a housing crisis, a salary crisis, a cost of living crisis, then we're not in a position to take in more and more refugees. And I absolutely understand suffering. I met my wife while I was traveling in an impoverished small fishing village in Asia. We moved back to the US for a while and recently permanently relocated to her country to retire and raise our children. You can help individuals here by importing them, but you can't help the people here that way. I'll tell you, before I first moved here more than a decade ago I was a Democrat. I voted for Obama his first term and hated the exploitation of the 3rd world with our factories. After living here I saw the relative immense wealth we injected in to this economy with the jobs our companies provided and I did a complete 180. All this to say that immigration control is important to improve the quality of life and wealth of our citizens so that we maintain the ability to choose to do good in the world.

And I could go on about welfare and wealth redistribution, but this is long enough. I won't defend Trump personally, but out of the two evils in government I do vote Republican.

I apologize for the lengthy reply, but this isn't a simple topic.

2

u/WallacktheBear 12h ago

And I’m afraid we’ll never go back now that people hold xenophobia and bigotry as values to be cherished.

But you said no consequences, but there plenty of them. Now since your upholding the law should start counting BLM riot arrests?

9

u/SappySloan 16h ago

And what exactly were those consequences? Slaps on the wrist? Don’t do it again? T

Trump never has any accountability or consequences for anything he does. Break the law repeatedly at the American people’s expense. So naturally that’s how his supporters act too.

Another example is Ice thugs killing people in the street with no consequences.

1

u/Dangerous_Career_821 2h ago

killing people unprovoked!!! Just randomly!!! Reddit strikes again.

7

u/Chuckychinster 16h ago

Im not the original commenter just was providing a simple very obvious example

5

u/legosgrrl 16h ago

There have been zero consequences for the insurrectionist asshole treasonous bitches that stormed the Capitol.

3

u/Imaginary_Desk9186 16h ago

Well I can think of consequences for one of the treasonous bitches.

You have to hand it to Traitor Babbitt, she really stuck her neck out for Trump!

1

u/RawrImABigScaryBear 16h ago

Honey, there would have been no consequences if his followers did what he asked them to. Instead they pussied out at the first shot fired like a bunch of cowards

1

u/Dangerous_Career_821 2h ago

Honey, condescending tone. What ever did he ask them to do?

1

u/Matt_cruze 16h ago

Now since your upholding the law should start counting BLM riot arrests?

Sure! Do you want to talk about the right winger who set the police station on fire or did you have something else in mind?
