Not My Cup Of Tea❗️ Trump’s “anti-drug” policies
I invite anybody who says Trump is really anti-crime to fact check me
94
u/thatdidntturnout 6d ago
Hey, another fun fact: during his recent visit to America, Trump offered to sell Xi American weapons. All he has to do is ask.
22
17
1
107
u/RVtech101 6d ago
He’s also pardoned dozens convicted of embezzling millions from the American people. In doing so he also eliminates the debt being paid back to the victims.
36
u/FutileInitiative 6d ago
He also pardoned Ross Ulbrich, the founder of the biggest dark web marketplace, The Silk Road.
18
u/pfannkuchen89 6d ago
Who also attempted to have multiple people killed. Towards the end of the Silk Road, Ulbricht tried to take hits out on multiple people. That we know of. It wouldn’t surprise me if there were more that we don’t know about. And trump and republicans still try and say they are the tough on crime party.
13
u/neverstxp 6d ago
What they really mean to say is they are tough on petty crimes.
Their goal is to imprison the poor.2
u/balls2hairy 6d ago
None of those were charged, let alone convicted. Probably for good reason, the agents that staged one of those "hits" tortured the guy and stole millions in crypto. Doubt that would've held in court (as evidenced by prosecutors not charging).
2
u/spaceprinceps 6d ago
Why wasn't he convicted of *those* crimes then?
5
u/BestDescription3834 6d ago
It gets a bit convoluted because Ulbricht thought he was talking to a fellow criminal, but he was talking with an FBI agent. That agent took a lot of payments from Ulbricht and kept the money while giving Ulbricht advice on what to do next, trying to get more money for himself.
-1
u/spaceprinceps 6d ago
But no hit was ordered, and no charges were brought, seems like he got close to the idea but didnt do anything about it
1
u/FutileInitiative 5d ago
He's a piece of shit who should have stayed in prison forever. But he's now protected and probably will be able to start up something similar in no time flat.
1
u/resin_messiah 5d ago
Hundreds of drug markets already exist. There’d be no point in him doing that.
5
3
u/canzicrans 6d ago
Double victimization, IIRC some of the people pardoned had already been ordered to pay up to the victims, then Trump pardoned them and discharged the restitution. The pardon power should not exist.
1
u/RVtech101 6d ago
This exactly. Consistent proof this administration couldn’t care less about the victims.
37
u/SnappyTheCat 6d ago
You could ask the administration why but you would lose your press credentials if you did
14
1
53
u/Shizzilx 6d ago
It wasn't just Fentanyl, Ross Ulbricht ran Silk Road, the largest online black market in history. Drugs, weapons, tech, crypto, escorts, etc. So, true and more.
17
6
u/RefrigeratorNo1160 6d ago
There's an Internet theory I've heard that due to his massive amount of hidden Bitcoin wallets that Ross Ulbricht might secretly be the richest person in the world. Rivaling even Elon. Makes sense he'd be able to buy his way out of prison.
16
u/Parking-Sundae-6097 6d ago
But the border is so open and the immigrants are bringing in all the fentanyl!!1!!
11
19
u/MyPr0j3ct 6d ago
Trump is anti-crime. He is anti criminals going to jail or facing punishment for their actions.
He saves them once they pay the pardon fee.
2
u/sofaking1958 6d ago
Then he's NOT anti-crime, he's pro-crime.
11
5
u/Fontreview 6d ago
Ah, but if he pardons them, there was no crime! So now there is less crime! Checkmate, crime!
1
u/Potential_Aioli_4611 6d ago
Just like how when you stop testing for covid you see a drop in covid!
6

6
u/supified 6d ago
Done. Obama put no one in jail, Obama's justice department acted independently of the president like it is supposed to.
1
u/political-snark 6d ago
Did Biden cause prices to spike during his administration?
7
u/supified 6d ago
Presidents do not usually have a lot of control over gas prices.
Unless they do things like start wars of choice or trade wars.
1
u/atreeismissing 6d ago
No, that was Trump's mishandling of covid. Biden expanded oil production in the US specifically get the US more influence over OPEC and world oil markets which did two specific things, gave us more leverage on pricing (as oil is priced globally due to global factors such as wars) and it gave us more leverage over who we buy oil from in selection of cleaner oil producing nations.
1
u/EnoughOfThisBull 6d ago
Bad reach when Biden done a prisoner exchange with Russia with one of the most notorious arms dealers in the world.
-1
u/Rip_and_Tear93 6d ago
In exchange for a female athlete who was caught knowingly smuggling illegal substances into the country during a trip for a sporting event.

Trump and Biden both oversaw covid and post-covid money printing, and money printing leads to inflation. They're both reponsible

2

“Obama-era federal authorities prosecuted and imprisoned Ross Ulbricht, who operated the enormous Silk Road drug marketplace, and Trump later pardoned him.”
What was paid to trump for the pardon OP?
2
u/JonnyOnThePot420 6d ago
I do believe you but also wish you would have posted a name as to make it easier to research…

2
u/Gabfreak74 1d ago
Trump also pardoned the president of Honduras right after she got sent to prison for transporting tons of cocaine to the US
3
u/cenajohn123 6d ago
I love anyone who does fact-check you just being downvoted into oblivion. Silk Road is not the 'world's largest dealer' of black market fentanyl.. not even close. Two things can be true:
1) Trump's pardon of Ross Ulbricht cuts against his anti-crime stance
2) The modern surge of the fentanyl crisis did not really kick off until 2014, after Silk Road was shut down (existed 2011 to Oct 2013). And prevalence has exponentially grown in recent years. From 2011 to end of 2013, there were 5K fentanyl deaths in the US. In 2017, 27K. In 2024, 49K.
It is statistically impossible that Silk Road was the largest distributor of Fentanyl. It probably does not even crack the top 5. The #1 offender would probably be the Sinaloa Cartel. Also Silk Road primarily dealt in drugs like Cannabis & Excstacy.. not known for being cut with fentanyl.
Sooo - your core claim is objectively wrong. That doesn't mean that Trump's pardon does not cut against his anti crime doctrine.
→ More replies (3)2
u/GM_Cyrus 5d ago
If Silk Road was before the modern surge, then it seems likely to me that the post means the largest dealer at the time, which seems plausible?
1
u/cenajohn123 5d ago
Highly misleading if that's the case - sort of a pointless 'gotcha'. When the literal first batch of fentanyl hit US streets, the "largest dealer" was some street pusher on a corner. I am still not even sure that the claim would be accurate compared to the cartels.
Clearly this graphic is meant to poke fun of Trump as being soft on Fentanyl. Just not sure why they don't use something defensible & true like "the largest online marketplace of drugs".
Adding in a statement that is anywhere from objectively false to highly misleading & without proof is just adding to partisan divide.
3
u/Thirtiethone 6d ago
And what’s the name of the largest dealer of the black market fentanyl?
34
u/Hour_Seaworthiness24 6d ago
A brief search and it's either Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht or former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez. I think Ulbricht is more of the black market fentanyl guy? I mean pardoning TWO shady guys accused of providing drugs in America seems, ah, pretty bad.
5
u/Manny_Bothans 6d ago
Hernandez is responsible for the importation of 400 tons of cocaine into the US.
1
-3
u/AnonymousBoiFromTN 6d ago
Well Ulbricht wasnt arrested for anything to do with drugs directly. He was arrested for hiring a hitman to kill someone. Turned out the someone and the hitman were the same person scamming him and there never was a hit, but hiring a hitman (whether real or not) is illegal.
6
u/pell80 6d ago
Didn't he try to hire the hit man to kill a witness?
4
u/AnonymousBoiFromTN 6d ago
No its even dumber. Someone selling meth (i think) rug-pulled a bunch of customers an disappeared. Another person claiming to be from the Hell’s Angels in Canada claimed they were screwed over by this rug pull and demanded ross do something. A third person worked as some middle man claiming the Hell’s Angels were going to kill him. A fourth person said they were a hitman from the Hell’s Angels who required payment to kill the rugpuller.
Turns out they were ALL the same guy in Canada pulling some weird complex scam. The FBI and DEA got into Ross’ computer trying to find something to prosecute him on related to the silk road. Nothing was found that could be used to arrest him but they did find all the emails of essentially everything I told you. They prosecuted him for hiring a hitman.
I dont know why I got so downvoted, thats literally just what happened. A great deep dive into it is from Barely/Slightly Sociable. I cant remember which two of his channels did it but it great. I tried pulling up a link but my youtube has shit the bed for some reason
1
u/PeaceSoft 6d ago
i think you got downvoted because people thought you meant that as a counter-argument rather than a looooooong reach of a mic grab
1
u/spaceprinceps 6d ago
Why wasn't he convicted of hiring a hitman then?
3
u/AnonymousBoiFromTN 6d ago
Because arrested on and convicted of are two different things. He already had a life sentence for the drug related charges they were able to grab after a subpoena on him. He was pretty much convicted in Maryland for the hitman charges but they dropped the case when his New York drug conviction already gave him life. The hitman charges, however, were found to be true by the court of New York and when he tried to appeal they were used as the reason to deny the appeal.
1

u/Thirtiethone 6d ago
The fact you had to choose two names is telling. Can you link me the part about him being “the world’s largest fentanyl dealer”? He was definitely a drug dealer but the fentanyl connection is politicians stating that claim. This post is true and false at the same time.
1
u/Hour_Seaworthiness24 6d ago
Right! I want to know who the fentanyl guy is too! The two I choose were just at the top of search results for me.
0
u/Ok-Lingonberry-696 6d ago
1
u/Thirtiethone 6d ago
Lmao that link doesn’t even mention fentanyl. Now find one that quotes “ the world’s largest fentanyl dealer”. Yes he had website selling drugs other things but there is zero evidence of “the worlds largest fentanyl dealer “. Fact check that
0
u/Ok-Lingonberry-696 6d ago
My God, So if I let others use my place as a Drug Den, theres no fentanyl in it. and since I'm not a Drug Dealer, I just let others use my place, I'm not a drug dealer so they can't arrest me? Wow, So i can do that, why didn't I think of that.
You really have the mental capacity of a MAGGOT do you? ALL KINDS OF DRUGS ARE SOLD THERE. you think fentanyl is not? SILK ROAD IS THE BIGGEST DRUG DEN. the TERM BIGGEST DRUG DEN, entails many ranks. DRUG SALE IS THE BIGGEST. including FENTANYL. try to learn something. dimwit.15

We really wanna go down this route? Like for real? Cuz the left traded a world criminal arms dealer who brought guns to terrorist and war lords nick named the angel of death, for a wnba player who didn’t take the warning of do not bring or smoke weed in Russia.
So how about we cut the bullshit and stop pretending either side will solve these problems.
3
u/political-snark 5d ago
I’m more that happy to. The arms dealer got us back an American citizen and led to the release of dozens more people. In his deal, Trump personally got millions from his deal. I don’t see the net effect of those two things as equivalent.
2
u/Gabfreak74 1d ago
How about you stop pretending that you don’t lick Trump boots

u/Codyoo11 20h ago
I don’t think his fat ass has wore boots a single day of his life. Make no mistake I think maga and liberals are both scum of the earth. You’re just pissy I don’t drink your coolaid and call out the hypocrisy.
-4
u/theewall2000 6d ago
He himself was not a dealer. He made the space for the deals (This doesnt make it any better but there is context missing there). What is puzzling that his punishment was harsher than El Chapo's punishment.
3
3
u/imnotpoopingyouare 6d ago
Well he was trying to get hits on people and their families by talking with "people from the hells angels" who were actually the feds. Not saying that's worse than Chapo, just that the whole thing was super fascinating and a fun rabbit hole lol
Barely Sociable has a fantastic deep dive into the whole Silk Road thing if anyone has 2 hours or so to kill at work or doing chores or something. Comes with all the receipts and emails, super interesting!

sooo i did fact check it and this is the result:
The image is partly true but highly misleading. It appears to refer to Ross Ulbricht, founder of the dark-web marketplace Silk Road.
True: Ulbricht was arrested in 2013 and convicted in 2015, while Barack Obama was president. Silk Road facilitated the anonymous sale of illegal drugs and other contraband. A federal court sentenced him to life in prison. U.S. Department of Justice1
True: Donald Trump granted Ulbricht a full and unconditional pardon on January 21, 2025. U.S. Department of Justice1
Misleading: Ulbricht was not prosecuted as “the world’s largest dealer of black-market fentanyl.” He operated an online marketplace used by thousands of vendors. Authorities documented sales of heroin, cocaine, LSD, ecstasy, and other drugs; the main federal account does not describe him as a fentanyl kingpin. U.S. Department of Justice
Exaggerated wording: Silk Road was described by prosecutors as one of the most extensive online criminal marketplaces—not necessarily the world’s largest fentanyl operation. Prosecutors attributed at least six overdose deaths to drugs purchased through the site. U.S. Department of Justice1
Simplified attribution: Obama did not personally “put him in jail.” Federal investigators arrested him, prosecutors brought the case, a jury convicted him, and a federal judge imposed the sentence.
Bottom line: A more accurate version would be: “During the Obama administration, Ross Ulbricht was arrested and later sentenced to life for operating Silk Road, a major dark-web marketplace for illegal drugs. Trump later pardoned him.” Calling him the world’s largest fentanyl dealer is unsupported and misleading.
10
u/Mountain_Conclusion6 6d ago
The core of the missive remains true after removing the hyperbole. After that add in Trump getting rid of all the inspectors general from pretty much every branch of government of pardoning over 60 fraudsters who caused real financial damage to real Americans. Add to that is involvement with Deutsche Bank and the laundering of an untold amount of Russian mob money through his real estate holdings all of these are court cases very documented. Add to that the adjudicated rape charges he will end up paying almost $100 million dollars in damages over. Add to that being a convicted felon. The facts are the facts and this guy and his entire family are effectively a crime syndicate going back as far as the grandfather
0
u/VictoryLovesLiberty 6d ago
i agree with you that they are "effectively a crime syndicate" based on those facts and more.

-1
u/VictoryLovesLiberty 6d ago
i didnt know that. i thought it was all in NY city.
1
u/Mountain_Conclusion6 6d ago
Trump's dad was the one who created the real estate empire in New York. The way they avoided taxes on the 400 million asset inheritance was to create a shell company that provided all the services to the real estate empire so in other words when you needed a refrigerator or a repair the kids own the shell company that provided the services and they wildly marked up the prices so that by the time dad kicked all the asset was transferred to the Shell company effectively. The New York times did a four-page spread on this so when Trump says Daddy just gave him a million dollars it's a bunch of crap he inherited 400 million effectively and if he had just sold the real estate and put it all in index funds he would have been far more wealthy than all the bad business decisions he made which included six bankruptcies. The only thing that saved him ironically was when Hollywood made him into a fictitious businessman that completely saved his ass

If you were anything more than just a meat proxy, you'd also realize how the guy in question facilitated child sex exploitation rings and also ordered a murder.
0
u/VictoryLovesLiberty 6d ago
let me get this straight. i give you an 'unbiased' summery with the help of an LLM and then you question my knowledge on his involvement with "child sex exploitation rings and also ordered a murder"?
5
u/pppjjjoooiii 6d ago
You call it highly misleading, then immediately go on to describe how the guy was 100x worse than the OP image implies. By your own words he operated “one of the most extensive online criminal marketplaces”. That’s much worse than just being the biggest dealer of one specific drug…
1
u/abceasyyy 6d ago
He wasn't a dealer as much as a website creator. Was Craigslist creator an escort or trafficker?, no but certainly facilitated it. Centenary wasn't common in this time frame like it is now.
1
u/pppjjjoooiii 6d ago
That’s a huge stretch. Craigslist wasn’t created with the express purpose of facilitating illegal activity like escort services, and I believe they make efforts to remove blatantly illegal ads.
Silk Road was used explicitly for illegal purchases. I’m pretty sure it was created for that purpose. But even if not, it purposely turned a blind eye and did nothing to stop those activities.
These things are not comparable in any way…
0
u/VictoryLovesLiberty 6d ago
with respect. it is the LMM that does not know the gravitas of seq. actions.
the LMM titled it as 'highly misleading' bcz that man was never charged nor convicted for that.
(but indirectly he ofc was, by facilitating that and much more)4
u/pppjjjoooiii 6d ago edited 6d ago
Why tf are you just mindlessly pasting LLM output here? It’s one thing to ask it for relevant facts, but this shows you didn’t even think about the output for 5 seconds.
I don’t come on this sight to talk with an LLM through some meat puppet. If I want an LLMs output I can get that directly myself…

u/AdOrnery8950 6d ago

I’m sorry it makes you feel hurt, but my reaction was 100% appropriate. In fact I probably wasn’t harsh enough. People floating through life spitting out whatever an LLM puts in their head will be the ruin of society. That’s especially true in democratic countries. We cannot afford to have a bunch of meat puppets voting based on LLM outputs.
I’m sure you’re an absolutely great person in general. But you should be embarrassed about what you just did. That shame is a natural human mechanism that helps us stop making mistakes.

I’m sorry the LLM made you feel hurt. Please point out one thing the LLM said that was incorrect.
1
u/pppjjjoooiii 6d ago
I literally did. It was wrong to call the claim “highly misleading”. Are you unable to read?
1
u/becEverythingB 6d ago
It’s absolutely highly misleading. Fentanyl popularity and the Silk Road timelines didn’t even overlap…
1
u/pppjjjoooiii 6d ago
It’s only misleading if you think the word “Fentanyl” was the point. It wasn’t. In fact it would have been better if only Fentanyl was traded on the Silk Road.
The point, which you understand full well, is that one president put a terrible drug trafficker in prison and another president pardoned him. Hyper fixating on that one word is bad faith. Take a step back and ask yourself why you’re working so hard to run defense for corrupt politicians and criminals. They don’t care one bit about you my guy, and you’ll get no reward for it.

Fact checked, still false.
Assuming this is about Ross Ulbricht, the creator of Silk Road. SIlk Road didn't even sell much Fentanyl, this was long before that even became popular.
Not to shed light on it, but theres plenty of people that agree a 2x life sentence + 40 years for setting up a website is pretty harsh. Not to mention silk road itself wasn't even hosted in the US.
