Former U.S. President Barack Obama frequently speaks on the value of women in political leadership, most recently reviving these thoughts in a September 21, 2026 talk at Salem State University.

During his discussion with presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, Obama stated that he often fantasized during his presidency about putting women in charge of every government for two years. He expressed a strong belief that while things wouldn't be perfect, "they'd be better".

Similarly Obama took a widely publicized stance at a private leadership event in Singapore in December 2019. He argued that women are "indisputably better" leaders than men and that increased female leadership would yield significant improvements in global living standards, child care and also in general outcomes.

A social media nod from singer Nancy Sinatra expressed her agreement with his perspective.

People who think we need a female president not because of any actual reason or policies but because it’s a female president are WHY we don’t have a female president we’re 0-2 because y’all are putting the worst imaginable candidate up for vote

I mean. Hillary wasnt the best candidate but Kamala... yeesh. But seriously, drop the identity politics and find the best person. I couldnt care less what color or sexuality they are. I thought Pete Buttigige was pretty damn good when he did his fox news sit dow. (I didnt watch the whole thing because im not gonna taint my eyes with fox news, but i saw some clips). But because hes gay im sure they wont run him, hell Kamala specifically skipped him over for VP because of it.
