Former U.S. President Barack Obama frequently speaks on the value of women in political leadership, most recently reviving these thoughts in a September 21, 2026 talk at Salem State University.

During his discussion with presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, Obama stated that he often fantasized during his presidency about putting women in charge of every government for two years. He expressed a strong belief that while things wouldn't be perfect, "they'd be better".

Similarly Obama took a widely publicized stance at a private leadership event in Singapore in December 2019. He argued that women are "indisputably better" leaders than men and that increased female leadership would yield significant improvements in global living standards, child care and also in general outcomes.

A social media nod from singer Nancy Sinatra expressed her agreement with his perspective.

Mackenzie Scott would be perfect. Another billionaire but one that is not out to be richer but looks out for the needs of society

She also didn't earn her wealth.

She was an original founding member of Amazon along with her ex husband. You have no idea about the importance of her efforts and success.

She negotiated the first major contract at Amazon. She did many other important work prior to leaving in 1996 to raise the kids. Plus she only received 4% of the company in the divorce.

To say she didn’t earn it is reflective of your idiocy.

She got $38 billion from her divorce. Glad I could clear that up for you.

Which she earned. Especially since it was only 4% of a business she was a key person in establishing.

If you earned it, then you'd have it and you wouldn't get it in a divorce. You're making zero sense.

Nonsense. They were married and formed the company together. She played an important role and then left to raise their children. Are you such a weak man that you cannot see that.

4%. It’s foolish to think that was not earned.

Personal attacks aren't going to make you less wrong. The fact remains, that if she earned it she would've already owned those resources/value. That she was awarded it in a divorce proves you wrong.

So when they started the company she should have just insisted ownership and left with 50%. She was a co-founder

Hmmm...not on the list of self-made women billionaires. I wonder why?

Who cares. She earned every penny. She and her ex both had great jobs in NY and left together to form Amazon. She was essential in the company being successful. On any other situation she could have received stock from day 1. You seem to be bothered that she earned that share or more. It’s just ridiculous to me.

4%. In many instances with community property she might have received much more.
