MAGA in the past ten years has systematically destroyed America and set us back 50 years on the world stage.
While the rest of the world is racing to the future we have:
Allowed screwworm to spread back to the US after being eradicated for nearly half a century thanks to Trump/RFK defunding the team that kept them at bay. American cattle farmers will have their livelihoods wiped out.
Gutted the FBI, CIA, NSA, etc. of career leadership with decades of institutional knowledge, replacing them with unqualified sycophants who report only to POTUS to target allies and political opponents.
A dead constitution where Americans no-longer have a meaningful First Amendment, Second Amendment, or Fourth Amendment thanks to the activities of ICE. Brown, black, and White Americans alike have all had their rights pissed on and have been murdered by ICE agents.
Destroyed the institution of an independent Supreme Court by stacking it with unqualified sycophants
Destroyed our military in several ways: replaced career leadership with unqualified sycophants, spent the majority of our stockpiled missiles and bombs on Schrodinger's Iranian War (are we at war or not? depends which American official you ask on what day), and has altered rules for enlisted soldiers to arbitrarily discharge thousands of soldiers on political ground (i.e. being trans (discharge) or being black (fired from leadership).
Fulfilled the conservative wet-dream that the government is filled with rich pedophiles. Well congrats, we put the rich pedophile bull back in the china shop and guess what? He still likes to destroy America and rape kids.
Let China and the rest of the world get a massive headstart on the electric vehicle revolution by clinging to gasoline cars allowing the Car Dealership lobby to block EV production and deployment across the country. China has incredible and AFFORDABLE EVs everywhere now, except they're illegal in America.
Also let China beat us to the punch on renewable energy. There's only so much oil, especially when you've allowed your enemy to economically blockade the Strait of Hormuz because we attacked them with no plan. China has been mass producing solar power and using it to cut oil reliance on an insane scale. Once they no longer "need" oil on the massive level of other nations, they can start turning up the pain dial for everyone.

Talk to any member of the navy member past and present. They will the sea water causes rust.
Running out of interceptor missles, nope. Now is the area running low, sure. That is what happens when the opposing force sends hundreds of stuff for one target. And again, ask any air defense guy, saturation attacks are really effective short term.
Also remeber the U.S. isn't in a war fighting economy stance. Aka World War 2 for example.

Anyone else get uncomfortable when people make arguments that one gender is tougher than the other? I mean, isn't toughness or resilience incredibly specific to the individual?
11
u/OrganicHistorian2576 7d ago
Yes, though on average there are some differences. Not everybodyās average though!
20
u/gentleheart-lamb 7d ago
Eh im a woman and I'm a bit tired of people pretending there aren't like just natural differences between men and women.
Tbh id guess women do prob have a better pain tolerance than men. But men are objectively physically stronger on average. Like idk why we have to pretend otherwise. Like that fact hasnt been why women have been at risk and unsafe for years.
I don't think men are on average more intelligent or better than women. But are they better at lifting things and running about like yeah lmao
9
u/NomadDK 7d ago
In the military, gender matters little, if at all. Women that train for the physical requirements will pass. Men that don't train will likely fall. It is 100% up to the individual, not the gender. Gender doesn't automatically let someone pass or fail. Sure, women biologically have challenges to overcome in that training, but that is also where it starts and ends.
→ More replies (5)2
u/gentleheart-lamb 7d ago
I meant sex not gender. But I don't think it makes a big difference in passing a fitness test no.
The example in the post is saying basically "women can do what a man can do but can men do what a woman can do"
Which like no I think men don't have as good a pain tolerance. On a pain stimulater I don't think the men could reach as high as women. But I also don't think that women could reach the same physical heights as men either.
Like yeah they pass the fitness standard of the men but they wouldn't win the like fitness competition.
Idk I just sort of hate this focus lately on pitting women against men athletically and being like "we can do it just as good as a man!!' I see it on tiktok a lot like. No we can't who cares like a monkeys stronger than a human and a cheetah faster but humans are still the superior species.
Women are better in so many other ways.
2
u/NomadDK 7d ago
On that, I wholly agree.
But I just generally hate gender wars. It's stupid and makes no sense. But I am even more tired of those saying that women can't be good soldiers or police officers, and all the sexism involved whenever they are. It's annoying. As a soldier myself, I have absolutely no complaints about the many women I've served with. They were all motivated and capable, and they make wonderful colleagues. No, I don't expect them to compete with male athletes, but neither the fuck can I. But one never gets fair results when trying to compare average people against top-of-the-line athletes.
People generally need to stop pitting men against women. Our biological differences do exist, but mostly we are still very similar. The average is closer than people think. And in the few cases where one gender is "behind", they excel at something else. And I for one certainly feel no need to downplay women and their strength, especially in regards to pain tolerance. A day with period or labor pains would have me whinging nonstop, if not just kill me. If one insists on making it a competition, there are a lot of aspects where women would win. I don't get why people have to feel so fragile and threatened over this.
The world is a better place when we treat each other as equals. As partners. To support each other.
2
u/Expert_Struggle_7135 6d ago
"Which like no I think men don't have as good a pain tolerance"
Can't say I've ever seen a woman who handled pain particularly well, tbh. Women cry their eyes out and make a big deal over the tiniest bump or injury.
Menstrual pain, childbirth?
What on earth does that have to do with anything?
That's like saying someone who is constantly getting into accidents must have a high pain tolerance simply because they keep having accidents, despite those accidents being completely out of their control, without giving any thought whatsoever to how they actually react to the pain caused by those accidents.
→ More replies (7)2
u/Dutifullaccess 5d ago
Unfortunately that is exactly right. Someone who experiences more pain will have a higher pain tolerance. I have a condition that makes me spun out when standing for long periods of time. Literally walked into a metal pole head first the other day, made a loud bang, and cracked on with my day. One of my staff slightly bopped their head on a door frame and had to sit down for ten. They are not clumsy nor have they experienced any crazy health issues or accidents. This is no coincidence and is proven fact that people build tolerance for things, especially pain.

Women have a higher IQ on average. When it comes to extremes, men are dominant at both the higher and lower ends. But I believe this is due to the factor of how their social and economic lives are, and not specifically due to what they are.

An excellent point. When measuring any given human characteristic there's typically more variation within a group (e.g. a wider spread between the lowest or highest measure in all men or all women or all people with blue eyes or all people with brown eyes) than there is in the average between the two groups. So saying one group is stronger or more able to handle pain than the other might be true on average, but that ignores that a huge chunk of the "weaker" group would perform better than a huge chunk of the "stronger" group. But people don't like when explanations don't fit into neat categories.

→ More replies (50)2
u/Capable_Elk_770 7d ago
We already do this test, combat mos or not. Itās the physical fitness test and the combat fitness test. Women already had the same tests for both, there are just slightly different numbers/times for a general score, because itās testing fitness level which is presented differently between sexes. There are three classes for each test, 1st, 2nd, 3rd.
This isnāt āwomen now have to do the 3 mile run, pull up, and plank along with menā, we literally already do it and have been. The CFT was and is the same course for us too.
The majority of women will still pass even if all mosās get gender neutral scoring for both tests, because there are different classes. It can affect promotion score and any boards you want to go on. So if all women started going by male standards, they will still be majority passing, there will just be some women who go from an easier 1st class to a 2nd, and 2nd to 3rd.
If youāre in 3rd class, male or female, everyone already hates you and youāre probably getting punished in PT anyways. Youāre not going to promote, even if youāre the top in your mos outside of fitness⦠(unless your mos is severely lacking personnel.) Scores arenāt secret. Failures arenāt secret. The marine corps doesnāt put up with it. Our test scores already overlapped. The running alone has I think 8 minutes overlapping scores? 8 minute difference and still passing the test, male or female for the run, just with different scores that affect promotions and boards.

Did he think that the Marines were letting people in just because they could figure out which crayons were tastiest?
That's literally the most over the top and macho branch of service and the only one with an all combat, all the time, sanity-is-for-losers mentality ("every marine a rifleman" and unit rituals like drinking cobra blood).
Of f---ing course they were ready to go.

Dudes an idiot but fixing fitness standards across the board for infantry is a huge win. Honestly, I'm surprised the passing rate isn't higher than 90%.
3
u/Late-Assignment8482 7d ago
Why give him the benefit of the doubt? Matching sounds great on paper but isnāt the only way to get there.
Smarter officers promoted on merit and not Trumpās Fox News viewing set the old standards. They were probably enough.
The old standards already cleared a decade and a half fuss from Senate Republicans to open combat jobs at all, halfway through the war on terror. Women were passing Ranger School, ffs. In small numbers, sure.
If a 90/100 split on upper body strength by genders gives you 10% more female recruits eligible and 85% is what you need to do the job competently, a 100/100 is actually counterproductive. Force size is smaller and youāre losing good people.

This is a stupid argument... i am a retired combat veteran three tours in mosul Iraq and one tour Logar Provence Afghanistan. A pt test doesn't help you in war and I personally know women who outperform men. I also know well trained men guys i trained who froze in battle. There is a reason we trained the way we did so you could react without thinking but you can't simulate real bullets and real bombs around in. This isn't the movies and war is real. PT test are not designed to make you stronger so you can pick up your battle buddy with full kit and carry them. You want to get stronger you train stronger train harder. Organized pt is a complete joke and that's why half the military now is overweight
2
u/StreetCollar2708 6d ago
When i was in, I heard people bitch about how the women had it easier and didn't have to do as much on the pft. Never heard anyone bitch about the fact that older people had to do less too, though.
2
u/SpikeyPear 4d ago
I mean some women when thrown into combat killed 300 men including enemy snipers. And it was not an insurgency, but a full on war between regular armies. Yeah. We just dont like seeing women in combat roles for reasons.
2
u/jankbutdank 4d ago edited 4d ago
hard disagree with most of what you wrote and i'm also a combat vet
my deployment was extremely physical and my airborne unit's organized PT + gym time was crucial to being prepared but we went way over the standard APFT at the time (10 mile runs for time, bench press, 200 pound sled drag, carry 150 pound dummy, and 30 mile rucks).
does it capture everything? no but to say PT doesn't help in war goes against the last 100 years of our military doctrine lol
like you are literally going completely counter to everything the military has been about

tbf I kinda agree with the idea of keeping men and women's standards in the military the same, bc noone in a war is going to give you an advantage just bc you're a woman soldier (they probably won't even notice if the fight is far ranged enough). There's a lot of things to complain about with this administration but I don't think this is one of them.
10
6
u/PlateNo4868 7d ago
There has been half a dozen conflicts showing skinny, fat, and old. All managing to take out people that physically are stronger then them. Why? Because the rifle is the equal playing ground.
Military never was about equal. The big guy that did fitness a lot tended to get the most load, the MMG, etc.
Like don't get me wrong fitness is a big aspect. But I think people are vastly underestimating how much it matters if a women can do 10 less pullups then a man. That isn't going to make you aim faster, shoot better, etc.
4
u/jbland0909 7d ago
Thatās more of an argument to remove or lessen the requirements across the board.
If women can be just as functional as men despite being less physically fit, then why do men have to be held to greater fitness standards.
If the requirement for men is 10 pull ups, and the requirement for women is 5, and the women are just as effective soldiers like youāre saying, the men who get rejected for only being able to do 5 pull ups are just as capable as well.
If physical fitness requirements are meaningless anyways, why bother having them?
2
u/PlateNo4868 7d ago
Because that has been resolved already.
The military didn't magically just grab it's pen and lowered the standards. They took a lot of average data for each gender and tuned it for that reason. They also adjust it by age for both sexes. Because in the end, they want to see you are "In shape" then move you on.
2
u/Lumegator 7d ago
If the main goal is just to make sure your troops are healthy, then the standards should vary, as that's a different threshold for the primary sexes. Honestly a VO2 max measurment would be best for that though.

It matters. The sex that naturally has less testosterone is also prone to less single focus, less competitive mindset, has a harder time to endure hardship, is more prone to emotional/hormonal imbalances, which cause even more issues, and so on. Physicality is important, but welness of mind, especially in highly stressful, generally dangerous environments also adds to it. Not to mention the dynamics that develop from having men and women share the field, the barracks, the tent and so on. Favouritism, dereliction of duty, abuse, sabotage and so on, all stemming from interpersonal relationships.

We already did it, heās being dumb. Women already had to meet the male standard for combat mos, thatās why the failure rates are still at only a 5% difference between men and women.
The problem is making the fitness test scored the same makes women less promotable in mosās that donāt require physical strength. For instance, which pilot do you want providing air support? The one who can do more pull ups or the one who scored at the top of her class in whatever the fuck pilots train in? Same with intel. I worked with a male marine who was 130lbs soaking wet, he sucked in our mos, switched to intel and was great there. Tons of jobs like that, you want the best person for that job.
The fitness test and combat fitness test in the marine corps, which are the same courses differing only in score for time/# of reps, are testing your fitness level. If youāre in a combat mos you have higher standards already, male or female. In boot the female recruits in combat mosās were taken out for additional fitness tests.
Itās a nonissue he is attacking because he is sexist. Thatās it. Weāre also doing more drone warfare shit than boots on ground anyways, and very few women actually go combat to begin with.

The question of womens role in the military... is a really complex one.
When i did basic, one of the most competent people in our squad was a less than 50kg girl. When she was on her period, she functioned just fine, though she did yell at everyone a bit more than usual. But i think in the military that is fine.
The problems started to arise more when we had to do long marches with large packs, or when we had to carry eachother. Even during the march, of the 20 or so girls in the company, 2-3 did fine, better even than some of the dudes. But the rest just could not do it. 15 of them failed the quick march (along with 10 out of 80 men), 4 of them ended up in an ambulance (along with 2 men), and 2 in the hospital (no men ended up there).
When it comes to bearing the mental stress, women actually did fine; but when it came to adhering to authority, and following orders, or even avoiding descent, there were problems.
There are plenty of military tasks suited for the average woman, and there are plenty of non average women who can do great even in combat roles. On average, the average man is more suited to the military then the average woman. The question is, are the exceptional women worth the extra effort it takes to integrate women into the military.
I don't know the answer to that, and thank fuck i don't have to decide.

u/DJtheCrazed 6d ago
I hate the comparison of a tenz unit to menstrual cramps... and before you get angry read the whole thing.
A man doesn't have a uterus, and can never know the pain it causes to cramp. A skeletal muscle cramp is not a visceral cramp. There are some pain fibers that are the same, but the makeup and density of them are completely different. In comparing the number of nerve fibers that conduct pain the amount per unit measure (depends on study how they do it) the abdomen is going to be more receptive not only to ache pain caused by demyelinated C fibers but has a great deal more alpha-delta type fibers that result in sharp pain. Hooking a man to a tenz unit is not equivalent and just a feminist side show. It isnt science. Its stupid.
We can say the same thing for testicular blunt force trauma. A woman can never know that pain. Its just different.
But where the key is having empathy/sympathy for those around us. I dont need to know the exact feeling of pain to know my friend/neighbor/stranger is suffering. As a society we have gone into an area where we think people in pain are playing it up or lying about it. Thats the issue. If someone claims they are suffering believe them. Its that easy. Yes, there are people that lie about it, but those become obvious over time. It isnt a toughness debate - its being a decent person to those around you. If a woman claims to be suffering from cramps, believe her, do what you can to help if she asks for it.

I donāt know what he was thinking but the 9% that failed got filtered out. Which is the whole point of standards.
Iām glad these women are passing but having nearly 10% of your fighting force under standards is bad especially when just at standard isnāt the norm in the marines.
Around 5% of men are also failing which is another issue.

u/TexitorFlexit 6d ago
This seems a little absurd. Running makes sense. Push ups kind of make sense, maybe even pull ups given that women typically weigh profoundly less than men. Suggesting women have āequal basedā physical endurance to men seems like a bit of a reach. Ok, 90% have matched them. Would 90% of women be able to hold up their husbands in a stand up cradle? Can they maintain that for a respective distance in motion? Shoulder weight is the easiest to maintain in virtually any respect.

You knowz i see all these lets hock men upto simulate cramps amd contractors.. and then laught a out how poor thr men go..
but ive never seen one where they hock both men and women up at thr same time and see how they compare to the same settings..
Just food for though.

So they toughened the requirements for one of the toughest branches of military and women are passing, how is this a bad thing? now you know 90% of women in the marines are up to the task.

Iām confused. Are female marines required to pass some sort of menstrual pain test that the men donāt?
2
u/No_Signal_6969 6d ago
Yea I am not understanding how they think this is a zinger. A woman in a physically demanding job is still going to need to perform physical tasks and be able to handle those tasks. A man isn't ever going to have to deal with cramps so why even bring it up?

u/destructor212 6d ago
Not that menstrual cramps don't suck, but a man will never have to deal with them while in combat.

The fitness test should be the same across the board regardless if you're male or female, it should also be harder so we are only keeping the best of the best. I bet there's some tuff women out there that can beat alot of those guys

This story is misleading and does not tell the whole story. This is specifically for marines in combat roles which is only made up of 422 women. The non combat test standard are still sex dependent. Males have a passing rate at around 96 percent.
2
u/HookerWhale 6d ago
The sample size is far too small to know indefinitely if women will be able to pass.

Questioning the strength of a marine just because they are females. Yup, sounds like misogyny to me.Ā

Women are physically weaker. Do you want a woman to be the option for dragging you to safety when your shot? No offense to women but no.

Doesn't this mean he was right? They lowered the standards, now he raised them and women are meeting them. That means the decision to lower the standards in the first place were wrong.

u/dansssssss 7d ago
Pete Hegseth ordered this test because he believed that the military had lowered its standards to accommodate women compromising warfighting
But in reality the the military job specific standards are always gender neutral (which explains why it was 90%)
So in simple terms he was absolutely wrong

I mean, not necessarily. The level of the standards should be set in line with whatever is actually required, regardless of gender etc.
But yeah, in this case it seems to indicate that the standards for women were unnecessarily low.

Funny thing is that I have a condition called ulcerative colitis. Iāve become so pain tolerant that I often donāt realize when Iām hurt.Ā
Over 20+ years and I feel like I have those same cramps women do.
Men are not prepared for that type of concentrated consistent painful hell.

There's literally 422 women in combat roles in the U.S. marines. So congrats to 384.

u/Responsible_Bar_4984 7d ago
In all fairness, US basic military training is probably one the easiest across the whole of NATO. The lowering of the standard originally was insane to do.
2
u/Kalagorinor 7d ago
They wouldn't do well, but how is that remotely related to doing a good job as a marine?
2
u/SippsMccree 7d ago
Cool so the lowered standards weren't needed. Sounds like a win all around. Those who want to enter are doing well and we're not sacrificing performance standards
2
u/OoklaTheMok1994 7d ago
This is such a tired meme.
Men do all the most dangerous and strenuous jobs. Their pain tolerance is scientifically higher.
Just because OP has been around betas doesn't mean that's how all men are.
2
u/dannyrat029 7d ago
'Men's standard'?
Why isn't there an objective standard already?Ā

u/Worth_Bend1435 7d ago
The military has always had different fitness requirements for men and women. The women have to do less in order to pass the fitness tests.

I mean, it should have been the same standard across the board. Itās pretty sexist to have a lower standard for one side.
2
u/Ok_Mastodon_3843 6d ago
This post is misinformation.
Before, women had different fitness tests that were much easier. When my mother was in the army, she said all the women got an extra two minutes to run a mile and pass.
All Hegseth did was implement gender-neutral tests. Do you think an enemy combatant will give women more time to run?
This isn't an attempt to remove women, its an attempt at applying the same standards to everyone.

Good, the 10% who weren't good enough are now gone, so it worked perfectly in finding those who were fit to serve.

u/EveryAccount7729 7d ago
my guess is most marine men would do fine with "menstrual cramp simulators"

The qualifications to enter are still lower then mens by a significant amount and this is specific to combat roles.

"Scientific research generally shows the opposite: men tend to have higher experimental pain thresholds and tolerance than women, though the full picture involves complex biological and social factors."

you can tell that trans women live rent-free in his head from his unscripted declaration of "no more trannies, just training" at a recent speech. between that and the woman hate, rational minds must assume he loves cock.Ā

u/Late-Assignment8482 7d ago
He explicitly wants testosterone level testing. And one of the symptoms of low T is lack of erections while sleeping. I give it a week until he's personally interviewing Pentagon personnel about their boners.
2
u/kangorooz99 7d ago
Iād bet money he watches ALOT of trans porn and probably has indulged with a trans sex worker more than once.
