Spill The Tea Fauci’s Thoughts On Trump
126
u/MunchingOnCelery Jul 30 '26
No lies detected.
Republicans will be screaming and crying about Fauci 20 years from now. Fauci Derangement Syndrome tends to do that.
42
u/RandyTheJohnson Jul 30 '26
I cannot even begin to imagine the frustration at spending decades becoming one of the most respected doctors in the world just to have some douchebag who can barely read come along and turn your whole career into a nationwide controversy by just shouting that he doesn't like you
26
u/Dandan0005 Jul 30 '26
The absolute audacity to claim that someone of fauci's caliber decided to take a completely thankless, nameless job and stay there for decades for his own personal gain vs. the endless opportunities to make a fortune in the private sector is truly some 1984 levels of doublespeak.
I can't help but think about how Americans mock the African villagers who attack the ebola doctors when they show up because they believe they are bringing the disease. Meanwhile Americans have all the benefits of education and readily available information and are doing the exact same thing.
13
u/heyhayyhay Jul 30 '26
tRUMP is a psychopath, moron and lunatic. He's also the worst liar and narcissist in human history. I truly feel for fauci.
3
u/Squid_of_the_Now Jul 31 '26
Hey now, he's not just a psychopath, moron and lunatic, he's also a pedophile and an adjudicated rapist.
3
u/alphalegend Jul 30 '26
Not to mention an expired eye doctor trying to question you on infectious diseases like hes some expert on internal medicine when he hasn't even given an eye exam in years....
-13
u/Urc0mp Jul 30 '26
I know only a little but breaking points made it sound like he had a dozen respected scientists in a call, 10 leaned lab leak and 2 leaned natural origins and he requested one of the 2 to write a paper he then cited. And his government notes have some other interesting bits too where he ignored information like asymptomatic transmission. So I mean it's not like it is all because one guy wanted a scape goat. And im not calling for his head even if I've got that all correct. mistakes get made and it's unreasonable to expect him to be the one fully transparent person in the world. But I think it is also disingenuous to hand wave it as just those evil republicans being mean.
11
u/Terrible-Internal374 Jul 30 '26
The bigger question: does it even matter? The way a government responds to a public health emergency does not change whether it's a lab leak or naturally occurring. The only thing that seems to be in question is who to blame, and wasting time on that doesn't save any lives.
The whole argument is a red herring. It's a conspiracy without a consequence. The issue at hand was how to deal with the outbreak. There is room to criticize lots of the response, but as a matter of opinion, I think the scientific and medical community did the best they could with the information and resources they had available. Labeling it a lab leak or not wouldn't have changed a single thing about the response.
-7
u/Urc0mp Jul 30 '26
Perhaps if it were a lab leak they should figure out how and why to avoid any future leaks or pitfalls of potential dangerous research. Maybe they did that anyway even if nobody actually knows the origin.
5
u/Sunnygirl66 Jul 30 '26
If the Trump administration gave a shit about biological safety, they wouldn’t be firing researchers and pulling the plug on lab fridges left and right.

I was curious and asked Claude what the scientific consensus was and it indicated no concrete consensus most leaning natural spillover but not ruling out lab leak. Fwiw. Trickier topic than reddit lets on imo.
5
u/IThinkItsAverage Jul 30 '26
You asked an AI, this is where you’re going wrong. Do your own research or shut up
2
u/Urc0mp Jul 30 '26
If there was scientific consensus, wouldn't you expect that to be an easy one for AI?
4
u/IThinkItsAverage Jul 30 '26
No. AI gets things wrong all the time because it pulls information from unverified sources. This is why you see so many stories of AI giving blatantly incorrect information or contradicting itself. Do your own research, even if AI isn’t 100% wrong it’s almost never 100% right.
1
u/Urc0mp Jul 30 '26
Well, is it wrong here?
2
u/IThinkItsAverage Jul 30 '26
Yes. But more importantly, if you’re going to argue a point or vocalize an opinion, at least do your own research. If you can’t bother to do the bare minimum, dont start an argument.

u/OdiousAltRightBalrog Jul 30 '26
“He started raving that we are seeing more cases only because we are doing more testing,” Fauci wrote, continuing that he told the president, “Increased testing does not cause cases. When you increase testing you will of course pick up asymptomatics whom you might otherwise not notice. However, when you have increased percent positives and increased hospitalization, and increased deaths, that means that there are truly more cases.”
Wow, so Trump really IS stupid enough to believe that testing causes more cases.
11
u/perilous_times Jul 30 '26
And you kind of need to know a general idea on the amount of cases to truly determine transmissibility and mortality rate to determine overall policy.
7
u/OkAssistance7072 Jul 30 '26
Get out of here with all that logic and sciency crap! /s
4
u/Turbulent-Rub3695 Jul 30 '26
Week before last I decided to become a Republican. But I went to college to be an engineer. Long time ago... But still happened.
It's gonna be hard unlearning all the science thinking and shit, but I'm still going to do it!
7
u/My_Keys_ Jul 30 '26
It’s the same as when he was begging GA election officials to “find” another 7,800 votes. He knows there’s not votes to be found. He just expects them to see the line he’s thinking and say “you’re so right Mr President, let’s test less so the numbers look better for you.” Then he expects that when it comes from an authority figure, most of us won’t question it.
7
u/ItaJohnson Jul 30 '26
Part of me thinks it’s more about plausible deniability than being stupid. It’s not COVID if it’s not confirmed. I’m not arguing that Pedo the Hutt isn’t stupid, but in this case, it’s likely out of malice and not stupidity.

u/goopuslang Jul 30 '26

Lies and things you refuse to believe are not the same thing.
31
u/CautionarySnail Jul 30 '26
And lies and “we discovered new information” are also separate things. Science done under pressure always has changes and discoveries.
Science needed time to identify COVID’s mechanisms of spread. People forget at the beginning that we had very little clue how contagious it was, how it was passed.
-40
u/LifesARiver Jul 30 '26
Agreed.
Which of the facts I listed are you refusing to believe?
29
19
u/bahodej Jul 30 '26
Facts need evidence to be believed, can you provide some? I've checked and so far its refuted all your claims
-12
u/LifesARiver Jul 30 '26
Nope. All my claims are verifiably true. No I won't do your homework for you. Too many BlueMAGA folks to reply to.
11
u/bahodej Jul 30 '26
Yet another right winger makes claims they cant back. Every single time. "Do my homework for me". I did it already and all prove you wrong, I just want 1 link that has evidence of your claims.
-2
u/LifesARiver Jul 30 '26
It's so weird that the BlueMAGA right wing can't tell the right from the left.

u/DimensioT Jul 30 '26
In other words, you have no actual evidence but you are too much of a coward to admit it.
2
u/CompetitiveArt9639 Jul 30 '26
The onus is on the one who made the assertion to provide citations to prove their claims. It’s lazy to say “I wont do your homework for you” when in fact you’re refusing to do your own homework.
2
u/DimensioT Jul 30 '26
Recommending that people research claims on their own instead of providing evidence should not be dismissed as being "lazy".
It is also dishonest and cowardly.

The fact that a novel virus evolved and you think the world should have every answer, be able to provide nothing but facts, and that ani-vaxers were ever going to have a good faith arguement shows you’re not arguing in good faith either.
-7
u/LifesARiver Jul 30 '26
What? I'm talking about the lies fauci knowing told.
19
u/Good-Consequence-542 Jul 30 '26
Why do you assume they were lies and not the best answer they could provide at the time? Do you think it’s helpful during a global pandemic to make accusation towards other countries?
-1
u/LifesARiver Jul 30 '26
Because the diary said that fauci knew he was not telling the public the truth. He felt it was moral and justified, but it's still true.
He's a lifelong republican. Not sure why liberals think they can trust him.
17
u/Good-Consequence-542 Jul 30 '26 edited Jul 30 '26
Why are you trying to bring politics into this? I don’t care about his affiliations, he worked to keep this country healthy despite nearly every effort he made being undermined by the administration at the time. If he had done anything illegal, there wouldn’t be this witch-hunt in court going through his dairy. Please post where he lied in his dairy because all I’ve seen is him fighting trump to implement *any* measures to protect citizens edit added* 😂 and apparently how Julia Robert finds him attractive, Lordy theres every/anything in that diary except incriminating evidence.

I'm extremely sorry to hear that you had a wear a mask sometimes during COVID. I hope you've made a full recovery from the mask wearing.
I understand that things like wearing a mask can be very traumatic and life altering, causing permanent damage. We should keep that in mind next time, before we use the best available information at the time to politely ask folks to perform a simple action.
3
u/Schweenis69 Jul 30 '26
It's wild to me (still) — and instructive — to see how differently people act about masks when you're visibly sick. Like if you go around looking half dead, hacking and coughing etc., nobody but NOBODY wants to be around you obviously... and nobody objects if you're wearing a mask.
But if you're not symptomatic, it becomes a game. To say something provocative or whatever, to call a person a sheep or libtard or whatever.
Which is why a great answer to a jeering "why are you wearing a mask?" probably was always something like, "I just tested positive for COVID, want some?" and then you make like you're going to expose them.
But what it really tells us is that these folks are so cognitively constipated that they almost ..... lack object permanence? Like a baby that thinks you just disappeared in a game of peek-a-boo.
Nobody doubts that virus and bacteria cells are invisible to the eye, everybody knows and accepts that a person can be very sick and possibly very contagious without looking like a zombie... but ideological passion overrides both basic common sense medicine, and (more importantly) human kindness in a way that's pretty unforgivable in my opinion.
1
u/LifesARiver Jul 30 '26
What? What does this have to do with my comment or the diary or anything we are talking about.
I'm 100% sure I voluntarily masked more than you did.

u/GaiasEyes Jul 30 '26
You fail to understand how scientific research works. Any statement is a statement in time, a snapshot based on what the data shows at a given time. It naturally adjusts as more information becomes available. That is the inherent nature of scientific research and discovery. But that doesn’t fit your brain rotted MAGA narrative. You are a walking example of where scientific education in America has failed.
1
13
u/BlueMiggs Jul 30 '26
lol
Ok so you expected them to completely understand a novel virus immediately and not make any changes to their guidelines based on new information. Any changes to these guidelines based on new research constitutes lying to you. Got it. Also, masks do help, they just aren’t as effective as the 95s.
No, Fauci never said it definitely came from animal to human crossover but has consistently stated that it’s his opinion that it did but is open to the lab leak theory given any new information that would support that.
And, yet again, no Fauci did not lie about the vaccine’s effectiveness
Where are you getting your information because that was all pretty egregious bullshit

4
u/SquareTaro3270 Jul 30 '26
Masks do not significantly lower the risk of infection for the person wearing them. They DO significantly lower the risk of the person wearing it passing it along to someone else.
They didn’t lie, people just got confused by what they said and assumed “masks do nothing to protect you” was the whole story, so they stopped wearing them. A lot more people got infected, because people weren’t wearing masks, so they increased the pressure on people to wear their masks. Then, a bunch of idiots said “But but you said masks don’t protect us! YOU’RE LYING!”
Masks work. People are just dumb.
0
u/LifesARiver Jul 30 '26
Surgical masks and cloth masks do nothing whatsoever.
N95 and KN95 masks stop the spread of covid.
You antiscience BlueMAGA folks are killing me.
3
u/SquareTaro3270 Jul 30 '26
Do an experiment. Go into a dark room and shine a flashlight on the space directly in front of your face. Take a deep breath and exhale. You’ll see thousands of tiny water droplets being expelled. That is how COVID travels easiest.
Now, place a cloth in front of your face and do the same thing. Some vapor still gets through, but the amount and the distance travelled is greatly reduced. It’s not 100% effective, but to say it does nothing is to reject what you can see with your own eyes.

12
u/Briham86 Jul 30 '26
So what I'm getting from this is that the point of the "Fauci Diaries" isn't to prove Fauci was an evil mastermind behind the pandemic; it's to show that he wasn't in lockstep supporting Trump. That's the real purpose of these hearings. They're punishing Fauci for perceived disloyalty to the furher. That's the quiet part they're trying not to say out loud.
This has nothing to do with how the COVID response was managed. It has nothing to do with all the deaths. It's just about punishing him for making Trump look bad. Because Fauci cares more about science and people's lives than Trump's feelings, and Republicans don't.

Not sure what your point is.
If someone has Covid and was actively sick when they die, its either an "underlying cause" or a "contributing cause".
If someone dies in a car crash and happened to find Covid during autopsy, those were not reported in Covid stats because Covid was not a cause or contributed to death.-1
Jul 30 '26

u/SeeSeaEm Jul 30 '26
In early 2020, Washington INITIALLY counted deaths among anyone with a positive COVID test while officials waited for death certificate information. That could temporarily include people who died from accidents....or suicide, homicide or other unrelated cause. Later on records were reviewed and they removed deaths determined not to be COVID related and changed its system to exclude accidental deaths unless COVID was actually mentioned as contributing on the death certificate. The final CDC statistics require COVID to actually be written on the death certificate as causing or contributing to death. I am highly suspicious that a medical examiner wrote Covid as a cause or contributing factor of death on a Motorcycle Accident death unless the person was actively sick with pneumonia....and in that case, it may have contributed.
Unless you can show the death certificate, ME record, or a documented government correction, sorry.
I don't think you really understand the ME process or how the recording process takes place.
