Frustrated at the lack of mental health support in the area.

I won’t lie I’m sitting in the hospital typing this. I’ve been admitted to different hospitals and units a total of almost 20 times in my 21 years on this earth. It’s genuinely at the point where I’m just told there isn’t much available that I haven’t already done. Which I’m willing to try things again, however I need long term support more than anything. While yes assisted living/group homes would be a great option OW denies my applications and ODSP straight up ignores my applications. So that’s not an option because I have no income. I’ve also recently tried getting an act team but they never contacted me so I’m assuming that referral was denied. I’m just at a loss at this point like I don’t know what to do.

The reason I’m making this post is just wondering if anyone knows of anything available (program-wise) that could help. Im also all ears for any advice anyone has.

I’m sorry if this is an unorthodox place to make this post but I need to know if some local peeps know of anything

I also want to clarify I don’t want money or anything of financial value. Just advice from people in the know about mental health programs in the area.

Hey, I’m sorry. I was in a similar position many years ago. Have you been in contact with the Canadian Mental Health Association? It sounds like you would benefit from having a caseworker. They also have day programs. The waitlist might be intense, but they can connect you to all different kinds of support (housing, income, etc.). Contact them and keep following up. I wish you all the best 💜

That’s who the act team was supposed to be with, I appreciate the kind words though I’ll see what else is available through them

You’re right, but a non response doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve been rejected. Unfortunately it often takes follow up on these things to get yourself in. It takes more effort than it should and probably more than you have and for that I’m sorry. 😕

Ajax Pickering has an great Mental health day treatment program and referrals are through doctor or psychiatrist or through the mental health department

The process to get case management (NOT from the ACT team) is fairly simple and is only about 3 weeks wait. It is goal focused. You can call their intake department and you can do a self referral

I don’t have any recommendations or suggestions but try to stay strong. Thinking of you even though you’re a stranger. Had a family member who struggled. 💕
