Make friends in late 20s/30s
Hello guys,
I am an introvert that does not have family here. How can I make friends in the Oshawa/Durham Region area?
I work remotely from home so the workplace is not really an option.
There are times where I feel like going out but I don't like going to places just by myself, at the same time I want to come out of my shell.
I feel like I am in isolation just being at home all the time, and it gets lonely at times. I also think I have mild depression from it.
What do you guys think?

If you like reading we have a lovely and welcoming book club that meets in our space regularly :) free to join and you donโt have to read the selected book if you just want to chat books and connect with other readers!
Check our Instagram for the next reading sprint date! The actual book club meet is Oct 25th.
We also run a weekly trivia night and euchre night which can be great to meet others as well :)

welcome to Oshawa!

If you have a dog, Clare Ford conservation area (formerly Harmony Creek) is a great place to meet new people. I've met random people from all walks of life there.

I live out West now but when I lived in Oshawa I found getting a dog helped me come out of my shell and make new friends.
If you get one that matches your lifestyle it helps with the depression since you don't feel alone while you're home and you can take them for a walk during your lunch etc. if you take them on hikes / walks or do training classes you can meet people, dog parks are an option as well if those are something you're comfortable with.
I've worked from home for over 10 years now, if you're able to a pet does wonders for your mental health, if a dog is too much then a cat is another option as well to atleast have a companion at home.
If you were to look into a pet, please adopt don't shop if possible, there's so many perfectly good animals in shelters who want nothing more than a loving home, my dog was an abused neglected rescue from Manitoba who arrived to be still recovering from her past and today is the happiest, sweetest girl you'd ever meet who comes with me basically everywhere, she's my absolute best friend who is always up for an adventure or a good movie on the couch.
It doesn't totally help with coming out of your shell to meet people, but as someone whose an extreme introvert with a very small social battery who suffers from depression and social anxiety, she gets me out of the house, she gets me talking to people even if its small talk, she makes me laugh and smile every day.

Hello Fellow introvert here. 40+ M
For me I've used an app called "meet up" to find other people and events.
For me that interest is hiking, but there are groups for games, sports, music, etc
Maybe something there for you?
