Mayoral candidates
I am just wondering if there's anywhere I could go to find a decent breakdown of each of the candidates. I've been to a few of their pages and it mostly seems like standard politician drivel.

The mayoral debate will be October 8 at 6pm.
You can watch it on the Oshawa Chamber’s YouTube channel.

That one’s Questions are paywalled. Or at least that’s how they felt to me personally. I would have signed up but unfortunately wasn’t able to find someone to watch my toddler. I’m sure having her strapped to my chest at this event would’ve been a no go. Lol
There are open-to-everyone mayoral events happening all day October 6th. Where the residents get to ask questions.
3-5 at Electionfest and then 5:30 - 7:30 at 70king. Both you get to drop in and actually engage with candidates and ask them questions directly.

The best tool I've seen is this vote compass the star put out. Unfortunately not all candidates have participated but it's still better than nothing

All candidates were given months to fill out their votecompass to enable voters to see where they align easier.
Unfortunately, it was primarily incumbents who didn’t participate because they feel safe holding down a seat.

If it's run by the Red-Star it cannot be trusted. I recall a "tool" they put out a few years ago that some friends and I tested. No matter what responses you gave it indicated the lieberal candidate was the most aligned with your views.

That's it. That's all. That's everything.

It's pretty shitty choice, it is coming down to Tito and Jim Lee, but Tito is leading the race which sucks as he is a Wiesel

Only thing to change this is voter turnout.
It didn’t help a few Facebook groups were blocking every single post I tried to share to gain exposure over the last 1.5 months.
I put my plans and policy into written words with trackable progress. Even if I don’t win at least my transparency to the voting population was far superior to my competition.

I just read your platform, I believe you are the only one to develop a full platform, I wish that you had more popularity. More social media presence might help. Are you in the debate on October 8th? If so I wish you good luck

I’ll try and work hard on my social media over the next 2 weeks!
Unfortunately, I missed the registration deadline for the Chamber event. (We just had a baby September 15th and I was unable to find childcare in time for my toddler - wife’s still in recovery from a C-section so it would be unfair for her to be left home with a toddler and a newborn less than 1 month post surgery) I’ll be at an event at CDCD during that time so I’m not completely missing out on exposure opportunities.
If you see someone around North Oshawa or downtown this week with a a toddler strapped into a carrier - that might be me. I’m bringing her to at least 3 events with me this week.
I posted some “Open to the public” election events in the weekly event section of this Reddit. The OFLA meet and greet is probably one of the better events for residents to attend. Last I checked 35 candidates (council & school board trustees) confirmed their attendance. Gives you the opportunity to ask questions to ward, mayoral, and trustee candidates. (No scripted questions - although I believe that also means no public responses since it’s 1 on 1)

I spent my morning researching them and came up with basically nothing. As you said, basic generic politician dribble.
Solutions for problems! Money for things! Good times ahead!
