Turns out, 35-40 homers, 120 RBis is actually a little more complicated to replace on the aggregate
"We need to shake up the core!" Okay, now what? The Mets are worse now than any point they were over the past 7 years. The "Loser core" is gone, replaced with worse players who are also not winners. What's step 2?

Howie Rose:
"If you are emotionally invested in this Mets team, and you're sad right now, It's certainly understandable. But I promise you that won't take long to wear off if it ends here, because once the immediate disappointment if they don't pull off some kind of magical comeback here wears off, you'll realize what an incredible ride this team took you for this year.
Started out 0-5, showed some signs of life, before they fell to 11 games under the .500 mark and a lot of people had them written off right there. And so, when you're lying around during the offseason, anticipating the next one, and you think about what the 2024 Mets were all about, you won't be able to keep yourself from smiling. Remember the talk over the winter? Transitional year, they're punting on the season, well they've kicked all the way to the 6th game of the National League championship series.
And I'll say this, on a personal level, I was 15 years old when they won the 1969 world series. That's 55 years ago, so you can do the math yourself. But I'll just say this about the 2024 New York Mets. They have made this 70 year old feel 15 all over again."
And a bonus, when the Mets scored the 1 run with 2 outs in the ninth:
"It's poetic, isn't it? Somehow, that the Mets, even if they don't pull the Houdini act of all time off, they're just not going quietly."
That's what our New York Mets were about this year. Never giving up, battling it out, and having the time of their lives doing it. I love this team, I loved this ride, and I am so proud of these guys. LFGM

This is a complaint for the designated driver program at Citi Field in recent months. For the entirety of what I can remember of the program, it always went very fast waiting to get a voucher from Nelly. This year, they changed it to instead of a voucher, they have to wrap a wristband on you and they give you a soda can or SMART Water. Okay, whatever. But because of this and especially recently, the line for this is absolutely insane. I went this past Sunday and I waited close to 30 minutes. Not only did I have to wait this long, they’re also checking ID (even though everybody fills out the form online and has to put in their drivers license), the “manager” also stated that now only 1 person can only sign up and get the free drink. She also stated that this is not a “free soda program”. Yes it absolutely is a free soda program and that’s what it’s been for years lol. Not only that, they also opened the soda can right there and of course it obviously spilled when you inevitably bump into somebody going to your seats.
I don’t understand the need to crack down on this program when the team is performing terribly? It’s honestly ridiculous that this is what the higher ups that work for the Mets are worried about lmao.
They also stopped giving out bigger SMART Water bottles and now give Dasani water lol. So much for having the richest owner in baseball equating to a better ballpark experience 🤷🏻♂️

"I don't know [Sal Stewart], but he seems like a great dude. He's a Jesus man, which I love. He seems like a great person.
But I feel like I would be deserving of the award in the most humble way possible. I don't mean to come off cocky.
I think I deserve it. I think I showed in the whole season, in all facets of the game, that I did a pretty good job showcasing my talent, but there's definitely other good rookies out there."

About damn time someone is taking a stand to point out the animal cruelty being perpetrated in the name of making a quick buck.

Peralta seems like a good dude. As for these 2, I genuinely hope all of this is behind them or this team will amount to nothing with its 2 leaders butting heads.

There was a post in here about Pete Alonso, an opposing player, hitting a meaningless home run against the Mets. There weren’t any posts about actual Mets player AJ Ewing breaking the Mets record for most steals in a season by a rookie.

I went to 4 this year and the last one was on Thursday. I sat in section 114 row 17 and this was the closest I've ever sat at Citi Field. (wish I could've gone to many more)
My favorite section is the Hyundai Club (115-117 on the first base side and 118-120 on the third base side). I love how it feels exclusive and comes with an all you can eat buffet. I only sit there maybe once or twice a year though because of the price.

If he ever even had it this year - the control is lost. There is absolutely no way he should have a job here tomorrow after this showing tonight, the last several days, and this year as a whole. Unfathomable.

Almost 2/3 of teams could be buyers at the deadline and pitching is a premium. Mets are positioned to make out like bandits at the deadline. Between Peralta, Raley, Minter, and I’d consider for an absolute steal, Weaver, Brazoban, Warren. Hell I wonder if we ate some money what Manaea could get with 2 months of decent results after a horrendous April.
If Peterson netted a decent prospect, there is zero excuse to secure near MLB ready talent to re-tool for next year and beyond.
Stearns you better cook. Your job might depend on it.

I'm still going with the Zambrano for Kazmir trade (like honestly-what the fuck, Jim Duquette?), but Javy Baez for PCA will probably overtake it as the latter continues to build his resume.

I just think that the long-term value of the far improved player development will be much better for the franchise than any choices in free agency. The pitching and outfield position player development is especially noteworthy. We are have a pretty solid rotation and a great outfield where most of the players are in pre-arb. I also find the post-deadline bullpen made of scraps impressive too.
Alonso will likely end up being a worse player by the end of his Orioles contract, while much of our current young core would be entering their primes (well, at least for some of them, optimistically). Letting Alonso walk will always hurt, but also his raw value as a player could probably be replaced by one of our current infield prospects (and we have so many good/decent ones atp that id be surprised if one doesn't work out). That value may not be at first base specifically, but it is literally just one position of nine starters.
On the whole, I can't really get behind the anger towards the front office because of all that. They do too many things well to really make me too mad about questionable free agency choices. Besides, the short-term contracts that we have (outside Lindor/Soto) means that we don't have to stomach the really bad contracts for too long. We don't have a Bogaerts/Turner type of long-term albatross, if that makes sense.

Personally, I'd be more excited for Lindor's than Alonso. But...I think there's a decent chunk of the fanbase that wouldn't.
On one hand, I get it. I cheered for my favorite Met Carlos Beltran at Citi Field when he returned for the first time as a Cardinal. Would I have celebrated if he hit a milestone against the awful 2012 Mets? I might have. But I also went nuts in the stands when Johan threw the no hitter that same night.
Sure, different circumstance since Beltran was a big ticket signing who was traded away and wasn't a homegrown Met like Alonso who chose not to extend and leave. But...I think this is an interesting question because I do think there's a portion of this fanbase that has some combination of hate for this iteration of the Mets and love for Pete that they'll celebrate Alonso's 300th home run as an opponent more than Lindor (who actually wants to be here).
Thoughts?

The banner looks awesome, crisp and clean.
Like maybe if it wasn't blurry like Bigfoot it would look good but I mean c'mon.
DO WE... OR DO WE NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO CHANGE IT!?
does it have some kind of sentimental value? What am I missing?

My wife, 2-year old daughter and I had tickets to the game yesterday.
We arrive at Citi Field and the parking situation is a nightmare. All the paid lots are filled so the Citi Field employees as well as the NYPD are directing traffic to get us to another off-site lot about a half mile away (that I've never been to or heard of, my bad).
There's one cop who, when I rolled down my window to ask where to go, he just screams at the top of his lungs the name of the lot and to keep moving. Whatever.
Then another cop told us to go another way since there's space in one of the on-site lots. We ended up seeing the angry cop again and I told him I was sent back this way. He loses his mind and starts yelling and cursing at us (from 6 feet away from the car) and I got super mad and screamed "Calm the fuck down!"
He then fully loses his mind and I ask for his badge number. Once I did that, he turns on his body cam and asks me for my license and registration and told me to pull over. He then takes like 10-15 minutes in his car (that was blocked from my line of sight) and just hands me a ticket and my paperwork back, no explanation of what he wrote the ticket for so I asked what I was being written up for.
He wrote me a ticket for Disorderly Conduct in which I now have to appear in court to fight/pay the fine. He didn’t even tell me what the ticket was for, he basically threw it in the car and told me to leave. I had to ask what it was for and he said I told him to “shut the f*** up” which I did not say. He then says “you don’t say shit like that to a police officer ever”.
Dude was shaking and incredibly antagonistic and clearly having a power trip on top of a stressful day. The whole ordeal took so long that we didn't even go to the game.
Does anyone have any advice on how to handle this directly with the Mets and NYPD?

Regardless of what happened tonight, what a miracle that we were able to make it this far.
I’ll always be a Mets fan and I’ll always love the Mets.
See you guys in spring 💙🧡
