You might not remember it, but I do... because I was playing third base when I looked to my right and saw Bryce and other guys with a camera. He was not the Bryce we've known for over a decade, he'd played all of two MLB games in Los Angeles. I asked him to play, gave him my bat and took the video. When I asked him if he would take some swings he said "Man, I haven't played softball since I was 6 years old." I put the bat in his ribs and said "Just wait on it."
I barely did any work the next day because I was inundated with media requests and friends hitting me up when they saw my name on the video everywhere.
Bonus... around lunchtime, my office mate tells me that she needs to tell me office gossip but it has to be outside the office. We work near the stadium. We sit outside Five Guys on the first floor and she tells me whatever. I then spot Richard Justice, MLB reporter, in the Five Guys so I say hello and ask if he's seen the video. Of course he did and I ask if he knows who filmed it. He guesses right. Everyone else had written articles about Harper playing with "kids (we were all older than him)" on the Mall. Justice wrote about one of the "kids" who played softball with an MLB player. A totally different perspective. The article is out there.
Anyway, our old-ass team still plays and we missed out on our first three-peat last season on a walk off in the championship game, so we're back on our quest for a three-peat this season and Bryce is still chasing his first.
