I understand rooting for the Yankees is ... wrong, but definitely pulling for Garcia.

I'll be deep in the cold cold ground before I recognise Missoura root for the New York Yankees

White Sox fan here, thanks for the support! Hoping to go all the way and give the Pope his first miracle. If not, I will also be cheering for your second pick the Brewers. Go Sox!!

Even though your team already has the heavenly mandate behind it, I will also be rooting for the White Sox.

I have meet many cubs fans and white sox fans over the years and I gotta say that white sox fans are the better of the two haha then again I always appreciate a wry and self deprecating humor that often coincides with being loyal to a team that has had its fair share of bad seasons. Plus I’ve had too many cubs mansplain baseball to me lol

Yeah, Cubs fans ...it seems at times they think they own the sport 🤣

True. Southsiders are no pretense and have no tolerance for those putting on airs …or bullshitters. Cubs are from the more affluent north side and have a superiority complex. Sox fans are the working class. The Sox are always minimized and treated as the “ red headed stepchild “ . We are thrilled to be in the playoffs with this fun group of young players.

I’ve been to a few games at both parks. I could be wrong, but I think the Sox pull a more ethically/racially diverse crowd.

Go White Sox lmao never thought I'd see this sub rally behind an AL Central team but the poll don't lie. The Phillies getting 109 Full-Ew votes out of 126 is a work of art, they really united everyone in pure hatred. Also wild that the Dodgers managed a single YES vote, like who's the one person out there trying to be different.

I didn't vote but why the Dodger hate?

WHOEVER SAID "YES!" TO THE DODGERS OR PHILLIES, GTFO OF HERE NOW

Braves need to finish the story and eliminate Philly

Then in that I'm a little torn on who should win the NLCS. Braves or Dodgers?? Nightmare scenario for us...

Anyone else think the White Sox have 2019 National vibes going on.

Not as many people are holding grudges from 2017 as I am against the Cubs.

Harper has really put me in a Dilema. I want to see him individually succeed however that means the Phillies get the benefits of that, It’s such a shame he had to go to a division rival. I really want to see him win a World Series in his career but I don’t want the Phillies to have anything to cheer about.

Anyone see that Harper defensive play 😂 or lack thereof?

Rooting for Fedde and the White Sox.

I don’t get the Astros hate. We beat their asses. Plus they humbled Philly in 2022. If anything they should hate us, not the other way around.

Cheaters will never get any love from me...I still root against ex astros from those years.

1

u/DHVF 29 - Wood 5d ago

Ex Astros from then sure, but everybody except Altuve is gone. I’m not gonna let that stop me from rooting for Yordan, Peña, etc. since they had nothing to do with the cheating

u/FrostyPlum 54 - Alvarez 5d ago

I will root against the Astros for as long as they choose to associate themselves with the legacy of a WS they cheated to win. Simple as that.

u/LockAccomplished3279 4d ago

Tell me more about

u/DHVF 29 - Wood 4d ago

Eh. I hate the Dodgers more. I forgive them for robbing that franchise, even though they cheated to do it. A necessary evil.

1

u/EuroStepJam 5d ago

Ok from a Braves fan explain the hate. Just a division rival?

7

u/SithOverlord101 47 - Kendrick 4d ago

Yes

Personally I like Atlanta the city and have friends in southeast Tennessee (though I liked it more like 15 years ago when my brother could afford a decent place in Candler Park as a teacher) but it's easy to hate a big fanbase that has for years not seen us as serious competition. Also the name Braves and the Chop are just more tokenizing BS and I think it's distasteful.

edit: Hypothetically if they rebranded and ditched the chop (never gonna happen), I could see the rivalry turning into a friendly one for myself.

For most, yeah, I think it's just the division rival aspect. From my perspective, the general sentiment toward the division seems to be (from most to least hated):

1) Phillies - personally, I'll never forget going to those early home games at RFK with Philly bussing fans down. Gave me such a hatred for them. Now seeing so many beloved former Nats thriving on long term deals there makes it hurt even more. Then since I now live a little outside Philly, I deal with these fans on a daily basis when they are doing well.

2) Mets - fuck the Mets.

3) Braves - feels like general dislike but not the same level of hatred and vitriol toward Atlanta. I personally have a soft spot for Atlanta since my mother was born in Atlanta, and pre-Nats, I rooted for the O's in the AL and the Braves in the NL. I personally will actively root for them when there is no detriment to the Nats, though I understand why most don't.

4) Marlins - I've never seen the same level of dislike toward them, likely as they've been often been our buddies in the basement of the division, outside of our run from 2012-2019.

I’d flip the braves and Mets, just because the braves are better and beat us more
