My story (31m) (COCSA)

When I was 10 one of my cousins from a different state moved in with my aunt, then-uncle, and their kids for a school year. He wasn’t doing well and he needed a change of scenery. He was a few years older than me and my mom had him over for sleepovers because I was the oldest and he was kind of an older brother figure.

Well every night he slept in my room and had me play Truth or Dare which always ended in sexual acts. It was usually oral, though he did try to rape me once. I suspect he did it to both my cousins he was living with too. I forgave him when I learned what happened to him. His mother would pimp him and his brothers out for drug money. She liked to get high and tie them up and force them to watch her and her friends for drug money.

20+ years later he’s still a piece of shit. His son is his whole world but he abandoned his daughter because she’s a girl. I made a lot of destructive decisions before I finally got my life together. I’m now a grad student studying to be a therapist and I work in mental health.

Interesting, I also looked to assist in mental health issues because of my earlier experiences. Sadly, I was not cut out for a support role, I took on their issues as my own.
