What happened to r/AMPAustralia? NSFW
It seems to have been banned for violating rule 7. Anyone have more info?

New one set up by rubradar. Moderated. Same vibe.

Unfortunately we can’t tell low effort posts to “just use the search feature” anymore.

To be fair, I actually hated the tone people got when they said that.
It's one thing to point new people to the search features but people were going in hostile.

I think the hostility was mainly aimed at those who had a history of asking for recommendations without ever contributing anything themselves. There were also times where 7 out of 10 posts were asking for recommendations vs reviews. People get annoyed with that.

What was Rule 7

u/Traust Mar 16 '26
Keep it legal. Don't post illegal content, and don't solicit or facilitate illegal or prohibited transactions.
Not sure how it violated that since those posts were generally taken down.

Regardless of it's legality in australia, reddit defines any and all sex work as a prohibited transaction.

That or another shop. I feel like it was a shop that reported it due to bad reviews as well!

Someone should challenge it. Rule 7 is:
Keep it legal. Don't post illegal content, and don't solicit or facilitate illegal or prohibited transactions.
And one of the prohibited transactions is sexual services. The thing is sexual services in a massage parlour is NOT illegal in Victoria. Unless someone in the forum talked about one of the other prohibited transactions (which is possible), the forum wasn't doing anything wrong. I say start another one. Call it AMPVictoria.

Still illegal in SA, WA and TAS

That's why I suggested AMPVictoria. I suppose I should have also said, only Vic reviews can be posted. 90% of the old sub was Victoria anyway.

It was clearly banned, sub went completely to shit anyway just a bunch of poor old men asking for information on some obscure parlor or area, good riddance.

Reddit rules are site wide without respect to local law, so it was always a matter of time.
Good riddance really.

I’m surprised by that last comment from you. You were a regular contributor on that sub and I valued your input (most of the time). I agree that the contributions of some were less than enjoyable but the sub still had a lot of value.

I don't think the subreddit has been of much value for years.
Absent moderators who let troll posters go on for years. Repetitive posts asking the same basic questions. Shop owners self promoting their stores across multiple accounts. Shop owners and disgruntled manchildren making up lies to discredit stores and individual SWers. etc, etc.
One of the few good things that the subreddit had going for it was that short period of time where sex workers were more welcomed and would transparently talk about the industry, but that was pretty short lived.
If a subreddit is able to take up the mantle and get some traction going, then I'd hope they'd tackle these things better than AMPAustralia did. But I suspect there is a general Reddit crackdown on such subreddits and it will be soon banned as well. Otherwise its an opportunity for a fresh start with (hopefully) better and more active moderators.

That’s fair. Let’s hope r/AMPAustraliaReviews will be better. The very short list of rules worries me though. I hope moderators u/rubRadarApp and u/tuglordd take note of the criticism of the old sub.
