Maryland Monthly Marketplace - Advertise your Maryland services, events, or merchandise here.
Since we have rules against advertising on the main part of the subreddit, we figured it would be nice to create a thread where users can get a little more leeway when it comes to advertising.
Use this thread to advertise any Maryland related services or merchandise to the users of r/Maryland. Got an Etsy store? Drop it below! Your favorite restaurant running a great special? Tell us about it!
Rules for this thread:
- All items, events and services must be related to Maryland in some way.
- Services and sales cannot be country or worldwide. (Walmart is having a sale! Is not okay. Old Bay is being sold at the Annapolis Walmart for 50¢ is appropriate)
- Ads should be posted by regular r/Maryland users, not bots or brand new accounts/accounts which have no connection to Maryland.
- We may remove any ad at any time for any reason should we deem it inappropriate.
- Any services or products advertised here must be legal in the state of Maryland.
This thread may evolve as time goes on and we see what it's used for.
The mods of r/Maryland do not endorse any products or services on this thread. Use your head, we will not intervene in any transactional disputes between any users.

Hello, I am Katie Thomson, Secretary of the Maryland Department of Transportation. Ask me anything!
Hello Reddit!
I was appointed by Governor Wes Moore last December to serve in this role, but I’ve worked in the transportation field for more than 30 years. Previously I had the honor to serve at the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration.
The Maryland Department of Transportation is responsible for maintaining our state’s transportation system – and it’s more than just roads! Our responsibilities also include the Port of Baltimore, the Francis Scott Key Bridge Rebuild Project, BWI Thurgood Marshall International Airport and our state’s public transit system, including MTA’s service in Baltimore and the upcoming Purple Line. We also oversee the Motor Vehicle Administration, which helps our residents through vehicle registration and driver licensing. We are Serious About Safety for all users of our system, and we want to ensure transportation in Maryland is sustainable into the future.
I am eager answer your questions about transportation (or where my favorite place to run in Maryland is!).
Proof:

I’ll start answering questions at 12 p.m. on Monday, October 5th, and plan to stick around for about one hour.
AMA!

Pennsylvania measles cases near 1,000 as outbreak spreads
reuters.comHow can we protect ourselves down here being so close to this? It was brought up on this sub a little while ago that so many are Amish in Lancaster county and those are the people coming down every week to the Amish markets. What if we boycott those places until they wisen up and get vaccinated?
What else can we be doing besides getting vaccinated ourselves?

MD Travel & Relocation Is there any way we can stop slowing down abruptly on the highways?
Tagged as travel cause technically it is travel
But this happens so much here. Traffic is going a normal speed and then almost instantaneously slows down significantly. I’ve seen traffic go from 65 miles an hour to 25 miles an hour in a matter of seconds many times. Can we stop this? Be considerate. Save our breaks.
Obviously, there’s extreme circumstances, like if deer is in front of you, but 90% of the time I see this on Maryland Highways it is nothing like that.

MD Politics Hutzell: Dan Schwartz has a real chance to beat Andy Harris in Maryland’s 1st District
I’ve been following the 38-year-old candidate since Independence Day, listening as campaigns for Congress in Maryland's 1st District. Through it all, I’ve asked a simple question — can Dan Schwartz win?

MD Nature Hike the King & Queen Seat in Fallston
If you are looking for a hike with a really cool view close to Baltimore, the King and Queen Seat in Rocks State Park, Jarrettsville, is a great addition to your list. It is a relatively short hike, but you can choose a longer route if you want more of a workout. https://chesapeake-inspired.com/hiking-the-king-and-queen-seat-in-fallston/

MD News Guinness Brewery Sales?
With the closing of the Guinness brewery at the end of the month, do you think they’ll put the stuff in their gift shop on deep discounts? Asking because they had a nice football jersey for sale last time I was there, but it was $70. Hoping to hear if maybe they’ll do a “closing” sale or something at a reduce price.

But it was pretty muddy. I think we mixed the mud and straw well enough to make bricks when it dries. Great time this weekend. No robots or Storm Troopers seen.

MD Politics Maryland is facing a major healthcare crisis in a few months.
Over 300,000 people in Maryland will face losing their health care on January 1st and the State’s plans on implementing the new work requirement check-in system have yet to be outlined. Certain low income and no income people with medicaid now must prove, through a still unclear renewal process, every 6 months that they have either worked 80 hours or earned $560 dollars a month in order to keep their Medicaid insurance. If you know how convoluted and difficult it already is to deal with getting SNAP, and disability with understaffed and hard to communicate with Department of Human Services, it is frightening to think the health outcome disasters many of us will be facing with these new requirements, which were passed in Trump’s horrific “big beautiful bill”. How is Baltimore City prepared for this? The communications from Wes Moore and MD have been vague and foreboding. As someone with a disability who is unable to work but has trouble navigating SSI because of my disability I am one of the people feeling hopeless with the prospects of dealing with keeping the insurance I have had for 13 years, having to potentially need to find new specialists, to face having to afford medications I need to not die of seizures that cost $600+ a month. If others are facing similar issues please reach out as I think this is a major problem that needs to be looked at more critically.

Nearly 11,000 fish die downstream from embattled Maryland dairy farm
This has happened multiple times *after* DEP told this guy to clean up his act.
I hope this farm gets shut down and this guy gets fined millions/goes to jail. Ben Flahart is a complete POS.
Edit to include the key grafs (although the Banner is available thru many libraries)—
A spokesperson for the Maryland Department of the Environment said in a statement Friday that inspectors estimate nearly 11,000 fish died across 25 species, with preliminary findings suggesting the die-off was caused by an overflow at a Kilby Farms manure lagoon.
MDE sued Kilby Farms and an associated real estate company this year over failures to comply with a 2025 settlement to end discharges of foul liquid into Basin Run. The waterway, which is beloved by locals for its population of wild trout, flows west through Cecil County before emptying into the Susquehanna River and the Chesapeake Bay.

Beautiful State
Visiting this weekend from Florida and want to say this is a beautiful state. Living in the deep south my whole life I was always told that Baltimore was a dangerous place. Now I see that viewpoint is BS. I’m sure you have bad areas like every city but one would think, by the news we get in the south, that it’s a constant war zone. Not true. People are very polite here. Drove from Baltimore down to Drayden. Gorgeous area. Wish I had time for fishing.
