Information No political opinions period.

r/LittleRock is NOT a politics sub.

Anyone who introduces political opinion into a thread or makes a post espousing a political belief will receive, at minimum, a temporary ban from r/LittleRock. Do not engage anyone who has chosen to share their political views here on r/LittleRock or you will face the same consequence.

If you simply must express your political opinions, use r/Arkansas_Politics or find any one of the tens of thousands of political posts going on elsewhere that are active right now.

Coverage of political events by news outlets is allowed. Posting about upcoming events is allowed. Posts and comments about your political beliefs and opinions are NOT.

If you are unsure whether or not something would be acceptable, please, just reach out to us via modmail before posting.

I know everyone is damned near feral at present, but please have some restraint, and keep discussions that begin to butt up against political topics civil, dispassionate, and matter-of-fact.

Finally, this sub has always been against hate, racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, and bigotry in general. It always will be. These are not political issues, they are matters of basic human decency. If you have a problem with that, unsubscribe.

Edited to further clarify.

Discussion/Question Stories from Hurricane Katrina Era (2005)

I moved to Arkansas a few years ago and find myself wondering what the Katrina aftermath was like since we are neighbors to Louisiana and Mississippi and had an influx of people overnight.

Anyone care to paint a picture of that time? Thanks so much.

Breakfast for clients

I asked this a while back but didn’t really get much of the answers I was looking for

So I need a couple of go to spots to pick up breakfast for clients. I work in the construction industry so I don’t need complex or anything that’s more catering style (which is what most of the recs were before.)

Spots where I can call at most a day in advance, relatively easy, preferably handheld or small bites; that can feed one to two dozen people without costing $200.

One decent reference I found was double B ranch in Bigelow who recently did breakfast quesadillas. Chick Fil a mini trays are probably my most reliable thing so far. Breakfast burritos would be great but at $10-12 a pop at places I’ve found it doesn’t really scale well expense wise if I do client breakfasts 3-4 times a week

Any recs are appreciated!

Discussion/Question Anyone Else Really Struggling With The Weather Here?

I just read the depressing posts from our meteorologists that hey folks, summer is coming back this week! As someone who doesn't do well with heat and humidity and loves the fall season, this is depressing for me. October will make six months of summer temps which is freaking insane to me. I guess it's another damn heat dome parked right over Arkansas. It feels like our state gets the worst of it out of the entire US this year and whenever we get a little bit of chance of rain system, it fizzles out by the time it gets to Little Rock.

The weather this year has had a real effect on me financially, emotionally and physically. I'm someone who loves a gloomy or dark rainy day at least every now and then. It puts me in a good mood and makes me feel cozy. But that has become a rare treat here.

On the physical front, this week has been brutal. I am now on day 5 of having miserable sinus headaches that even has caused pain to radiate to the top of my head and giving me neck pain too. I get a lot of sinus pain whenever the temp drops from warm to cooler or from cooler to warm, but I don't recall it ever dragging on this long. Red achy eyes sometimes too. Has anyone else been having the same experience this week? I don't want to go to the doc because my budget is already strained from the high Entergy bill! lol

Seriously, if this is the new norm and every year will become hotter and hotter then it's time to move.

In case anyone is missing a German Shepherd. There is a German Shepherd on the side of the interstate 430 N near exit 6 and 7. It appears to have a green collar. It’s on the left-hand side. I’m so sorry if this is your dog, it truly broke my heart seeing it!!!!!

Information Little Rock Sports & Activities Discord

Hey Little Rock!

I recently created a Discord server for people in Little Rock and the surrounding areas who want to meet new people, play sports, do fun activities, and get outdoors!

Whether you’re looking for someone to play golf with, organize a pickup game, go hiking, play board games, kayak, or try something completely new, the goal is to make it easier to find people who share your interests.

You don’t have to be good at anything, either! All sports, activities, and skill levels are welcome.

The server is brand new, so I’m hoping to get a good community going where people can organize activities, share local events, and make some new friends along the way.

If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, come join us! Feel free to invite your friends, too.

Let’s get out and do some stuff, Little Rock! 🤘

Event Anyone need a ticket for Pedro The Lion tomorrow?

Edit:: The ticket is no longer available.

I bought this ticket impulsively, but it's really not working out for me to go. Tickets were very limited and I think someone else would enjoy it more anyway.

Show is downtown at 8pm on 10/5, doors at 7pm.

DM me if you want to discuss!

Looking for someone to play tennis with

I'm new to the area and looking for someone to hit balls with without paying for a league or anything. I've been playing for about a year with no formal coaching or tournament experience. Looking to play evening weekdays or on weekends. Happy to play friendly games or just rallying. 24M if that matters. Thanks!

Recovery group interest

Hey all, I'm around 2.5 years sober and I don't do AA. I have a lot of reasons why, but ultimately found it unhelpful at best in my recovery journey. The problem is, I still need a recovery community, and I haven't been able to find one. I've tried the Buddhist 12 Step at EBS (I consider myself a casual Buddhist) but the 12 step approach doesn't sit right with me. Almost everyone I've ever met in recovery was a 12-stepper and I feel a bit alone in my sobriety. I want to work in this field eventually, but I feel a little shut out.

In 2019 I went to a Recovery Dharma meeting in Scottsdale and found it extremely refreshing and empowering. I would love to start a chapter here in Central Arkansas but I need people who are interested. It's a Buddhist-based recovery program that is trauma informed and requires no Higher Power or prayer (unless you're into that kind of thing).

Anyone interested, please DM me and we can work toward a Zoom meeting or something.

Places to sit and draw on Saturdays

I am looking to take a tween to sit and draw on a Saturday. Ideally it would have tables, an opportunity to get a drink (soda, coffee) and wouldn't mind people taking up space for an hour or two. Anywhere in the greater LR, NLR area would be great.

Free bike repair stations

Does anybody know where I can find a list or map of the public bike repair stations are in the city? I couldn’t find anything online, but surely the city or whatever group is putting them in should have some sort of list of all the stations in town.

I know there is one outside of Sterling Market and I have seen them in parks around town, but I can’t remember where.

Lost or Found Animal Lost/stray dog

I found this dog curled up in a corner of my yard. I’d take it in but I will be traveling in a few days and can’t get it to a vet before then.
I’m planning on calling Little Rock animal village tomorrow when they’re open, but figured I’d post it here first to see if anyone knows if this is a lost dog, wants to take it in, or has better idea of what to do with it than the Animal Village

I think she’s a girl. Doesn’t seem injured although she is skin and bones and I believe has fleas
