so MAGA farmers chased off immigrant farmworkers because Trump said they were taking American jobs, now they can’t find anyone to pick their crops. Funny how the pick-yourselves-up-by-the-bootstraps crowd suddenly needs someone else to do the work

They were promised black labor.

It was a wink wink sort of promise that circulated on social media in the magasphere.

There is a certain type of white American longing for the days before the civil war. Some of them are easy to spot flying the flag of their failed republic. Others just hide behind their votes.

Not really. The really big farms are benefitting from the expanded H2A visa program. They gain more control and effectively "lock-in" seasonal workers where undocumented migrants would have left due to bad conditions, unfair treatment etc.

You're right that they want slavery back, and this is getting them really close. The workers on the visas can't change location, quit, or complain without being sent back, so, the workers who were desperate enough to apply will accept worse conditions as a result.

H2A costs more than US workers or standard migrant labor. It has requirements for housing and pay rate that come with it. No farm anything should be voting for maga. Except the commercial farms looking to snatch up that family land.

Maybe on paper where you live, but in corrupt, deep red ag areas it's more like a state sponsored human trafficking system.

Got anything to back that up?

Why is it that after so many centuries they never learn that their flavor of diseased thinking always leads to misery?

They were promised black labor.

Everyone just kinda ignored that Trump went to meet black journalist and told them "illegal immigrants are taking black jobs".

They can have it, and white labor, as long as they are willing to pay enough to convince people to do it. I dug ditches, did electrical, contracting, but I would never have done it for the same price as I could sit on my butt for.

This is going to be a problem for them, though, because globalist trade means no or low tariffs, companies like Wal-Mart will just buy the cheaper foreign goods, and domestic producers can't raise prices to pay those wages. Oh, and the president fucked up tariffs *and* the NAFTA renegotiation, so tariffs aren't coming back ever. It's a monumental fuck-up.

If trump had just left NAFTA, it might have been possible to do something about the domestic market. You don't have to raise prices much to pay $25+ an hour for efficient workers. You can't do it at all, though, when mexican crops being picked by mexican workers at mexican prices are competing for shelf space at the retail stores, though.

The leopards are truly eating faces.
