so MAGA farmers chased off immigrant farmworkers because Trump said they were taking American jobs, now they can’t find anyone to pick their crops. Funny how the pick-yourselves-up-by-the-bootstraps crowd suddenly needs someone else to do the work

This was an incredibly obvious outcome. It is one the farmers lived through in prior years, as we have done the “immigration crackdowns” in years past. This is willful refusal to engage in reality. These people are actively choosing to refuse to learn. This is weaponized stupidity. I want them to learn from their mistakes and make better choices going forward.

To be clear: I hate the immigration policies that allow this outcome. The migrant workers should be given green cards. They provide a valuable service and should be rewarded for their hard work. They also deserve living wages and whatever else makes their lives better. Because that is what all people deserve.

It's no mistake these people voted for Trump because they are just like him. The same privilege of inheriting a family business, the color of their skin, the proud bigotry and the ability to fail upwards thanks to bailouts. Now as they run their inheritance into the ground, they'll be just like their hero after bankrupting casinos; playing victim.

No, they THOUGHT they were like him. They THOUGHT that there would be a solution that allowed their farm to succeed (slavery - they were promised slavery and expected slavery). Instead they are discovering that Trump is devaluing their assets (the farm land) so people richer than them can buy it for cheap.

They may still get slavery, but after they lose their farms they will be forced into slavery conditions to make a living.
