Will the U.S. try to invade Canada? 🇨🇦
13
u/whoreoscopic 11h ago
Their is no way in God's green earth, that the republican party is going to admit 10-13 blue states and 26 potentially blue senators into the union. Nor will the people support such a war. Everyone would article 25 remove trump before that and save their skins as they try to distance themselves from trump and rush to publish their tell-all book first.

u/Wonderful-Variation 11h ago
They're not planning to do it that way.  Look at what's going on with Alberta.  There plan is to annex Alberta itself first, then slowly get to work on capturing media sources and press throughout the rest of Canada.

u/Ok-Addition1264 11h ago
canadian separatists are a joke in canada.. a literal joke.
3
u/Wonderful-Variation 11h ago
Prove they're a joke by putting them in jail for treason.  Otherwise, the Trump administration is treating them as the real deal.
3
u/gerblnutz 9h ago
The GOP has been funneling money into Quebec and Alberta separatist groups since at least the "Freedom Convoy" occupation in Ottawa where nearly half of all their raised funds originated from right-wing groups in the US.

u/Skittleavix 9h ago
Maybe you should worry more about what’s happening in your own back yard before doling out sage advice to the former ally you’re now trying to annex economically?

Canada would be treated just like Puerto Rico, raped and pillaged and mortgaged with no representation. PR can never become a state because it's a black hole of debt the Yanks have been abusing for decades
6
u/whoreoscopic 11h ago
PR has less than 3.3 million people, not even 10% of 42 million. Also Canada has an actual history of being an independent nation, with its own institutions. That has fought the US once before successfully to stay as their own identity. It will not end up like Puerto Rico.

u/Salt-Pollution4314 7h ago
As part of the British Empire we've beaten them in three separate invasions. and that's not counting the pig war or the ones Taft threatened
1
u/wackyvorlon 6h ago
Also it’s vital to remember that Canada is fucking huge. We are the second biggest country in the world. The border is 8900km long.
These are very significant factors that contribute to making conquering us extremely difficult.

u/retiredfromfire 11h ago
They are destroying democracy, they have no intention of continuing with democracy in this country because a black man was elected President. Wake up
3
u/whoreoscopic 11h ago
The population if Vietnam was about the same as Canada's is now during the Vietnamese war. US lost there, if you try to oppress the Canadians it will end the same way, loss of Canada, plus a dissolution of the US as we know it.

u/Vagus_M 10h ago
I haven’t read the article, but I want to stress that this is actually sadly normal. This is what war colleges do.
The US has a plan to invade every country on earth, friendly or not. Famously, there are plans for alien invasions. There are plans for asteroid impacts. There is probably a plan if Cthulhu rises from the seas. This is a good thing, if you’re an American, not unlike an evacuation plan in case of a fire at an office building.
Undoubtedly Canada has decades old plans on what to do if the US does invade.
The only not normal thing about this, is the idiots actually currently contemplating it.
3
u/whoreoscopic 10h ago
I agree, we got plans for everything, but plans to take something doesn't equate to successful plans to hold something afterwards long term.

Max Brooks, the author of World War Z and the Zombie Survival Guide, also Mel Brooks' son, was a senior fellow at the Modern War Institute at West Point. He confirmed this when being interviewed about World War Z and said the idea for writing it came from a meeting where they were planning what to do if a zombie apocalypse happened. And yes they do have plans gamed out for pretty much everything they can think of. So if they have plans for zombie outbreaks and alien invasions, they probably actually do have a plan for if Cthulhu rose from the sea.

If i recall correctly, the last serious plan we had for defending against the us, was upheld into the 1950s, i think...🤔🤔🤔🤔
1
u/wackyvorlon 6h ago
Look, the fact is that the instant Trump started saber rattling the Canadian military would have started wargaming the invasion. Preparations are already underway for the contingency:
We’re increasing the number of drones owned by the Canadian forces by tenfold, and that’s just the beginning. There’s only one reason to do that.
2
u/okiedokie2468 11h ago
Who said anything about giving them a vote? By your own reason why would they?
0
u/whoreoscopic 11h ago
You don't admit almost 42 million people into the US without giving them some form of representation.
4
u/okiedokie2468 11h ago
You’re not admitting 42 million people into the US. You would be forcing 42 million
1
u/whoreoscopic 11h ago
If it is annexed and noone does anything about it (they would, again this entire scenario is an impossibility) then yes the regime would spin it as admittance.
1
u/okiedokie2468 10h ago
Of coarse you’re right on both counts, the admittance spin and the impossibility of an invasion scenario.
However if it did occur I’m sure Canadians would have the same voting rights as Puerto Ricans…1
u/whoreoscopic 10h ago
We can agree to disagree on this but I think its much easier to keep an island a 3 million far away from the continental US a territory. Than a population of 42 million that share a continuous land border with the US that's easily visible.
1
u/AccountHuman7391 10h ago
Or just not allow them representation.
1
u/whoreoscopic 10h ago
Had this same conversation with another person in this thread. We can agree to disagree on this. I believe it'll be very hard to keep 42 million people unrepresented when they will add more then 10% the Total US population, and that population sharing a very interconnected border with the current continental US states.

u/AccountHuman7391 10h ago
Sure, I just wouldn’t underestimate Trump’s desire to make very stupid decisions.
1
u/whoreoscopic 10h ago
Absolutely, I just think that this would be the bridge to far for everyone around trump. I firmly believe that for however much the craven around Trump blow smoke up his ass for proximity to power. At the end of the day they are self-serving to their cores, and will invoke the 25th to save themselves and their chances at power in the future. In this scenario.
1
u/AccountHuman7391 9h ago
Oh sure, it’s not likely to actually happen, but we keep saying that. A good reason to not elect a maniac, I suppose.

Ah yes... The roaring 30's... When Nazis convened at Madison Square Garden for their rally. We've come full circle.
5
u/cvr24 11h ago
As a Canadian, the only thing that worries me is that this regime will be stupid enough to try it. They don't care about economic and logistical challenges to making victory feasible in any of their others shenanigans, so why stop now? Canadian workers would instantly stop producing the stuff the Yankees need to wage war, instantly collapsing the global economy. Maybe that's what's needed.

u/ColeTrain999 7h ago
Would be a shame if that war came to the other side of the border also. No better way to end a war than to bring it to the homeland.

u/retiredfromfire 11h ago
Ill be joining Canada against the drug addict techbros and republican pedophiles

u/Ok-Addition1264 11h ago
aye.. I'm danish-american and had to have a little worry in the back of my head that I might have to do that bullshit over greenland.

Fuck no. German Nazis complained about fighting Canadians; American Nazis wouldn’t have a chance.
3
u/Real-Replacement-947 10h ago
With this administration it would result in Canada getting 50 new provinces
2
u/Snellyman 11h ago
Let me guess. These idiots in our administration thought it was a brilliant plan, just 95 years too early. Or is this a plan to normalize Trump's designs on Canada "See we were always planning on invading Canada, only I had the balls to do it" Naturally, forgetting that the two nations share a waterway with several vulnerable choke points.

Epstein’s buddy will do every outrageous act to make sure the files are never scrutinizedÂ
It will be a 30 second fight as the Canadians have their elbows up and the yanks are doused with maple syrup before being fed to the polar bears. Â

The US thought they had an insurgent problem in Iraq. They haven't seen anything if the US does this.

Trump if anything is transparent with his desires, but he's also lazy. Blowing up fishermen, Venezuela and Iran were litmus tests. The only reason he hasn't invaded Canada and Greenland is because the Iran thing didn't pan out so well.
This is a ghoul who thought Putin taking Crimea in 2014 was a stroke of genius and continues to try to emulate Putin. He's still salty about Ukraine not producing the Biden laptop, so he wants Ukraine to fall for that reason alone.

To be fair, in normal times, this isn’t a big deal. There’s rooms full of crazy contingency plans for almost every scenario one can think of no matter how crazy. The problem is, Trump and his ilk threaten all of our allies and have already gone to war twice to try and make us forget that he is in the Epstein files and Republicans are going out of their way to try and bury them.

u/mrwrrrmwrmrmrmrw 11h ago
The CBC did an interesting podcast about this last year when Trump was actively threatening to invade Canada, Greenland, and possibly Mexico. They make a convincing argument that the US military could successfiully occupy Canada.Â
Whether or not the insanely corrupt and incompetent second Trump regime could actually do it is another matter. Also at this point Trump just seems to be making a demented all-out attempt to shake down every possible country, organization and individual for money.Â

Basically I figure it would actually go a lot like Operation Barbarossa. Very rapid initial gains, but increasing distances would complicate logistics along with lack of existing infrastructure and stiffening resistance would eventually lead to them being halted before achieving victory.
1
u/Texas_Sam2002 11h ago
To be fair, most nations' militaries come up with contingency plans for every conceivable scenario. And this was from 1930.

u/wackyvorlon 6h ago
They will not, no. For many reasons. Hegseth is denuding the American military of its leadership, Canada has inked a deal to build a million drones, fighting along an 8900km front is a nightmare.
Trying to run logistics north would be immensely difficult while also having to fight off guerrilla forces. Additionally infrastructure further north in Canada isn’t nearly as extensive as it is in the South, further complicating logistics.
The cost to the U.S. would frankly be devastating. They would likely make very rapid early gains, but as they pushed north logistical challenges would compound with stiffening resistance to eventually turn into a stalemate and a process of attrition.

Can't win a battle with out help vs the reason for the Geneva convention and who beat them with a letter once. A letter. We beat the US with a letter.

u/Low-Refrigerator-713 1h ago
This is a normal thing though. It's a good way for officers to learn how to plan high level attacks.

Pre-World War II, the Department of War (back when it was actually legally called that), had contingency plans for fighting just about every country on the globe. War Plan Orange was for Japan, War Plan Red was Britain and the British Empire, including Canada, India, etc, there were other colors for other countries. Trust me, if you were an independent country, there was a color for you.
FYI. War Plan Orange was actually executed during World War II, though the disaster at Pearl Harbor slowed it down, and aircraft carrier task groups, not battleship battle lines became the focal point of naval action. War Plan Orange was pretty much Admiral Chester Nimitz's 1943-45 thrust through the Central Pacific in broad strokes (with MacArthur's New Guinea, Bismarck Sea, Philippines thrusts as a side show).

This has nothing to do with trump. The department of defense gets paid to plan for ANY eventuality. That includes another civil war. War with Mexico. War with Canada. War with a country if they fight they way they most likely would. But also if they choose a different path due to as yet unforseen external factor.
Tl:dr: this post is rage bait

To be fair, Canada also had a plan to invade the US around that time.
It’s more of a thought experiment/war game scenario than an actual plan meant to be put to use.

Better not. I'll turn on my own country if they try that.
