It turns out you cannot eat pure political rhetoric when the trade war bill comes due.

Nothing screams rugged, independent free-market capitalism quite like begging the government for a multibillion-dollar bailout because your own preferred trade policies vaporized your customer base.

You voted to burn down the global grain market and are now stunned to discover you actually have to live inside the ashes.
Broad tariff regimes inevitably trigger direct retaliatory duties on domestic agricultural exports, converting thriving family operations into federally dependent welfare cases overnight. Handing out billions in taxpayer-funded stopgap relief does not recover structural export market share; it simply forces the public to subsidize avoidable self-inflicted losses while multi-generational farms fold under the debt.

You’ll notice farm laborers are actually usually quite fit.

Farm owners are not farmers, they don’t farm, they own property and exploit the labor of others.

They eat like they are still waking up every day to till the earth with a donkey-drawn plow.

Are you saying you don’t need a 1700 calorie breakfast to ride a tractor?!

Not even that, he sat at the kitchen table all day "doing the numbers" while his underpaid migrant workers did the heavy lifting. Now that they're all deported or have run off scared of being deported, he has to actually put in work and his heart can't tolerate it. Hence the blood pressure medicine.

Walking in that field for the camera was probably the most exercise he's had in months.

He could barely walk, it was the waddle that happens when someone's hips hurt.

Yup, and voted to ship their cheap labor out of the country. Doesn’t matter, they get massive bailout funds. Not a bad gig being an American farmer.

I mean, fat farm boys are hella strong. Fit people look fit, strong people look fat. Just look at any of the strong man stuff. And that lifestyle does really contribute to being over weight.

THAT BEING SAID.... Farm owners are cash poor, but own a lot of assets. I guarantee the guy in the video is sitting on at least 300-500k in equipment and land worth over a mil. Which puts him pretty close to the top 10% of our population for net worth.

There are strong large muscle guts, but they don’t fucking wobble and people with them don’t waddle when walking the fields.

This isn’t true, lots of farmers do work their own land but they all have automated combines that they just sit in
