Discussion I LOVE LMU

I turned down four amazing universities for LMU and I’m so glad I did. I really wish they would advertise the amount of resources available for students a lot more because I was so worried about that coming in. I love our campus, I love my classes, I love my professor, I especially love the advisors. I am so proud to be where I am. GO LIONS! 🥹

What kind of resources? I go to Santa Clara but I don't know if it's comparable to LMU or about the same since they're both private Jesuit universities in California. I also thought about LMU but that would've been way more expensive for me and would require me to relocate to Socal.

jobs, internships, unlimited opportunities to be involved and get to know classmates, faculty, travel, etc. they make it nearly impossible for you to fail because you have so much support from peer advisors checking in to department advisors plus specially assigned advisors. Then we have so many events on campus. The list goes on

True. I went to the law school, am a total screw up, and my advisor still contacts me once a month, asks how I’m doing and sends me job offers tuned to my interests.

And while I was in school they were totally supportive of me, my weird problems, etc…

LMU truly has your back.

Like on-campus jobs and special networking events, career coaching, and internships on Handshake? I'm also a transfer and commuter so yeah very similar situation as you but the Norcal version.

There are also plenty of resources here too but too many students in California are chasing after UCs just because they're UCs. They're missing out. They don't realize there is actually far more support you get at a smaller private university like LMU or Santa Clara because UCs are dealing with overcrowding and more strained resources because the focus is more on preparing you for grad school and not too much on networking and specialized career events. And yeah the smaller class sizes does help and makes it easier to get know your professor for recommendations or referrals.

I went to a Cal public school for undergrad. Was invisible. Mindblown how well LMU took care of me and supported me as a law student.
