Ok, it's time for random speculation which will probably be wrong!

Zero and the butterfly lady are husband and wife (and/or co-researchers into nightmares). 

Baku & Nem maybe their children. The way that Zero mentions to Baku to look after his sister seems to hint to me that he might at least be Baku's father.

They are experimenting with nightmares to face a bigger threat that we know is coming later on. We already know that the nightmares power Zetz. That means if there is a bigger threat out there, then they would want to capture powerful nightmares somehow. 

Judging from how the nightmares possess people, my guess is the big bad will possess someone potentially Nem. This would set-up an emotional final confrontation. It might also explain why Nem is sleeping - to keep the big bad from coming onto reality. It would also allow the big bad to gently shape things throughout the season. 

Just speculation which will likely be wrong, but who knows.

I think there's no way Baku and Nem would be siblings. They already gives ship teases between them in last episodes with Episode 8 and 9 being biggest hints. Also since Zeztz is heavily inspires from Spy movies, Baku and Nem are probably like James Bond and His lady vibes in current episodes so far. Nem would be child of Zero and The Lady like you said if thay are former huaband and wife I think. but I don't think Baku would be their child. My speculation other than that is Nox and Nem are siblings or relatives. Nox said in Episode 5 that they are the same and that's maybe they have same origin.
