If there’s one thing I’ll always give Takahashi, it’s that he delivers banger first act finales…

Just hope he keeps up the momentum in act 2. I’d prefer that Seven’s next mission wasn’t “Compete in the workplace tournament”.

As shady as CODE is… Ze Lady doesn’t seem like a paragon of virtue either. I’m starting to think Kensei isn’t a very good judge of character. I am loving her vibe though. Feels like the big bad Stomach matriarch we never got in Gavv. Would love if she ends up as the final boss.

What happens to a Nightmare if the host is killed IRL before the Bad Dream reaches completion? Perhaps later in the show Baku will be ordered to kill a dreamer to stop an exceptionally dangerous Nightmare, really escalating the theme of “Individual lives vs the greater good”.

Think maybe Kensei could be a plant? Not by CODE but maybe Zero.

One could say he's a Double Agent

Or perhaps a sleeper agent in both senses of the term with him being both an agent that works in his sleep but also a sleeper agent who maybe erased his own memories to be a perfect infiltrator.

…holy crap you might be on to something.

CODE isn’t doing enough to solve the Nightmare problem, so Zero has his most trusted agent go undercover to infiltrate The Lady’s operation without CODE’s oversight.

Nox being “abandoned in the dream” was deliberately set up to make his defection as realistic as possible, with all of their confrontations being them keeping up the act for their respective superiors (though I don’t doubt that there’s some lingering resentment from Nox).

The whole “Eliminate the Enemy” Mission was a test from Zero to see if Baku’s ideals could shine through the murkiness of the Spy world (”Dont let me down”)

I’m a little obsessed with this theory.

But that doesn't explain why Zero would tolerate:

  • Nox helping the bomb nightmare, which increases Baku's workload and possibly killed a lot of people
  • Nox being in a coma for years while Fujimi is looking for him. As I understand, his death wasn't actually faked so it seems sloppy.

They have to convince both organisations that Nox has turned against CODE and is helping the Nightmares.

For that to work, it has to appear as real as possible and Nox has to get his hands dirty so there are no doubts whose side he is on.

No half measures

I think the plot is Nox is "training" Baku so that he can defeat Nox's nightmare. If not he is trapped inside his nightmare forever as you can see Nox is unable to "see" his nightmare as he is too fast.

Tbh I am not too concerned about Fujimi's plot but they do act as a little hint that the real world and dream world can be combine
