makeupšŸ’„ What eye makeup would suit me

Post image

I don’t know what to do with my eye makeup. I usually just do a thin liner and mascara because I don’t think kohl looks that good on me.
I tried a glittery liner this time but now I’m not really sure what else would suit me. What kind of eye makeup should I try

random/chitchatšŸ’¬ sister using stuff and acting entitled

My elder sister, who earns more than ₹1 lakh a month, gives me ₹500 pocket money every month, which I genuinely appreciate. I’m unemployed right now because I’m still studying, so I obviously don’t have my own income and I have to depend on my mom sometimes. I’m already quite conscious about that.

But what genuinely pisses me off is that whenever I buy something with my own money, she somehow HAS to use it, even when it doesn’t even benefit her. Today she used my ketoconazole 2% + zinc pyrithione 1% shampoo, which isn’t some normal shampoo that anyone can casually use. It’s a medicated shampoo that I bought specifically for my dandruff. She doesn’t even have dandruff, yet she used almost HALF the bottle. 60 ml literally costs ₹300. If she wants to use it so badly, she can literally buy her own, especially when she earns more than ₹1 lakh a month. Why does she have to use something that I specifically bought for myself?

And this isn’t even the first time. I usually share my things with her without making a big deal out of it, but there’s a difference between sharing and someone constantly feeling entitled to your stuff. She once took the expensive pink running shoes my boyfriend gifted me and wore them on some fucking trek, then brought them back completely muddy. Like WHO wears pink running shoes on a trek?? 😭

What makes it worse is that she keeps bringing up the ₹500 she gives me, like I should constantly be grateful for it and therefore tolerate everything she does. I AM grateful for the money. I know she doesn’t have to give it to me. But giving me ₹500 a month doesn’t mean she owns everything I have or gets some kind of authority over me.

I’m not her servant just because she gives me pocket money. I don’t owe her constant sweetness, attention or the obligation to talk nicely to her every single time, especially when I’m tired or simply don’t feel like talking to anyone. I’m allowed to have boundaries with my own things. I’m allowed to be annoyed when someone uses or damages something I paid for without asking.

And honestly, I think that’s why I got so furious today. It’s not really about the shampoo. It’s the fact that this keeps happening, and whenever I try to feel even slightly independent, I’m reminded that because I don’t earn right now, my things somehow matter less.

even my mom is completely on her side and always says she will restock it while she never does im so pissed

Product Reviews✨ Reviewing all the sunscreens and moisturizers I’ve used so far šŸ’«

Skin type: Oily & sensitive

Sunscreens ā˜€ļø

Sunstop Gold — 10/10 — My HG! Takes around 5 minutes to blend completely, but once it sits on the face, there’s no white cast, oiliness, or heaviness. Feels good on the skin, neither too dry nor too greasy. Will suit all skin types.

Blynds SPF 80+ — 5/10 — I had great expectations from this. Blends great, sits well on the face, and gives a matte look. Unfortunately, it broke me out badly.

Blynds SPF 40+ — 6/10 — Good for indoors, gives an oily look, and is cost-effective. I sweat when I wear it outdoors, and it gives me a grey cast after some time. The good part is that it caused no breakouts.

Moisturizers šŸ’§

Efatop Gel — 10/10 — This is a great new find! Pricey, but you need only a small amount. It claims to work on under-eye hollowness too, don’t know about that, but it gives bomb hydration. No greasiness after applying, sits well under sunscreen. Loveee it!

Hydew Lotion — 8/10 — My previous HG. Blends well, has a lotion consistency, causes no breakouts, and gives a slight glow when applied. Has niacinamide. The only con is that it makes me look slightly dull after some time.

Sebamed Clear Face Gel — 3/10 — Not a fan. Creates a layer on the face and sometimes pills. Doesn’t moisturize properly. Holy fail!

Questions/Adviceā“ Barrage of posts selling CT products

Seeing the CT rush, selling freebies here makes me wonder what is so enchanting about it the brand name or the fact they think 500 rs or so doesn't matter and it's worth buying the brand.

I came across atleast 10 plus posts all selling vanity pouch or 2 3 ml of product. And almost all seems to be sold out.

Genuinely curious. Am I missing out not buying such miniature freebies ? Is this really so high quality that it's worth buying from unknown sellers.

Ps- no diss here. Genuinely trying to understand the subs related to decluttering and online selling. Especially since people can easily be duped with fakea.

Questions/Adviceā“ Underarm pigmentation!!

Post image
• Upvotes

I have been using a number of roll ons since past a year (Chemist at play, nivea, wishcare) but haven't observed any good results. Ofc odour control was good enough but didn't help much in pigmentation and honestly spending so much on roll on i don't find worth. So what are your opinions on using potash alum (FITKARI) for underarm pigmentation..

random/chitchatšŸ’¬ Brands that DON’T post annoying misleading ads?

Post image
54 Upvotes

Here is the ad I’m talking about: https://www.instagram.com/p/Dd6y6QYsGsL/

There’s no straight up lying, just editing and clipping videos of Alia to make it look like she’s talking about them, and then a wear test by some influencer (I’m assuming, idk him) showing miraculous results in just a few uses.

I mean; do brands think we’re all stupid? I don’t want to buy any more of plum’s products after this, (ironically I am using their niacinamide lol), but it’s not just them, so many other brands take this route for their advertising. I’ve been following skincaresatirist on insta who points a lot of them out. It’s so bizzare!

I’m fine w influencer marketing even when it’s cringey but this leaves such a bad taste in my mouth. I want to support an ā€˜honest’ brand but even huge international brands pull crap like this sometimes so who even knows…

Did anyone else come across this ad?

suggestions šŸ’¬ Rosemary ark vs rosemary water. what's the difference?

• Upvotes

I've just shifted to Bangalore and while I'm lucky my hair hasn't started falling out, I have started taking better care of my hair to protect them. I oil weekly using castor + jojoba oil followed by a scalp massage and then shampoo and mask.
I have read a few things about rosemary ark that supposedly works well too.
My questions are -

What is your hair care routine when using rosemary oil/ark? If you use both, I’d love to hear that routine as well!
When do you apply rosemary water? I read that people spray it on after they get out of the shower or before bed (which I won’t be doing since sleeping on wet hair is damaging)
Lastly, which one do you use? Since, making it at my pg won't be possible so I'm looking for good trusted brands that I can buy .

Product Reviews✨ Who ever suggested this as "fresh" "clean", count your days, I'm coming for y'all

Post image

I really wanted something fresh under budget, I made a post and one scent was repeating in this catagory that was naseem musk tahara, everyone was saying that it's so fresh cleannnnn smells like dove or something, but in reality, it smells like a cheap ass agarbatti or just something very basic, not good. And i understand that everybody has different preferences, but people who were saying that it's fresh and clean, I'm really surprised. I hope your pillow is warm on both sides .This is definitely not fresh or clean scent. Wasted my money, sad

skincare🧓🫧 Different Tyrosinase Inhibitors and their pathways [ Part 2 ]

Hey Gorgeous! I’m back with the second part of the educational series on various tyrosinase inhibitors + their pathways.

If you haven’t checked out the first part yet, hop onto my profile to view it.

We’ll learn about how the most popular OTC ā€œtyrosinase inhibitorsā€ on the market work, and what they bring onto the table beyond this.

Let’s begin!

1. VITAMIN C

The man. The myth. The legend.

Pretty PRETTY sure more than 95% of us here had started our detanning, or depigmentation journey with this bad boy here, me included.

A jack of all trades to the T (we’ll talk about it’s zones of mastery some other day lmao). It tackles melanogenesis at more than one stages, not only at the tyrosinase inhibition one. (Check out my post on the melanin cycle on my profile for more information)

First, as we already know, it works as an amazing anti-oxidant, tackling the production of melanin at the first base. Boosts the effectiveness of your sunscreen too. Add in pycnogenol to the mix and now you have one of the most powerful antioxidant combos out there to seize the day!

Oxidative stress on skin = Increased Inflammation = Triggered melanocytes = Increased melanin production

When it comes to the actual tyrosinase inhibition stage, it works in two significant ways.

A. As we discussed in the first part, Vitamin C interferes with copper ions in the tyrosinase enzyme. Think of the copper ions as the machinery parts and bits of the tyrosinase enzyme. Without them it’s now basically defunct.

B. It’s antioxidant activity goes beyond the surface level. In simple words, in the entire process that leads to the production of melanin, the various intermediate steps go through an oxidation process. Vitamin C, being a strong antioxidant, deters that.

2. KOJIC ACID

This dude here has mastered the art of dismantling the copper ions in the tyrosinase enzyme. For further information on this, kindly refer to the first part.

3. ALPHA ARBUTIN

This is a gentle derivative of the PRESCRIPTION ONLY baddie HQ. Gentle doesn’t mean ineffective. Gives beautiful results in its own sweet time.

Its significant pathways include:

A. Directly interacting with tyrosinase to decrease its effectiveness during the conversion process of tyrosine to melanin.

B. Pretends to be a substance tyrosinase interacts with. (Refer to part 1 for more info)

C. Destabilisation of the copper ions (not its strength though)

4. TRANEXAMIC ACID

It doesn’t work the classic way. Its job lies right before the tyrosinase inhibition stage.

In simple words, UV or Inflammation of any other sort leads to signals being sent to the melanocytes to start off with the process of melanogenesis. Melanogenesis is the process in which melanocytes produce melanin. Tranexamic acid cuts off this very signal. That’s its superpower.

5. THIAMIDOL

This one fits the basic job description of a classic tyrosinase inhibitor well. Its most significant pathaway is directly dealing with tyrosinase 1v1 and decreasing its effectiveness.

6. NIACINAMIDE

It isn’t a tyrosinase inhibitor per se. Its superpower lies in preventing the melanin transfer from the melanocytes to the surface of our skin. (Please refer to the melanin cycle post for more info)

7. 4-N-BUTYLRESORCINOL

It belongs to the same resorcinol family as Thiamidol, but has a small edge over it.

Beyond the classic direct inhibition method, it also pretends to be a substance Tyrosinase interacts with. (Check part 1 for more info)

8. AZELAIC ACID

Another jack of all trades!

Anti-inflammatory powers + Tyrosinase Inhibition + Anti-bacterial properties + much more. No wonder derms LOVE this for acne. But we’ll stick to one topic today.

It tackles melanogenesis at multiple stages too! At stage 1, it reduces inflammation, leading to PIH prevention.

Its superpower lies in tackling abnormal melanogenic activity. In simple words, it helps calm down hyperactive melanocytes, helping balance out melanin production. (Great for melasma & PIH for this very reason)

While it also directly deals with Tyrosinase to inhibit it + has antioxidant roles in the melanogenesis process, but its strength lies in calming the abnormal melanocytes down.

Well, I guess that’s it for the day! šŸ¤āœØ
