This video only needed to be :15 seconds instead of 1:30

Came here to say the last 10 seconds at the most.

I don't know. I think it was kind of helpful to be able to go back and forth to the forward facing camera where there is absolutely no sign of that car, and the rear camera where it's there the whole time.

u/fucuntwat 13h ago
What’s there the whole time? The car that hit him is not visible in any of the views before the accident

u/WVPrepper 13h ago
It was in the blind spot, obviously, but it doesn't speed in from the right, it's just ... There.

Good thing there was 40 seconds of nothing before they even moved, on both sides of the tape

Right? Stupid clips like this get an instant downvote from me.

Dude yeah I get so mad at these clips I could've watched like 4 tiktoks in the time that I lost

u/persePHOreth 18h ago
Damn, I was so busy watching the lady behind you bobblehead to read her phone, watch the light, read her phone, watch the light; that I almost missed the left side of the screen where the car suddenly appeared up against you. Wild.
I usually see people face down in their screen for a split second driving by. Sitting here watching it on camera is fucking infuriating.

u/Master_Sw0rd 17h ago
Drives me insane as well, like I get it… people are addicted to their phones.. but seriously? You can’t sit at a red light for 60 seconds without having to bury your face in social media or texting? It’s sad honestly.

u/Mr_Jack_Frost_ 15h ago
Just about every red light I come to, I immediately see people all around me on their phones.
While driving, I’ve noticed (at least in my area) a lot of people will use the phone mounts that were originally for using GPS hands-free to play videos and scroll tiktok or whatever while driving, FFS.
Using a phone while driving was finally made a crime here a little while back, and that’s when I noticed more people using the mounts to “justify” their phone being out. Like I’m guessing their excuse would be “oh no, officer, I just need it there for my GPS” when in reality they’re scrolling for their entire commute to/from work. It’s mind-boggling and infuriating as well.
I’ve started to be able to predict who’s on their phone, because their speed doesn’t remain consistent, they wobble in their lane, etc. and it actually looks pretty similar to impaired driving. But then as I pass them, sure enough they’re scrolling. I wish every one of them would be caught and have their driving privileges suspended for a while. Maybe that would teach them how serious it is.

I don't understand what's happened in our society where it's become so normalized to stare at your fucking phone while driving. It isn't going to kill you to read Cheryl's neighborhood gossip after you park, jfc.

Pretty sure the one that had 1/2 mile to see the red light was doing the same
109
u/Commercial_Can7988 15h ago
Ok seriously. Where did he come from??? I've watched this a few times and there isn't even a shadow of them appearing. No other footage from other drivers sent to you, huh?

u/abat6294 14h ago
It’s not that mysterious. The black car runs the red light and gets alongside OP’s car while staying in the blind spots of both cameras.

There is a tiny shadow in the rearview camera right before impact. I had to watch it three times to catch it though.

That was a protected turn delineated by a curb, so no, that's not where that driver came from. The OP says that they ran the red, it was just done in the gap between camera fields of view.

u/millllllls 12h ago
That wouldn’t have been running a red light though.

We can clearly see the lights turn green in the first POV, that far right lane turning right would definitely have a green light at the same time. Advance lights are only when there’s opposite traffic, but in this case it’s a T-intersection, nothing but grass on the opposite side.

Learn to crop your fucking videos, Jesus.

u/WeirdIndividualGuy 9h ago
OP knew how to stitch two separate videos together, but not how to crop. Smh

Missed the point of the video buddy.

Because I started collecting social security waiting for the fucking point to arrive.

Lmao everybody can just fast forward to what they need to see. Jesus. “Why isn’t everything built for my convenience ahhhhh” ridiculous mindset.
2
u/PaisleyLeopard 9h ago
What’s more reasonable, for OP to spend 30 seconds editing their video before uploading, or for everyone else to have to search for the relevant clip?
I didn’t ask to see this video, OP wanted it to be seen. The least they can do is crop out the minute and a half of useless footage before they post.
2
u/boktanbirnick 5h ago
Because I don't know when the thing happens?
Do you recommend me to skip every 5 seconds, miss what happens, get back 20 seconds and watch it again?
That's literally much better than OP edits their video, in your opinion?
3
u/jabathehutjfjkskka 13h ago
Do you people never use the little scrolly button to fast forward videos? Maybe it’s because my attention span sucks, but when I realize a video is longer than I’d like to sit and wait, I use that sucker to fast forward and see where the drama is. It’s better than leaving useless comments to complain about the length of a video
3
u/DocChloroplast 13h ago
It is incredibly depressing that people lack the attention spans for a minute-and-a-half video.
7
u/BoozeIsTherapyRight 10h ago
A minute and a half video is fine. A minute and a half of OP sitting at a fucking traffic light with nothing happening is not fine.

What is a "ghost car"?
40
10
u/theoem 17h ago
I've only heard "ghost car" used for a car with no or fake license plates.
16
4
u/MelodicTangerine7220 17h ago
Well, I call it that because i actually have another video (never posted) where a “ghost dog” appears in front of me as it runs out of oncoming headlights, and I clip him with my bumper. So for me on a personal level, it’s was just sort of thematic given the context. No other thought really went into it.

It's always been used to refer to cop cars with no or hard to see markings in my experience.

Based on this and your username, are you in NB?

I assume that the op means a car that came out of nowhere. In the front-facing video there is no car coming but in the rear facing video he's right there the whole time.

If the first 30 seconds was to show that the OP had the right of way, there was a better way to show it.

u/SnugSteamBoat64 17h ago
needs to be edited to be the back camera shot first, then the front, and way shorter

This video will literally take away months of people's lives waiting for something to happen. Maybe more. You should take it down and maybe not even repost the shorter version.

u/Dudemansir521 15h ago
Blind spots exist, especially when turning away from the direction the cameras are facing. Funny ghost car in October tho XD

So glad I just watched a video of a random person sitting at a red light

obviously in your bind spot i can only assume, as that should have been an easy spot as it would have been obvious they werent stopping, it looks like you both hit each other (rather than them hitting you or you hitting them).
-25
u/Go_Gators_4Ever 16h ago
It appears the sun is directly in the face of the driver that hit you. Plus, they have their sun screen lowered all the way down to where they really have zero forward view.
I would post a zoomed in snapshot feom your video, but you didn't allow pictures to be posted.

u/MelodicTangerine7220 12h ago
The car in the lane next to where she should have stopped clearly had no issue seeing the light. You would think she would at the least seen the big ass white truck ahead. She obviously wasn’t paying attention.
