Discussion Green Choice.
So I have a theoretical situation I want to run by everyone.
In the event that Aegon the elder dies some time shortly before Visery who do you think The Greens would push for the iron throne to go to? The way Aegon dies doesn't really matter in this hypothetical but let's just say he gets a burst belly just like Grandpa Baelon.
They can either push Jaehaery's claim or Aemond's. On one hand male primogeniture which the greens are pushing says Jaehaerys comes before Aemond. Jaehaery is a toddler though so can't make speeches or sit the iron throne or do any king stuff for a decade plus. But if they do choose Aemond because Jaehaerys is a toddler you sow the seeds for a second succession crisis when he dies because who gets it Jaehaerys or Aemond's children?

Jaehaerys easy. Who cares if he can't do anything. The Small Council will be half Hightower during that Regency. The other half will be whatever Lannister & Baratheon.

Il fatto che Jaeherys sia un bimbo piccolo in realtà aiuta anche Aemond che può diventare reggente usandolo come prestanome

I imagine the Greens would support Jaehaerys however Aemond would pull a Richard III and lock his nephews away until they conveniently disappear. Unsure what he would do with Jaehaerya

Prince Jaehaerys, without question. He’s the agnatic primogeniture heir of Aegon I the Conqueror, as decided by the Great Council of 101 AC, and he’s the ideal instrument for a puppet for Otto, Alicent, and others that would desire to groom and manipulate him.

that's a future problem and one you can try to avoid by marrying Aegon's child(ren) to Aemond's... the bigger and current problem is that crowning brother over son makes Rhaenyra's claim way better and with TG just losing a dragon (Sunfyre) they can hardly afford to make things easier for Rhaenyra
so realistically they should push for Jaehaerys - the problem is that it's quiet risky as many lords wouldn't want a child for a king with about a decade of regency
basically Otto is damned because both choices are risky

Otto would be thrilled to have a powerless child as the official king while he does the actual work of running the kingdom

The difference between the black and the green claim is that the blacks claim depends solely on Rhaenyra being alive while the greens have plenty of male heirs, Aegon dying doesnt change anything especially when the largest dragon is still on their side

Aemond first he is a member of the green, has the strongest dragon, and is more battle tested. There is a historical precedent established first by Maeghor and Jahearys since they superseded the direct heirs.

Jaehaerys as king with Aemond as regent
