Finally bought Strive for myself after playing it religiously at a friend’s house. Neither of us are good by competitive standards, but we can pack a punch (literally)
(P.S, sorry for the frame rate. Our wifi was bad and our laptops are worse.)

Good afternoon,
Hello my fellow glue eaters, I have just recently got Guilty Gear Strive and I need some help. Nothing specific, just some tips and tricks or any useful info about how to play Potemkin, any simple combos to work with and how to work around any counters he has.
Thank you for your time.

You can find the event on Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/abadidea.bsky.social/post/3muhwigdsws2w
This was for today's prompt, "Skies Defended: Combo that starts from air-to-air"
The fact that I can pull this off in live matches makes me appreciate it even more.

Not sure how many other PC players get this, but every time I launch Strive it opens at 1080p for a few seconds before it switches to my actual resolution. On my setup ([ASUS XG27AQDMG / 2560x1440p 240hz]) the screen flashes and the windows on my other monitors get shuffled around every single time. Editing GameUserSettings.ini and launch options didn't help, the game just overrides them at boot until the save loads. If you are seeing these same symptoms, flashes, windows moving, or a black window smaller than your native res stuck in the rop left of the screen this is the same bug affecting me.
In other words for example:
1. Unreal Engine 4 sees and loads GameUserSettings.ini settings -> 1440p fullscreen
2. Games own code hard forces 1080p exclusive fullscreen due to a check that always fails
3. Following standard Unreal game launch process System.sav file gets loaded and goes back to 1440p fullscreen again
I dug into why and ended up making a small mod for it. Now the game just starts in whatever resolution and window mode you picked in the settings, no switch. Its two different fixes one for Arcsystemworks own code another to a small engine quirk you can read the tech details on the mods page.
It's one DLL that goes in the Binaries/Win64 folder next to the exe. It doesn't hook anything or touch netcode, input or gameplay, it only changes a few values at startup. Windows (Steam) only so far. I tested it alongside StriveLabs and they work together, but I haven't tried Steam Deck or Linux or the Microsoft store version of the game. Happy for feedback. This has been an issue I know has annoyed me since launch so im happy to have solved it. Naturally this is mostly a bug in the games own code so I've also already sent a detailed report to the developers using their official portal on their website.
Download and install steps are here: https://gamebanana.com/mods/723773
If it doesn't work for you, it writes a log file next to the DLL. Post it here and I'll take a look.

I don't really think there's a character I believe is overrated, and I don't really have a hated character either, they're all so fucking cool.

Hellow wonderful folks!
Recently bought the game and I am done with my placements and was placed in Silver 3 after the 10 matches.
Chipp really dies fast LOL, I main Akuma so I am kinda used to it.
Anyone who might be able to recommend good BNB and cashout combos or can maybe recommend what to learn, maybe a good Chipp resource in YT. I am halfway done with the missions. I am 5 hours in and the controls still feel alien, I come from SF6 and KOF so yeah there is a bit learning to do.
Thank you!!

For some background, I'd consider myself pretty much new to fighting games, I've played a small amount of SSBU on a friend's switch, though they're a lot better than I am. In SSBU, my favourite characters to play are probably Byleth, Marth, and Ganondorf. I've also played a tiny bit of Injustice 2 against my siblings, but the game basically devolved into who could land the overhead since none of us knew anything beyond basic block and grab inputs, making Scarecrow and ranged characters like Starfire incredibly powerful. I actually did learn a few moves on The Joker, and he was pretty fun to play with his shock buzzer counter attack. Apart from that, absolutely no other fighting game experience, but I'm a big fan of Sekiro if that counts for anything. I played through a few of the missions in GGST already, but couldn't manage to do the combo consistently enough on the last 3 star stage on Mayfield, so my execution's probably pretty poor. Please do let me know what you think might suit me!
