Please take a look at the updates we've made to the rules.

Next month
Check the comments to vote for next month's game!

This month: Advance Wars

Just play regular campaign, Advanced Campaign is next level stuff and I'm not going to require that. Lol. We also won't be messing with the final Rivals! mission, which has to be unlocked in a very specific way. Definitely check it out if you're not familiar, but we won't do it for points this month.

Campaign mode is available after you complete Field Training. If you're already familiar with the game and you don't want to do Field Training, just tell Nell that you don't want to do it, and then you can finish just the last mission to unlock Campaign.

Choose any mission path you want to when you have a choice.

half point: Complete the third mission in Campaign (Air Ace) and have Max join your team.
1 point: Complete the Kanbei's Error? mission in Campaign.
2 points: Complete the Final Battle mission in Campaign. (must be completed and posted in October.)

Games I made a fruit fly Tamagotchi for the Game Boy Advance using a small FlyWire connectome

I’ve been building a GBA homebrew project featuring an anatomical fruit fly model and a small neural circuit extracted from real FlyWire data.

It includes:

- Animated walking, flight, feeding, grooming, and rest.

- A neural activity viewer with 128 neurons and 2,048 connections.

- A Tamagotchi mode: feed, water, play, clean, sleep, and medicine.

- Health, energy, stress, bond, and age, with SRAM saves.

The body comes from the flybody project. Its articulated 3D model is rendered offline into sprites for the GBA. This is a simplified simulation, not a complete fly brain; the extracted circuit gates feeding through MN9.

The latest release addresses SuperCard/SuperFW boot issues.

ROM and source: https://github.com/LakoMoor/FlyWireGBA

I’d love feedback on the fly’s appearance and controls—and hardware reports if you try it on a flashcart!

I'm returning to play a lot of my old Gameboy games, and Goodboy Galaxy got me thinking

What Gameboy Original, Color, or Advance games should I track down and play that have been released homebrew or indie?

Modded My brass + black BoxyPixel SP build

Brass BoxyPixel shell, paired with black anodized parts for the front and back.

One problem along the way: the speaker went silent as soon as I closed up the shell. My guess is the brass was touching the board somewhere and shorting it. I put some insulating tape on the inside of the shell around the cartridge slot, and that fixed it. Turned out really nice in the end. The brass and the black go well together.

Happy to answer questions.

Other Custom Flash Cart Art For A Project I Haven't Finished

These are the custom pieces of art/graphic design I made for my flash cart, which was a part of a whole project. A very kind person on this subreddit gave me a free broken GameBoy Pocket, which I was gonna use for a mod project. I got a new shell and painted it the exact color of pink I wanted. I had the rechargeable battery mod and the backlit screen mod. I was gonna have my friend help me with it, but it kept get put off indefinitely, and learning soldering became too daunting, so its been on the backburner since like April or May. I was making a video about it. I had all the footage recorded up to the point that required soldering.

I'm really proud of the custom art I made for it. I do have it printed out by a couple Etsy sellers. I never posted it partially cause I was scared of someone stealing it or something, and partially because I wanted the first time the internet saw it to be in the video. At this point I'm not sure when I'll get around to it. I've been overwhelmed and will continue to do so lmao.

I hope y'all think its cool too!

Mod/Modding Issue with Funnyplaying GBC Recharable Battery Mod

Hoping I'm just overlooking something simple as I've installed this kit several times and never had an issue. I'm now on my second kit and it doesn't even light up when plugged in. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Gameboy worked perfectly prior to this install

Ik this is a common issue so I’m hoping it’s not busted, all the pins look intact cleaned out the cartrage slot with 91% isotope alcohol with the card method and toothbrush but to no avail, it was working fine earlier but suddenly is really garbled with multiple working cartrage tested on an og gameboy

I finally got myself a Gameboy micro. This completes my collection of GBA consoles. I love how small and portable it is.
A new battery is on the way for it.

I'm playing Pokemon fire red on it. Does anyone have any other game recommendations for me to play on the micro?

Questions GBA Pokemon Save Assistance

Im trying to get all the pokemon from the GBA games to before Pokemon Bank closes. I bought an Epilogue GB reader. I got a physical Emerald cartridge, which I think is fake now that I've studied up on it but I already did a lot of progress on it. I just wanna be able to have the progressed save file on the physical cartridge so that I can be able to read it on the GB Epilogue no problem and get to finishing the dex before pokemon bank closes.

- I first "Backup Game" to have the ROM. Then go to "Start" which then prompts to load an "Integrity" popup

- Game loads to the menu with no save file with progress showing up, while the actual GBA SP does read it and shows where I last saved

- From the initial ROM backup, I use the "Bootleg GBA Save Extractor and Injector" to extract the save file. The save file is definitely there since I tested the ROM on mGBA and its where I left my progress. (side issue is that in-game saving seems to be stuck for some reason idk if this is an issue related). The file name of the extracted does output like ".....halfpatched.sav" so idk if thats also an issue

- I've tried, on the Playback software, "Upload save" to have that extracted progressed save to the cartridge but then errors happen. Its cause of issues with legit vs bootleg, I know. I just wanna get it to work still.

Troubleshooting Pokémon Crystal Fix

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi all, wondering if anything about this circuit board jumps out at anyone that may prevent the game from booting after the "Gameboy Nintendo" screen. Recognises the cartridge just does not load the game. I have attempted to reflow all the contacts on the ROM chip and M1134 chip, as well as putting in a new battery (if a bit badly which I recognise and will fix). Any help is much appreciated.

I bought this broken gold Game Boy Pocket on Mercari a while ago, and it turned out to have a yellow PCB.
So I swapped it into a clear purple shell.
Not sure how I feel about this color combo… 😂
It looks kinda weird, but I also kinda like it.
What do you guys think?

I think I was mistaken, hah, the first game boy DMG ever launched to the market in Japan, was the one that came in a silver box (with earphones included), or the light purple box?

Questions Need help with custom gba screen

Thumbnail

Hey there, inexperienced person with my first gba here- recently, I bought this gba with an ips screen- I had it custom built by a seller and it turned out looking literally perfect and exactly as I’d imagined and hoped, other than one thing- the screen is a bit crooked, and it’s quite distracting… is there any way to fix this by opening it up, or would that be impossible without making some big changes that I wouldn’t want to risk as someone who barely knows what I’m doing and didn’t assemble it myself? If it is possible for someone inexperienced like me to do, what would be the easiest and safest way to straighten the screen? (there also seems to be a little dust under the lens, which doesn’t effect playing it, but I’d rather not be visible when I have it on display…)

Questions Actually white GBC shell in stock?

Hey all,

I picked up the ExtremeRate Great Wave shell which looks great (had some issues with button clearance but I think it was the Lab Fifteen buttons, not the shell itself). Unfortunately, as ExtremeRate doesn't make the kit to support things like Hispeedido's OLED panel or USB C batteries, cutting out the screen hole was a bear, and I did dent and mar the front a tiny bit. Yes, it'll bug me forever.

I picked up an HSI shell to just pair the back part with the front of the ER one, but sadly they're off white. FP doesn't have the bright white shells anymore, so who makes one pre-trimmed for the Li-Ion batteries?

I saw RetroSix's, but I know they're not exactly anyone's favorite retailer, so I'm hoping to avoid them.

Thanks!
