All Inclusive Resort or Local Hotel?
I'm going in november with my fiance and we're still deciding if we wanna do Sheraton Tokoriki All Inclusive Dining or stay in one of the hotels in Port Denarau and eat locally! Please help and share your top 5 best and must try restaurants!

Denarau is really kind of awful, at least that’s how it felt to me. We’ve been out to few of the outer islands. Tokoriki is great, matamanoa is one of my favorites, but the food is subpar, but the island itself is incredible.

What would you recommend with an 11 month old? Booked flights next May and was eyeing up Plantation Idland Resort. Hoping to get a dive in while the parents babysit.

We went to Plantation Island Resort this year and it sort of has a holiday park vibe to it, kids riding bikes around, playgrounds scattered throughout etc. A bit rustic overall. We got given a bad room at first (other side of a construction site with nothing really nearby and when we got there a group of employees were sitting outside the room on the hammock just hanging out, they said hi, and just carried on chatting to each other which was a little odd). They changed us without a problem but didn't give us any beach towels until like 6pm the following day. I would say the holiday started with mild regret but then we eased in to it and had some fun.
The buffet breakfast was a bit below average, fruit selection was like, apple, orange, banana and maybe a pineapple, you'd expect a few more tropical fruit. We didn't have the buffet dinner as we had only heard bad things, the restaurants were fine. We had some bad service at the bars etc, eg on our first day I went to one of the pool bars and asked if they had a food menu as I had seen others receiving food. They just said "No". After a few days I figured out that they do have one, they just don't serve food after 5pm - even though when I asked it was like 4:40pm.
Don't know that I'd bother to go back though. We had a 4 year old and grandparents with us. I think the place would be ideal if you have kids around 7-14 and they have friends with them. I think because we have been to some quite nice resorts before, it was just a step down - but that was reflected in price.
I imagine for some families, they would absolutely love it and go back every few years.

Tokoriki as an island is way more gorgeous than Denarau. There are restaurants at Port Denarau of course, but they are not really local - very much aimed at tourism from all the resorts on Denarau. At Sheraton Tokoriki you can go over and eat at Tokoriki island resort one night (needs booking) and possibly do a trip to cloud 9 or Monoriki or other islands. It's stunning out there!

How was the lagoon? I had friends that went there not too long after it opened & they didn’t love it.

Consider Octopus resort in the Yasawas.
We did this for 1 week in August. 12 people, 3 generations with kids 11 to 6 months. Amazing selection of meals which will not disappoint and are all inclusive. New Japanese restaurant opened this year with degustation menu. Amazing connections with the Fijians at Nalawaki village.
A perfect holiday.

Go to Tokoriki, Denarau is like any golf resort & is a bit of a yawn fest.
