Tech Help What buttons?
I was able to snag this chunky tank for 100 dollars. I hear a lot of people to switch out the base buttons, but I am unsure of what brand is the best.

Old one was getting pretty daunting, so here's a new megathread
It’s a controller reminiscent of the controls used in an arcade cabinet, generally featuring a joystick and multiple buttons. Most can be played on a lap, while some are heavy and large enough to warrant a table or platform underneath them. Using one over a standard handheld or console controller won’t magically up your game and they are largely preference. They are most commonly used for fighting games, shmups, run ‘n guns, and classic arcade titles. At their simplest, a fightstick requires an enclosure (usually made of wood, acrylic, or metal), buttons, a joystick, a PCB, and a wiring harness to connect everything. Additionally, all-button fightsticks that don’t utilize joysticks are becoming more commonplace on the scene.
This is largely a matter of taste and budget. Here are just a few options to get you thinking. Ask yourself what system(s) require compatibility. PC-only will be much cheaper than a PS5-compatibile controller, for example.
ENTRY LEVEL: Qanba Drone and Mayflash F500
If you go much cheaper than these options, you may sacrifice quality and durability. DO NOT GO CHEAPER THAN THESE OPTIONS.
SOLID LEVEL: Hori Real Arcade Pro N/4/V, Razer Panthera, Qanba Obsidian, Qanba Pearl, Hori Fighting Edge, Nacon Daija, 8BitDo, Mad Catz TES+ (and Razer Atrox for Xbox One players)
SOLID BUT $$$ LEVEL: Qanba Dragon, Victrix Pro 5, etokki Omni
At the end of the day, go with what feels right and fits your budget. There are lots of awesome sticks out there. If you really can't make up your mind, go with an Obsidian/Pearl. Really though, if you're still that on the fence, then you can also consider building your own. They come together fairly easily these days and it's super fun (though they will usually run at a higher price point than a stock stick unless you can easily get or make a suitable enclosure). Just more food for thought.

Price the sticks accordingly across the following websites. Most will be fairly comparable with one another, but occasionally one of the sites may have a deal going on.
Hitbox (for specialty, all-button controllers)
Mixbox (for specialty, keyboard-esque controllers)

Custom layout, custom art, custom JLF and Brook mount, custom squishy TPU base. Chassis design by RAF on Printables. All customization, art, and production by me.
I’ve always wanted an ASTRO CITY style stick and this was a fun one to do in that style. The stick and face buttons in this came back with me from Japan in 2009 and have been waiting for a project like this, lol.
The Panther v2 platform is just awesome, and RAF provides everything needed to make customization pretty easy.
3mm acrylic panels, laser cut on an XTool P2.
Artwork done in Affinity, printed at CVS, and cut with a Cricut.
22/awg silicone wire.
3D printed chassis parts are PETG-CF and PETG-GF.
3D printed base is Siraya Tech foaming TPU (70A).
Brook Gen5X.
Elegoo OLED.
Sanwa JLF (I’m back and forth between square and octo).
Sanwa buttons.

I’ll rip the bandaid off. I know nothing of fight sticks. But I really want to get my buddy one for Christmas completely custom. But I don’t know anything about custom covers or arts to what cards and software people use right now. Any and ALL tips tricks or help would be cherished and I’ll gladly give updates too!

Waited a few weeks for this order on Taobao. V nice, Qanba buttons instead of Sanwa. Replacing my ancient Mad Catz SF4 TE. Super happy 😁

If anyone has experience with both, would like to know the Pros and Cons of each and what should I get? I would like to play them on the PC all my Tekken and Soul Calibur games without waking anyone in the house, but would also like to know the feel and input lag for each.
Thanks!

SiTong Hitbox 2 i heard good things about this brand and I wanted mine to be white so I gave them a shot. It feels and looks great. It has RGB if that's your thing. I added some clicky switches to the movement buttons so it can sound similar to a lever because that's what i am used to lol
I tried it for a few minutes and I'm getting used to it faster than I thought I think because i am a PC player so the jump button feels similar to using a space bar, but man i am struggling big time with graplers lol

Basically I own a crown 309mj but it don’t fit all too well in my qanba drone 2. Ended up buying a sanwa jlf to replace my stick with but it don’t feel as nice as the crown. Found out the Otto dot v2 kit could help me replicate that feel? I mainly play tekken but I also sometimes dabble in sf6 so I’m not too sure if it’s too stiff for 2d fighters and not enough for tekken
I been playing on leverless recently but to be honest it’s not nearly as fun as having the stick feel and not being able to mess up inputs as easily

Just got the pc beastbox, and the only thing I can say that's its beautiful. For now I would alternate between this and my c16 but probably will main the hitbox.

ive bought Haute42 M Ultra Gen 2 from aliexpress and delivery was something like 8 bucks, which is normal price for my country. And it is still like that to this day for all Haute42 controllers. Now i wanna buy retro+ BOXONE and see delivery price more even that the controller itself, 175 bucks. Is it a bug or something? Other products costs the same 7-8 bucks for delivery, even hitbox zero which is also quite heavy metal controller from retro+.
if its a bug is there something i can do about it?

I broke one of my L2 cables on a Nacon Daija I got but didn't mind since I had an extra button cable harness from a different stick only to find that it looks like the Daija has its own proprietary 20 pin connector harness. After thoroughly searching I couldn't find any information or listings for a correct replacement, so coming to ask here instead to see if any other Daija users found a working replacement.
Worst comes to worst, could I just solder the cable directly to the button pin?

I’m looking to buy a new arcade stick that can work with several different consoles.
Ideally, I want something that can play Neo Geo, Mega Drive/Genesis, Dreamcast, and PS5 all with one controller.
I did some searching, and so far the TR Fight Stick Octopus Arcade Stick seems like one of the few options that can cover everything I need.
It looks pretty good, but it’s also a bit pricey.
Has anyone here actually used one before? How’s the build quality, compatibility, and overall experience?
Would love to hear some real user feedback before I pull the trigger.

Got this bundle for $190 including shipping from Mercari, what was annoying was that in the pictures, the White VSHG did have a missing rubber feet but all its screws holding the top panel were there and when I opened the box, there were only 3 screws that weren't tightly secured and a fourth that fell out of the box.
I plan to just replace the top screws with philips head identical screws and get screw in rubber feets with a gold ring finish while I toss in a simple PCB into the PS3 VSHG as a Brook Converter cannot fix the 3+ simultaneous input resulting in complete neutral.
Makes me wonder if the 3M top top screw kit from Focus Attack fits into the PS3 VSHG as it's designed just like the classic Hori Real Arcade Pro 3/EX models.

Just wanted to give a quick PSA in case anyone in the future ever runs into this issue.
Buddy of mines dog chewed up the ends of the cable for his Mayflash F700. I thought it was going to be a quick fix I have a stack of 5 pin JST to usb connectors in my spare parts bin from my Qanba 2009s. Well those didn't work and were reporting unrecognized USB device messages on Windows when testing. I took it home from a local to work on it, seems like Mayflash might be wiring their cables different than Qanba since popping in a donor Mayflash cable immediately brought the device back up and fixed the issue.
I went through all the Qanba cables I had before thinking about the possibility of it even being a cable manufacturer issue. The Qanba cable has worked on other devices like Brook boards so I assumed it was all universal wiring across all manufacturers. So that's a dumb on my part. Hope this helps someone in the future.

Was just looking for any advice regarding some recent pain that has crept up in my hands. Ive been using a t16 off an on for a year or so and ive started getting pain/soreness in my finger joints. Particularly in my left and right thumb at the furthest joint. I use those to hit jump with my left thumb and the lowest two buttons (LK, parry) in sf6 with my right thumb but ive noticed soreness in my index and middle fingers as well.
I use wind engine key switches in mine but i dont know if maybe its the feeling of the switch bottoming out but i think its quite harsh on my fingers. Im more than likely hitting them too hard but coming from arcade stick im just wired to kinda slap the buttons. Has anyone else experience such pain in their finger joints and did anything help you with it like different switches, ergonomics, or different setup etc?
