Question/Advice/Discussion Has anyone here used the Wuben G5?
We run a small tactical gear shop and focus mainly on premium, high-performance products that we can confidently stand behind. We're considering adding the Wuben G5 light, but before doing so I'd like to hear some real-world feedback from people who have actually used it.
I've heard that the G5 is quite popular, including among some military users — not as officially issued equipment, but as a personal EDC light. I'm especially interested in that perspective.
How is it regarded in practice?
- Is it reliable enough for regular/heavy use?
- Any common failures or weak points?
- How does it hold up over time?
- If you've used it in the military, law enforcement or a similar environment, how did it perform?
We're quite careful about what we choose to sell and don't want to add products that look good on paper but turn out to be unreliable.
So the main question: does the Wuben G5 actually live up to its reputation, and would you recommend selling it?
Interested in both positive and negative experiences.

I own a G5. I’d describe it as the kind of light that convinces you to buy it, but leaves you with a few complaints once you actually start using it. The light itself has some good features: * Convenient thumbwheel brightness adjustment * USB charging * 180-degree rotatable light head * RGB signal/warning light * Magnetic bottom * Rotatable pocket clip However, almost every good point comes with a flaw: * The thumbwheel brightness control isn't very linear—a slight turn causes a drastic jump in brightness. * The battery capacity is quite small and non-replaceable. * The head only rotates 180 degrees upward. If you want to point it at the ground, you have to clip it to a hat or figure out a way to mount it upside down. * The RGB works fine, but the white light is extremely cold/cool-toned with poor color rendering (CRI). * The magnet is relatively weak; it might fall off if bumped. * The clip feels very flimsy and doesn't seem durable. Additional observation: There are mounting slots on the light head and base that look intended for a diffuser or a tactical switch, but there are no official accessories available. I suspect these were pre-designed features reserved for a newer version. Overall, I think the G5 really needs a Gen 2 to fix these awkward design flaws. If an upgraded second-generation model comes out, I probably won't keep using or buying the first gen.

I keep one clipped on my backpack. To be honest, I mostly use it as a red aux light so I’m visible in thick fog and I seldom have to turn the real beam on. On the few occasions I do though, I have been pretty happy with it! Long battery life, decently light, pretty high output. Get it in the ugly green color it’s it’s cheap enough to be worth it

I keep a Wuben G5 on me all the time. Great flashlight. Small lightweight and very bright. Easily adjustable and can be mounted almost anywhere. It’s economical and well worth the money!!
