I must say that my wife and I really enjoyed this. I knew it was only one season but thought it was a one-and-done rather than it getting cancelled.

It’s a shame, I thought they did a great job with the cast who really nailed the parts. A few seasons more covering Harry’s death leading into Dexter moving into his apartment would of been a good place to lead into S1.

In the cabin instead of Lila. Let's say they used the GPS because there was just something very suspicious and they find Doakes imprisoned n the cabin.

How would it play out for each of them?

Ik people were angry that they killed off deb but tbh it was kind of necessary that Dexter understood that everyone he loved got killed because of his mistake and he wanted to avoid making that mistake with harrison and Hannah but couldn't get himself to suicide so hi survived but went away from everything

Book Doakes is rescued and does get prosthetics and a text-to-speech device.

The irony of Angel's death is the same as Doakes and Maria; they died because they couldn't leave Dexter alone. I feel like Joey would especially since he owes Dexter for faking that blood test.

Ik it probably just plot armour but it's too unrealistic to believe

After Dexter killed logan how could the police just decide to consider it self defense and ik because angela said that it was selfish defense they didn't think much of it but how can you let go your colleagues death like that and why wasn't their a proper case on Dexter?

Why would you kill deb just why, makes no sense, she was fucking recovering na, Dex lost his only family who had been with him from his childhood, and he would blame himself for what happened somewhere bcoz he let that mf saxsen go. Why didn't he kill him before man😭

Everytime he doesn't kill early, his closest one die.

Deb and Rita are the biggest heartbreak of this series for me😭💔 and the worst is they both deserved so much better after all they have gone through in life esp deb😭

I’m still confused on what this note means? So when she says we’re even she’s referring to him helping her catch curt Caldwell, but does that mean that she knows that he is the bay harbor butcher? Does she see him as a “necessary evil?” Or does she just not want to deal with him because she see’s how dangerous he is?

I just finished season 2, and I find it hard to believe that not only did they kill Doakes, but they also tarnished his name, and we’re still expected to root for Dexter.

I didn’t like the guy but damn he did not deserve what happened to him.

Without spoilers, would Sgt. Doakes’ name be cleared? Or am I going to be rooting for Dexter’s downfall for the next 6 seasons?

PS. fuck Lila. PPS. I didn’t know there was a book + this many shows just for Dexter, I started a long ride apparently.

Did Deb discovering her alleged romantic feelings for Dexter retroactively poison their sibling relationship for you? Or did you simply treat it as a temporary confusion in Deb's messed up emotional state?

When I first watched the show I remember thinking it was just a temporary brainworm and I never even thought she was having any romantic feelings for Dexter to begin with. But as I'm rewatching the show these days I just can't help but see some early signs that Deb might actually be having those feelings even before season 6. Ugh. I remember really liking their dynamic early on but not gonna lie, nowadays it makes me a little uneasy.

What's your reading on this storyline? Do you feel like Deb ever loved Dexter in a familial sense or was she in love with him all along?

Just finished season four and I cant believe Rita is dead. I was so shocked. But the worst part is at the beginning of season 5 when her kids want to talk to her and don't know that she's dead. I feel so bad for them, I had to stop watching for now

Every time. It gets me every damn time 😭😭😭 this was prolly one of the most devastating moments of the whole series for me and to the very end, was the one death I was never able to get over.
I’m rewatching the original series and just watched that scene again and omg 😭
Also pissed me ALL the way off, Masuka commenting about her naked. Even for him, that was low.

Anyway just needed to come to where I knew others would understand lol

I just recently found out the showrunners refreshed Dexter and binge watched New Blood and Resurrection these past few weeks.

Since it's a prequel with an entirely different cast I was pretty skeptical about Original Sin.

Wow... I was wrong. The casting director and actors did such a phenomenal job. You can really tell the new actors took a lot of time to study the original actors' speech patterns and mannerisms. Gibson got Hall's monotone deadpan delivery and that dark evil look down.

Young Debra was fantastic too with her signature fast paced combative delivery. Of course Batista was fantastic as well. Don't forget the hilarious actor that played Masuka... hehehehehe!

What surprised me most was LaGuerta. I've only known Milian as a singer so I was super surprised and impressed at her performance. She even sounded like Velez!

The only slight disappointment was Slater. He doesn't remind me of Remar's Harry in terms of speech or mannerisms but the writing made up for it.

Everything from the shooting locations, music choices and even period correct cars on the roads looked right to me. The showrunners did a terrific job.

It's just a damn shame it was renewed then canceled just a few months after. I'm sure the actors were devastated. If it did get renewed I do wonder how difficult/sustainable it would be for the showrunners to continuously pump out two different Dexter shows.

Maybe it’s done so we don’t lose sympathy for him, since sawing someone’s head off might make viewers a little less comfortable seeing him as the hero and a vigilante. But it’s always seemed a little… underwhelming to me? Especially considering he used to use a drill, a hammer, and other stuff. And he carries a whole set of knives around but barely ever uses it.
I mean, you know, a serial killer with a fascination with blood, and one quick stab is enough for him? I’m not sure how realistic that is.

I was just watching the episode and noticed that the dead girl is very clearly breathing

Of course she’s breathing, it’s a TV show, but I would’ve expected her to try to hide it a little, by like breathing more slowly or hold her breath for a few seconds. Here, it’s pretty obvious

Useless post of the month but idk i wanted to share that with atleast someone else, atleast i wont be the only one noticing it :D

I used to be, and still am to some degree, a big fan of the show dexter. I remember watching it for the first time in its entirety and enjoying it, even enjoying some of the later plot lines like when he developed a relationship with girl he saved from the barrel.

But im currently rewatching the show some years later and am currently at the third episode of the second season and though i’ve enjoyed some moments im critical of many of the main cast.

Deborah is a mess. She can’t hold a relationship. She is crude, always swearing even after kicking lundy’s suitcase, she gets with him too later crazy. She can’t help but leave a mess in dexter’s apartment despite him letting her stay with him. She always locks the top lock, so annoying i know that from personal experience. She’s too emotional. She pulled a gun on a kid, she got mad at Dexter for wanting to learn more about his biological father, she suggested for tucci to relive his trauma through the blindfold when they first saw him in the hospital. She has no life outside of her work and she idolizes her father to an unhealthy extent.

Doakes is a nutcase. I don’t think he’s yet to even smile yet. Doesn’t talk to his family. Isn’t even friendly with any coworkers. Chases Dexter down like bro needs to get a fucking life. He’s not in the military anymore.

Batista is cool. I can’t complain about him, great actor too. But when he was in the bar with masuka he was doing bad.

Masuka is forgettable and boring too. Literally just a clown no one takes serious that seems to only live for sex jokes and forensic work.

I liked seeing the maternal instinct laguerta showed the Spanish boy they found at the place Dexter killed the couple, and maybe if she was able to adopt him or something that would’ve been a nice path for her. But outside of that her disrespecting deb early on, openly flirting with dexter it was something. Her and doakes have a good relationship tho so that’s cool.

Harry seems to be recognized by the cops as a saint but he’s clearly a flawed person like we all are ofc. But trying to raise Dexter to be a killer instead of taking him to therapy like wtf😭.

I like how confident Rita is becoming. Her kids are kinda nothing characters, more plot devices if anything but rita’s transformation is nice to see. Paul sucked and im glad that he died in prison.

And ofc dexter is cool. I don’t like how he prattles to his victims like he’s better than them and acts like he’s a god. Or how he always monologues to himself like he’s in some fantasy show. But his awkwardness with Rita is funny sometimes and when the tension between him and doakes picks up it’s really compelling stuff.

All in all im still early in the series rewatch but it’s definitely not a breaking bad I’ll say that much. And the show was never gonna be great like some others at least narratively long before the let down ending. And it dragged too long and dexter should’ve had to make more consequential, lasting decisions and should’ve either gotten arrested or killed himself once shit hit the fan
