I wouldn’t say I’m into it, but I have a lot of it if you’d like some.

Why not have a bit of both. Sleep deprivation session and afterwards you eat their hole when they're unconscious.

u/AshtraysHaveRetired 17h ago
If someone tried depriving me from even more slew I would cut them down with no mercy or regret, for they were Clearly Asking For It

No one wants to poke the bear anymore
54
u/Thromnomnomok 18h ago
But would you rather poke a sleeping bear in the woods or a sleeping man in the woods?

Just so everyone knows, somnophillia is the kink of having sex with someone whose sleeping or unconscious (or sometimes pretending to be sleeping or unconscious). It's not about liking to be asleep. I cant tell if everyone's joking around or not

u/MrXuiryus 20h ago
How much will my mental health be affected if I google what this means...?

u/StarriestNight 20h ago
Somnophilia is a sleep kink basically, and there's controversy over it because even if it's consented to beforehand you can't revoke consent while sleeping so some people see it as unethical
115
u/Breki_ 19h ago
How do you sleep through someone having sex with you? I thought this worked by immediately waking up once anything starts, and then you can revoke consent
251
u/awk_topus 19h ago
I'll out myself a bit here in the interest of sharing some knowledge:
some use sleep aids or substances, some just sleep really hard. I'm the latter.
consent can be provided in a bunch of different ways. when I first got with my partner, we used an underwear system - green panties meant I consented that night. since we've been together for closing in on a decade, have established trust and our dynamics, I've never felt unsafe or unheard, and it feels good for both of us, I've given blanket consent.
as far as aftercare and safety, if I don't wake up during, they'll wake me after to go pee (boo UTIs).
76
u/Banes_Addiction 18h ago
I've given blanket consent.
Well, that's one word for it.
I guess my question would be what do you get out of it? Like, you're asleep, you don't feel or remember it. Do you tape it to watch later or something?

u/awk_topus 18h ago edited 18h ago
I'm trying to find a way to respond to this in a way that is informative but not, like, visceral. I've known others who film and enjoy later, but I personally find a lot of pleasure in both waking up during and the sensations when waking up after.
ETA: a little additional detail, I'm a service-oriented kinkster with a penchant for free use, so this slots into that. being a source of pleasure for others makes me feel great.

u/Asmodeus_is_daddy 17h ago
Chiming in! Being a source of pleasure for someone else is my main draw to it. I've given blanket consent to just, if they come home and need to get some of the bad day out, to just go ahead and, you know, pleasure themselves with me. Very very good, and very very hot

u/alexkay44 17h ago
Goddamn. I need to find a partner like that. This is so fucking erotic… something’s been awoken inside me.

u/Jirvey341 18h ago
Some people get off on servicing others. It's hot to wake up and realize your body was used by the one you love for pleasure
27
u/nudemanonbike 18h ago
One way to look at it is via Utilitarianism. You may not get anything out of it, but it doesn't take anything from you, either. So your net benefit is 0.
However, if your partner is into it, they might benefit greatly, so the overall relationship benefit is positive.
It tends to make more sense in long standing relationships for this reason.
It's also a way to not have to constantly turn down your partner when you're otherwise too tired for conscious sex, or if your libido is lower than theirs.
24
u/KitsuneFoxglove 17h ago
And also some people derive emotional utility when they know they've done net benefit to others, especially to those they have a close emotional bond to.

My ex insisted she'd be into me having sex with her while asleep. Every time I agreed to try it, she'd wake up like "no I wanna sleep" and that was that. Don't think we ever got past the point of me getting on the bed.
Then some time later she'd ask again.
Never proposed drugs though and I'd definitely never agree to try that.
29
u/ferafish 18h ago
I've known people who can sleep through being carried like a sack of potatoes. Some people are just... like that.
11
u/StarriestNight 19h ago
I'm not into it myself but I imagine some form of drug or sleep aid is involved
33
u/epsilon14254 19h ago
Sometimes. But thats where consent can get a lot more dubious. A safer option is just having the partner pretend
5
u/InTheTreeMusic 12h ago
Meh some people just sleep harder. I'm pretty into it, and usually I wake up a little, but it's much more drowsy, dream like, and sometimes I genuinely don't remember anything happening at all.
But yes, usually I'm awake enough that I could wake up more if I needed to say no. But I'm very open with my partner, so he always knows if it's a night where I'm feeling sore or not in the mood.

u/Iamsadabout2026 16h ago
If it's oral stuff you can sleep through it for a good while, but idk about outright penetrative sex
23
u/Forgotten_Lie 5h ago
The consent 'issue' collapses with the slightest bit of actual consideration. The entire medical industry functions on the premise that consent can be given while someone is conscious and is not automatically revoked when they are no longer able to communicate. That's how surgery is performed.
I can also consent to have someone perform a sexual act in my room while I am not present but that doesn't mean the moment I put my phone to silent and go to the movies while the act occurs it becomes unconsensual because I am no longer able to remove consent via further communication.
10
u/Ktamadas 2h ago
Also, if you're with a partner that you feel the need to revoke consent at the drop of a hat with, maybe somno isn't your biggest concern.
15
u/warmleafjuice 7h ago
Idk by that logic you couldn't consent to surgery under general anesthesia because once the anesthesia has been administered, you can no longer revoke consent
36
u/SwankiestofPants 17h ago
This feels like the "drunk people can't consent AT ALL even if they've been in a long-time loving and trusting relationship and know each other's boundaries already" shit fest from Twitter a few years ago
11
u/MoonTheCraft 19h ago
like, having sex while sleeping? or just watching someone else sleep? or sleeping, yourself?
78
u/LeftonRhed 19h ago
Having sex with someone who is sleeping. Liking watching someone sleep is called loving them.

Personally, I see it as borderline fine, functionally one step above hooking up after you've had lots of alcohol.

u/SomeNotTakenName 8h ago
Not super related, but there was an instance when my now wife and I were dating long distance, and we finally got to see each other, basically living together in a hotel room for the trip.
One night we did edibles together, but no sexy time was involved.
She must've had a bad reaction, because she was convinced we had sec that night. Like after we went to sleep.
So... somnophilia but nothing actually happened and the passive party is only imagining it, but imagining it as being awake..? is that the opposite of somnophilia?
Anyway, people should really be chill about what other people do.

I mean... It's relatable for me as someone who used to be into the idea and isn't anymore. Different reasons but mostly I'm just a bit of a grump now and appreciate my sex to happen when I'm awake and when i sleep i want to be rested for work. I literally go to sleep at 9pm just so i feel more rested. I don't stay up until 3am anymore.
But yeah, it used to be fun when i was learning about kinks as a teen and was hypersexual. Now life got in the way. And i had way too many sexual partners who tried their way with me when I was not fully there. It gets to you at some point

There is probably not a way to phrase "consent discourse has gone too far" without sounding insane so I'm just gonna leave it at that since I basically just said it anyway
46
u/ValoTheBrute 14h ago
The post is a joke because woke can also mean awake and somnophilia is a kink about having sex while asleep and thus if awake it cannot happen

...Probably not the best time to be talking about kinks where active and continuous consent are a bit murky.

Somnophilia is just not practical when you're an adult. Navigating everyone's sleep schedules, debating the ethics & dosing of sleep supplements & sleep aids, all the extra laundry etc. At a certain point you'd rather just sleep.
