Oh. My. God. This is AMAZING if I’m interpreting it correctly. This is the coolest card Paladin has got this year.

u/frostyburrito44 12d ago
Claybyte just said this on another thread, going to post it here, too:
For example, if you combine the top half of:
A. Iridescent Flitterwing
Elusive. At the end of your turn,
give your other minions +1/+1.
With the bottom half of:
B. Eredar Deceptor
Whenever you draw a card,
summon a 1/1 Demon with Rush.
The result would be the following passive hero power:
Elusive. At the end of your turn,
summon a 1/1 Demon with Rush. This would make your hero Elusive and summon a 1/1 each turn.
I hope this helps!

Are all deathrattles just excluded automatically? Cause they'd be rather worthless
8
u/EyeCantBreathe 12d ago
They said on stream that the pool for this guy is about 15 minions, so it's probably highly specific to avoid stuff like desthrattles or anything really crazy broken
5
u/mr_seggs 12d ago
What happens if you give your hero a Battlecry? Anything valuable?
13
u/frostedWarlock 12d ago
They made sure it can't give any hero powers that simply don't function, which means no battlecries or deathrattles.
9
u/mr_seggs 12d ago edited 12d ago
erm akshually deathrattles do function...simple combo:
Get [[Husk, Eternal Reaper]] somehow (spam Brightwing, maybe do Amber Warden into [[Cryofrozen Champion]], lot of random possibilities); play it
Play [[Rajh]], assemble an unmodified [[Gullible Guard]]
Die
You can say Sorry this game
1
u/t-slothrop 12d ago
Wait, so your hero would be elusive for the rest of the game? You just get that effect indefinitely?
20
u/frostyburrito44 12d ago
Actually one of the coolest legendaries they've ever made
I think it has the potential to be great too, anything has to be an upgrade over summoning a 1/1 and the fact that its passive is free upside
9
u/obvious_bot 12d ago
Going to need some clarification on this
19
u/PipAntarctic 12d ago edited 12d ago
It's hard to say and will probably be clarified in the stream, but I assume that you Assemble a minion, and then the text that you assembled is copied onto the Passive hero power.
So if you'd get, say, "After you cast a spell, destroy all minions." as the Assemble result, that would be your passive Hero Power. I do expect the pool for this specific Assemble to be even more curated than the base one because there are a lot of Battlecry and Deathrattle things that would not make sense on a passive hero power.
EDIT: This is more or less how it works. The Assemble pool for Rajh has no Battlecry and Deathrattle minions in it and is fairly small, but not too small to be consistent (I heard around 15 cards). Archmage Antonidas is one of the options which is fairly exciting.
5
u/obvious_bot 12d ago
As in, you don’t get the minion you just get the effect it would’ve had as a passive hero power?
8
3
u/NyMiggas 12d ago
Exciting but also im gonna be really annoyed if like 10% of paladin games you just become the best burn deck ever with unlimited fireballs
8
3
u/blanquettedetigre 12d ago
I hope the pool is reasonable because it will be horrible for both players if there are useless or broken options
9
u/EvilDave219 12d ago
Proto Pandaren || 2-Mana 3/2 || Epic Neutral Minion
After a card enters your hand except from this, give both players a random spell.
18
u/FlammenwerferIV 12d ago
Hmmm I wonder if this is a hint to monk mechanics
After a card enters hand do (x)
..like bouncing a guy back to hand 🤔
17
u/ForkThemKidz 12d ago
Shadowstep died for monk
12
u/jsnlxndrlv 12d ago
Ancient Brewmaster and Youthful Brewmaster crest a ridge above and declare for all to hear: "Did you think we had forgotten? Did you think we had forgiven? Behold, now, the terrible vengeance of the pandaren! Return to the hand! Return friendly minions to your hand!!"
4
u/mr_seggs 12d ago
I was thinking that Monk's signature keyword should be something like "meditate" that activates on returning to hand. Like you can imagine a card named like Pandaren Healer with "Meditate: Restore three health to all friendly characters" or something to that effect.
I also think Monk's HP should just be 2 mana "return friendly minion to hand," which might've been too OP for the game a while ago but imo should be alright now. Would make it an insane control/value class obviously, though I don't think that real grinder decks are ever coming back.

Oathbinder's Aura || 3-Mana || Epic Paladin Spell
After you cast a Holy spell, summon a Soldier with stats equal to its Cost and Divine Shield. Lasts 3 turns.
Holy

u/naverenoh 12d ago
Bro they're giving paladin a better millhouse than mage.
3
u/tinkady 11d ago
Huh, no body and only lasts 3 turns? This is much worse
1
u/TheGingerNinga 11d ago
Yeah, it being locked to holy spells only, no body attached, and a time limit makes this worse than Millhouse. But it may end up being played more than Millhouse due to the cards around it being better.
9
u/Glarbleglorbo 12d ago
Extremely good for the midgame, just losing a lot of tempo by playing this.
If sandfury aura can be played so can this.
1
u/BLOXLEmox 11d ago
Does this work on itself? Like, when you play it do you get a 3/3? Because that sort of feels like the difference between this being exceptional versus sort of average.
6
u/EvilDave219 12d ago
Amitut, Keeper of Amitus || 7-Mana 5/8 || Legendary Paladin Minion
Taunt. Battlecry: For each Holy spell in your deck, shuffle in a copy with Cast when Drawn.

Seems really slow to get going, even with the tutor cards from Emerald Dream. The taunt is nice but 7 mana is still a lot for an effect that can just not happen several turns in a row unless you specifically hold your tutors for it.
If there's a Holy spell deck this is far from the primary way it wins the game, and that's if there will even end up space for it. Equality, one of the best Paladin tools for slow decks, also has straight up anti-synergy with this card.
3
u/GothaV2 12d ago
My problem with this Pally package is that I just don't see how it's supposed to consistently win games, you can't tutor this and it costs 7, and after that you still need to draw in search of your cast when drawn spells, hoping to hit the 8 cost one and not some cheap targets.
I feel like Aura Pally will maybe add a card or two from this package, but not anything that will drastically change it, and Pure Pally feels iffy at glance alongside this.
I may have missed something but idk, it just feels like most built around options that Paladin has are better off without leaning into this Amitut package.
1
u/AshenPumpkin 12d ago
Shouldn't you be able to use the 1 cost spell from emerald dream to tutor out the cast when drawn spell? as they haven't started in your deck?
6
u/EvilDave219 12d ago

Seems really good but paladin still has no win condition that compares to other control decks, especially with MOTHER combos being in the game.
5
u/EvilDave219 12d ago
Lightcaller || 3-Mana 4/2 || Common Paladin Weapon
Lifesteals for both players.
14
u/frostyburrito44 12d ago
I can see it if there's a combo deck or a control deck building into a late game wincon, but in most decks I don't think this sees play.

u/PipAntarctic 12d ago
Appears to be a heavy control card in the vein of Lightbringer's Hammer. Which was mostly terrible.
This has pretty much the same effect, with only a minor benefit of removing armor but otherwise going face does nothing. So I'm betting on terrible.
4
u/inkyblinkypinkysue 12d ago
What? So you hit face and do 0 net damage? You hit a minion and heal your opponent? That seems terrible.
25
u/mr_seggs 12d ago
Well, don't play it in decks that are trying to damage the opponent's face early. It's obviously a control tool. There have been a ton of great defensive cards that heal the opponent as a minor downside over the years.
1
u/dotcaIm 12d ago
It's good for board control
0
u/inkyblinkypinkysue 12d ago
Yeah but Paladin is so far from a control class right now… maybe next year?

Sun's Reckoning || 2-Mana || Rare Paladin Spell
Deal 1 damage to all enemy minions. Shuffle 'Final Reckoning' into your deck.
Holy
10
u/PipAntarctic 12d ago
This is a Holy spell.
Any slow Paladin deck will 100% run this. Not only that it's great with Equality, but you can get out Final Reckoning on demand with Dragonscale Armaments or a Dreamwarden. Devs also mentioned Violet Treasuregill as a way to cast the Final Reckoning but that seems much less reliable.
Final Reckoning is just a busted spell. Basically a Stormfury on steroids.
-6
u/Glarbleglorbo 12d ago
Again, treasuregill + acceleration is too good to give up even if the latter half of this card is ridiculous
Also since this expansion is so control focused, a busted AOE might not even be that good.
4
u/EvilDave219 12d ago
Mogu Warmaster || 3-Mana 2/5 || Epic Neutral Minion
After you play a neutral card, your next spell costs (1) less this turn
15
u/frostyburrito44 12d ago
Assemble fodder, that back half at least is interesting though
13
u/sneakyxxrocket 12d ago
I think assemble is cool but making these bad cards just for assemble is annoying
7
u/Glarbleglorbo 12d ago
I mean this card could have the same effect but be 2 mana or have more stats, it’s ridiculous especially since these designed-to-suck-ass cards will be draftable in arena.
3
u/frostyburrito44 12d ago
I think it’s more okay for neutral cards like these, but them saying the 5 mana 4/3 in mage was made for assemble is inexcusable though. Easily could have been four mana . I have no issue with them using neutral cards to fill spots in card pools, that’s happened for things like discover since forever. but class cards is insane
2
u/blanquettedetigre 12d ago
Especially in mage !! I just tried to make some decks with the new cards but there are too many bricks once again
1
u/t-slothrop 11d ago
Coins are neutral, which is kind of interesting. Then again they're also spells, so you can't use multiple coins in a row for a bigger discount
3
u/EvilDave219 12d ago
March to War || 1-Mana || Rare Paladin Spell
All numbers on this card equal your remaining Mana. Summon a 1/1 Soldier with Divine Shield.
Holy
7
u/otterguy12 12d ago
Notably this is only the second possible 1 drop for Pure Pally which could make it important
2
u/mooocow 12d ago
I can't see any reason to play this card unless it is in Amitut Holy Spell deck and I don't think that archetype is going to work out right now.
Forbidden Shaping was better than this, because at least you had a chance to high-roll.
Also, the card name and effect make no sense together.

u/Glarbleglorbo 12d ago
Would be played if acceleration aura + treasurgill wasn’t a requirement, maybe in aggro next year.
4
u/EvilDave219 12d ago
Humble Judgment || 3-Mana || Common Paladin Spell
Draw 3 cards. Set the Attack and Health of any minions drawn to 2.
5
u/Solithic 12d ago
At first glance thought this changed the Cost of the minion to 2 too, but it doesn't so it's just decent draw that sometimes maybes your minions a little smaller. Or just ran in aggro as refill
7
u/Glarbleglorbo 12d ago
Seems really bad outside of aggro, makes your minions which are paladins strongsuit worthless.
Tbh I’m not even sure if 3 mana draw 3 with no drawbacks or stipulations would be good in modern HS.
1
u/Cryten0 12d ago
Seems specifically designed for 2's paladin.
1
u/prodandimitrow 11d ago
Looks to me designed for the new 7 mana legendary that copies all you holy spells with a cast when drawn effect. You play it and then play this to get some effects going. We have seen how strong cast when drawn are with draw with tripwire hunter.
0
u/frostyburrito44 12d ago
Likely sees play in a control paladin deck and not much else. I don't know how else they'd be drawing cards
5
u/EvilDave219 12d ago
Sundancer || 2-Mana 2/3 || Common Paladin Minion
At the end of your turn, get a 2-Cost Blessing that gives +2/+3.
4
u/PipAntarctic 12d ago
Another card that feels like it was made to bolster the Assemble pool rather than be played outside of Arena.
-5
u/Glarbleglorbo 12d ago
Another class gets control cards, I’ve yet to see a different strategy this expansion which is honestly pretty boring.
I think the dark horse of this expansion is leyline mage, it eats other control decks for breakfast.
12
u/PipAntarctic 12d ago
This was touched on by the devs on today's stream, the expansion is deliberately including cards for most classes that aim for a late-game playstyle to support the Old Gods, to make it easier for you to put an Old God into your deck.
It kinda makes sense from the standpoint of "we have these four expensive cards that are the new mechanic, and we want them to see some success." That does also mean you kinda have to push cards that deal against enemy boards for a lot of classes that struggle with doing that.
2
u/Glarbleglorbo 12d ago
I get the direction and reasoning but I don’t necessarily like it, StarCraft had late game hero cards while still supporting a variety of archetypes.
It also doesn’t make sense when you print a card like MOTHER that promotes OTK combos that undermine old gods as a whole. why should I play cthun when I could do the earthen drake warlock combo for more damage and less effort?
3
1
u/TheGingerNinga 11d ago
I mean, if the MOTHER combo becomes popular enough and Control decks become strong enough to handle the aggro decks in the meta, why wouldn't something like Dirty Rat come back?
The main issue with this standard cycle is that it's all been different flavors of aggro and midrange. Control was kneecapped and Combo was pointless. You re-add Control to the game, the board centric decks stop being the sole way to play the game, Combo gets a spot in the meta again.
You play C'thun or Y'shaarg or Holy Control Paladin instead of OTK Warlock because it has a better match up into other decks that may be more popular. Of course this could all be a wash if the Control decks don't perform better into the aggressive decks than the combo decks, but that's a different issue.
