Discussion Bomb Queen.

For those of you that have read it what did you think? I'm on my second attempt at trying to read this series but goodness its a struggle.

It reads like a 13 year old writing what he thinks a female "hero" should be and while I can handle comics that are crude in nature but man this one really takes it way too over the top.

I'm probably gonna push through to finish it but what do y'all think?

Question Does any body get to a point of regret or guilt to spend money or Buy comics?

Don't get me wrong, they are My favorite thing in the world and i love reading it but… there a time where i look of My months purchase, my bookshelf and i feel ashamed of all i bought and i feel that i could spend it in something more useful. I'm not ashamed of this hobby, and My family is not rich but since i was a child all My needs are well covered by My parents so I can use my money to myself or whatever i want. I don't know where this feeling start, i don't know it is the age, a normal feeling that comes and go but it something that hits eventually for a moment before going back to normal.

I wanna Know if this is normal or not, and how do You deal with it if You ever feel something similar

There are tons of articles coming out about it today, but if you really want to know what Jonathan Hickman thinks about Midnight X-Men, Ultimate Marvel, the Krakoa Era, and more, I highly recommend listening to Hickman's appearance on the Battle of the Atom podcast. It's a good one!

Suggestions Looking for "hope in dark times" type of books

I want books in which it seems the world or the place you live is going into a very dark path by its people's own doing, but the characters manage to find hope

Watching Lanterns got me re-reading Geoff John’s modern classic GL run, I forgot how amazing it was. What’s worth reading after his run?

I stopped after he left the comic, any writers runs worth picking up for GL? Except for Far Sector which I enjoyed, haven’t really heard anything good or bad about GL in quite some time.

What happened to Dark Horse and IDW?

I remember back in the mid-late 00’s they were fighting Image for 3rd place in comic book market share and sometimes even surpassing Image’s market share, now Image is a clear 3rd place (could potentially even fight for 2nd place one day)while Dark Horse and IDW market share are irrelevant.

I have a pitch for Marvel Comics re: Amazing Spider Man

Everyone loves Spidey's origin story--Peter, Mary Jane, Gwen, etc.

Toby Maguire's Spiderman movies weren't really based on any particular run but maybe a hodge podge of origin store, et al.

Going back to the original ASM books can be hard to read for younger generations.

The old timey slang and generational differences are on full display in those books.

What if:

Marvel rewrote ASM 1-100 but taking place in modern NYC?

Not asking for retcon of these stories, but just bringing them to modern writing?

Discussion What are some characters where you prefer an alternate version over the original?

You can be pretty flexible with how you view the word alternate, can be anything from Miles Morales and Absolute Batman, to Red Son Superman.

Edit: Preferably stuff that is based around the same character rather than just a different person. Like idk if Dick Grayson Batman is really what I had in mind for example. But something like Calvin Ellis would be more what I mean even if it isn’t Clark Kent, if that makes sense.

Help identifying Spiderman comics

I have a coloring book that uses actual comic pages/covers. I'm weird about wanting to see what the original looked like before I color, I'm borderline OCD I'd imagine. I managed to track down about 50 of the pages but there are 5 that I cannot figure out. If anyone knows the issue or can even just point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. It seems the most decent pages are maybe for 2017 or so but I may be wrong. But anyways any help would be appreciated

Seeking works with real philosophical/metaphysical weight — recommendations?

Hello!

I am looking to read works with philosophical, metaphysical, and/or existential themes. I would like something deep - enough to become a significant source of reflection.

For example, here are some works that have had this effect on me:

  • The comics of Marc-Antoine Mathieu (comics that are as metaphysical as they are conceptual, with for example "Dieu en personne"),
  • Berserk,
  • Full Metal Alchemist (relation to technology, existence...).
  • Homunculus (very existential),
  • Death Note,
  • Ikigami (mainly for the moral themes),
  • Kingdom (Political philosophy, history),
  • Evangelion,
  • Monster,
  • Bonne nuit punpun.

As you can see, it's mainly manga. But to be honest, the format doesn't matter much to me now, and I've opened up to graphic novels, comics...

(a small clarification, I'm not looking for comics about the life of Socrates, the history of Philosophy... but rather works that deal with philosophical subjects).

Do you have any suggestions? :)

The Amazing Spider-Man #1000/ #36, Barcodes vs print numbers?

I picked up most variants of this bumper issue last week as part of my pull list but I'm a little confused about the barcodes vs which print.

If I take Cover A as an example (Pepe Larraz), the barcode ends with "03611" which I would translate as issue 036|Cover A|First print. I think that is still true to standard barcode numbering but then I have quite a few that then follow: "03621; 03622; 03623" , then same with "0363X" etc. But they're all different cover variants. Can anyone shed some light on this and what will the second print numbering look like?

Thanks in advance.

Question Is lack of access the main reason why much of comic fandom tends not to explore comics as a medium beyond the superhero genre, or is it down to lack of interest or curiosity, or is it something else?

Not sure what I can add to the question in the title. I've been thinking about this in relation to my own journey as a comic fan because I'm in my mid-thirties now and realise I've been a comics fan of some stripe for most of my life.

I could phrase it more directly: if you are a fan who pretty much only reads superhero comics, is that because you're most interested in superheroes, you aren't interested in comics that aren't superheroes, because superheroes are what is most available and accessible, or some other reason?
