CDS has struck! Midnight kitty moved in uninvited!
So I'm unloading groceries and leave my door open while I go back for a 2nd load and return yo a cat making herself quite at home on my recliner. She looked a bit scruffy (and incredibly smug) and was covered with scabs so I took her to the vet. No chip and tested positive for FIV and the other one (leukemia). Fortunately I don't have another kitty to worry about. She has intimidated all 3 dogs, taken over my goose down pillow and refused to eat dry food. Her name is Gothic the Vorpaĺ Cat

She's very smoky and sultry. Beautiful clever girl! Thanks for looking after her so well 🩷

Lucky you!! Being the chosen one to train properly and supervise. She's already got the dogs done, just needs to finish you properly. Really tho, you're so lucky. Wonder how long she's been watching you? 💜💜💜

Actually it's kinda weird. The fat, we'll groomed cats that clearly have a home react to petting attempts with spitting, hissing retreats. Meanwhile plainly homeless kitty just loves being held. Also she's actually a black cat; she just appears Grey because of the dust and I'm guessing the hairloss.

She looked black to me. And that's cats for you. Which is why we love them. Looking forward to seeing her after you've given her lots more love 💜💜 She knows what she's been missing. And knows you'll give it to her.

If you didn’t want a cat why did you live your door open and a big sign saying “food inside cats welcome”?

I love this. People say cats are aloof but time & time again they know EXACTLY what family is going to love them. They ask us in a whisper "please love me"

Thank you. Sadly, FeLV is not a good news... I have two who also have FeLV and FIV. Doing fine for now. Heard stories how FeLV can strike suddenly and how it shortens life (avg 3 years after getting infected). At least she now has a home and loving human :)

The vet was genuinely shocked. She took the first test, then came back and took them again before coming back in and telling me the news. She said she had never seen a cat with both conditions. since the kitty is estimated at around a year she guesses either mom was exposed and passed it on or that Gothic got the immune system illness and it opened her up to the other one. Ah well, it's my job to take care of her and I think if I do a good job then maybe we can stave off an active, aggressive infection.
