Question Fafsa
My aid is supposed to disperse the 14th but I got an email saying I will be dropped if I don’t pay by the 13th? Anyone else have this problem… what should I do?

if it shows you are receiving financial aid then you won’t be dropped. it notifies them that you’re supposed to receive money to cover your classes. you’ll be fine :)

You got an email saying you’ll be dropped? This is my second semester and I applied for my fall classes in may…I haven’t gotten an email saying that. I know fees are due the 12th. What has the financial aide office said about it?

Yes it said if I didn’t pay my balance by the 13th I would be dropped😓 when I emailed again they set me up on a payment plan and i only had to pay 1/3 of my remaining balance. My financial aid originally wasn’t showing up when attempting the payment plan so I had to email to get it sorted out! Hope this is helpful !

Ah ok. So from my understanding your aid had already gone through and you had a fees left over? My first semester I was told if you had pending aide you were fine until you got the notification that it hit. If you had remaining fees than you had to either pay the full amount or get on a payment plan. If you have aide coming in that more than covers your fees you’re ok. Or at least I hope so in my case. My first semester Fasfa only covered 3/4th of my fees so I had about 750ish to play. I ended up paying two installments then the middle class scholarship hit and it paid itself. I didn’t even know that was a thing.

Ohhh interesting. Yeah my aid was pending but it was saying it wouldn’t disperse until after tuition was due.. super confusing. When I emailed they were able to set up my payment plan for my remaining balance rather than the full tuition amount that it was asking for on my end! I only received an email saying I would be dropped if I hadn’t paid by the date, nothing about a hold if I was pending financial aid!

Interesting, I had paid no mind to it until I saw your post. Your post made me panic and overthink and I had to double check the info I had on hand. It’s an screenshot explain it but for some reason I can’t post pictures in the reply. The amount I’m getting is supposed to be more than enough to cover things on my end however I am still slightly worried. I’m going to end up emailing them tomorrow when I get a chance. Did you email someone specifically? I currently owe 4k for this semester and the payment plan was 1.4k in 3 installments and I was like yeah that doesn’t work for me lol

Ohh you should be ok then! I just emailed the general financial aid office ([sfs@csudh.edu](mailto:sfs@csudh.edu)) I was more worried about my situation since my aid doesn’t fully cover tuition. I owe about 900 after aid. I was stressed that that would hold me back from keeping my classes. Originally my financial aid wasn’t showing in toropay so it was saying I still owed 4K instead of my actual total after aid

Ah welcome to my anxiety last semester 🫡, I hope everything works out and you get the middle class scholarship thingy! I don’t know how it works but I got it randomly mid semester. I didn’t touch Fasfa in Compton College so when I transferred last semester I was told Fasfa would cover me 6 years or 5 and a half years (I forget which) however my first semester they gave me very little aid. I figured get good grades = better aid so I got A’s and B’s and this semester I got better aid but again I’m not sure how it all works. It was explained to me but I over think and forget. What are you going into? I was a History Major but I switched to Human Services.

I ended up having to start a payment plan to avoid being dropped. The financial aid office said they were still reviewing my account : (

Email them, but I've talked to financial aid before and they told me in the past that they don't drop you as long as it's pending
