Scored 1 run, pitching staff fault

I mean, we faced one of the best pitching staffs in the league. Top to bottom, none of the guys they threw out there had a higher ERA than our best pitcher.

We forgot any plate discipline

Probably because they felt the pressure to out score the (likely) worst pitching staff ever on a playoff team

We also gave up 12 runs. Obviously our offense was awful in the 2 game sample but it's silly to imply that it's the weakness of our team when we had arguably the worst pitching staff in baseball this year and have consistently had poor pitching staffs during Jed's tenure

Onyl.gave up 4 in game 2. They aveaged 4.3 in regular season. So pitching staff in game 2 did better than the expectation

Our “ace” had nearly an ERA of 4 this season. This team could’ve beat San Diego 10-0 in game one and game two and I’d still bet a million dollars we wouldn’t sniff the World Series. This pitching will not get it done, objectively. You need good pitching more than good hitting in the postseason

100% Gave up less runs in game 2 than the per game average during the season. Pitching staff did better than expected for game 2.
Game 1 yes. But also in the history of MLB no team has ever won a game while scoring 0 runs.

Would’ve had a bye if they had a pitching staff, instead of playing a glorified play in game on the road

There’s literally no excuse for not hitting. They were mentally checked out to begin with.

The best offense in baseball has scored 1 run. Complaining about pitching isn’t it

Hitting and defence were great during the regular season, and then they disappeared.

I agree, but hitting is always hard to come by in postseason play....good pitching and getting outs is what gets you through to rhe next series
Getting outs needs good pitching

Pitching is awful. But hitting also carried no momentum or anything. But tough to feel like you’re in it when you’re immediately down early both games by numerous runs.

Had a chance in game 2. 2 on nobody out and a 3-0 count on Dansby. He takes a pitch for a strike then swings at not one, but two balls out of the zone for a strike out. Next time up and bases load he swings at the first pitch and flys out. A hit in both places and the Cubs win the game.

It genuinely takes a team effort to get beaten down so thoroughly in a playoff series like that. As bad as the pitching staff has been this season the lineup was an even bigger disappointment during the series. Remember the old saying there’s always next year

Surprisingly enough, the pitching staff was our strongest unit this series

12 runs and 4 HRs is pretty bad. I mean compared to literally zero offense I guess 😂

I guess some mfs just had pitching staff memes locked and loaded regardless of how they lost huh? The best offense in the majors put up 1 run in 8 hits in 18 innings. THAT is the story here.

And yet…the offense is about to put up 1 run in 18 innings
