General Questions Advice on burning a warrior/saboteur?

So currently for a new campaign I'm taking part in I'm looking to try out and burn a sort of hybrid warrior/explosives expert and was wondering if anyone can help provide advice for which lifepaths/skills to take?

Currently the DM gave us freedom to take 6 LP's, the only requirement being that we all take Noble Born as our first LP.

Appreciate anyone who can give advice on this!

Noble → Page → Squire →(Professional Soldier) Scout → (Outcast) Freebooter →Insurrectionist would be a reasonable 6 LP course. Scout and Freebooter both offer Appropriate Weapons or you could take Firebombs with General points. If you want fewer than 6 LP you could cut Squire or Insurrectionist

So kinda curious, but would power or agility be more important?

Cause it's obvious to me that sword will be my main skill of choice, but would lower IMS for more dice on the skill be worth it?

And is the Firebomb skill in a different book?

i'm fairly certain Firebombs are in the core book but I don't have my books on me right now to check (I'm using the Charred online character burner)

As for stats, in isolation +1 Pow is better for damage than +1 Agi, because you can just put an extra skill point into Sword (also, going from 4 to 3 will impact your skills but going from 4 to 5 will not, while each point of Pow affects damage). however, you also need to consider that Agi contributes to Reflexes, and +1 Ref is much more important than +1 Pow. Also, while its easy to make up for a single lost skill point, if you have, say, 10 Agi skills then its very efficient to invest in Agi for +1 to all of them. so its something you need to look at holistically

Firebombs is in The Codex. It's a Roden skill.

ahh, thanks for the clarification. I could have sworn there were bombs in the weapons section though, or am I also misremembering that?

Bombs are mentioned in the weapons section with an example of an iron-cased bomb. Throwing bombs uses the Throw Item action though. There are special rules for using bombs in Fight and R&C.

Firebombs is about making them.

okay, yeah, that's what I was thinking of

Also it sounds like Firebombs is kind of not super appropriate for Appropriate Weapons and might have to be taken via General skill points, but that's a question for OP's GM

Insurrectionist gets you Arson, which I would certainly accept as a viable skill if a player declared their character wanted to use an incendiary device.

but what if you want to detonate a barrel of black powder as part of a plot to assassinate an archduke?

Arson covers delayed burning, so I'd allow fuses.

Ultimately, it's a question for each table to decide what their situation looks like, so I could see games where Arson and Firebombs don't overlap—perhaps one is only for delayed burns and the other for flaming projectiles; but one can set a building alight with a Molotov so I could equally see a situation where the table decides they are the same skill.
