One time I was doing the Torgue dlc, went to turn in a quest and decided to look at the vendor. Perfect DPUH.

I have 36 hours in the game and haven't gotten a legendary weapon from any crate. Damn, what luck do I have?

I’m doing a BL 2 100% completion campaign now working my way through all the games building to 4 (already finished 1 with Mordecai), and the first time I killed Lee, he dropped a DPUH! I thought I got lucky and I did, but then fast forward to my True vault hunter play through and the second time I kill him, he drops another DPUH! Definitely lucky in that sense! Use that all the way to UVHM, then I hit a road block lol I farm him for 4 hours straight, and get like 20 UH but not the DPUH and it pisses me off, so as I’m about to quit, I kill him one more time and bam, get it! Moral of the story, I’ve noticed if you just go and kill him without farming, he drops it, but when you start farming over and over again it’s almost like the RNG doesn’t spawn them. Once you do get one though I suggest doing Pyro Pete’s bar, and farm it from the Torgue vending machine. With a DPUH and a Grog nozzle, I complete a round of the bar fight within a minute, and that’s on UVHM level 65 (where I am now). You need to do about 30 runs of the bar fighting to get the 613 tokens, so about 40 minutes total between running back and slight variations in killing the badasses which ends the round faster in the bar. Once you get one DPUH and the bar, on UVHM you’re set. Just keep which one you get first and every 10 levels go farm for a new one! You’ll be set for your whole game, especially if playing with Salvador like I am with this play through.

I have some legendary weapons to show off, but I got them from another player, and I also managed to complete the game 100%.

Hell yeah! What legendaries did you get from another player? And I’ve never actually done a 100% on BL 2 and I’ve been playing since BL 1 came out! I played Zero back in the day and got to 72 before the update, but lost him as he’s stored on my old 360. I also did a Kreig play through but got him up to level 52 a few years ago. Now I’m doing Salvador and doing every single side quest and DLC in at least UVHM. I’ve finished the first 2 play throughs without doing the DLC, so now on UVHM I’m doing all the DLCs first, will finish the UVHM campaign, and then finally I’ll be finished with my 100%! I guess technically it wouldn’t be 100% unless I do a level 80 OP 10, but I’ll just say that’s for fun as I’ve never done Digistruck peak, and I feel like getting to OP10 isn’t mandatory since it’s not technically apart of the story. Once I finish here, I’ll be moving to the pre sequel, then 3, then finally will buy 4!

Oh okay. Well I hope your play throughs continue to be as fun as your firsts! BL2 really is a great game and I’m happy so many people still play.

I know, unfortunately, I can't play it because I'm far from home. I loved playing this game.

Dang I’m sorry to hear that! Hopefully you’ll get to go home soon and play again!

That's fairly normal luck. Getting a legendary from a chest is quite rare. It gets better in UVHM but still not great. If you want legendary weapons you pretty much need to farm the enemies that have a dedicated legendary drop, generally this will be a 10% drop chance.

In this case yes, you do NOT need a Perfect roll Dpuh at level 7 in normal mode, you basically don’t have the ammo to sustain how much it eats up for a large portion of Normal Mode and it will be outleveled by the time you do.

You don't NEED a perfect DPUH at all. It is helpful for sure but there are plenty of great weapons in BL2 at every level of difficulty.
You are right it does consume ammo quickly however you also have 3 other weapon slots that can hold 3 different classes of weapons. Or you can use eridiuim, just found by playing the game, to buy a pistol SDU or 2. Not to mention ammo drops from ammo chests and even enemy drops are weighted towards the ammo type you have the least of.
So, the problem with ammo conservation is not a true constraint just use another type of gun until more pistol ammo is found.
The only time I would agree with you would be if the OP was doing a pistol-only run then the DPUH's ammo consumption on normal mode could be a bottle neck.
