Hi everyone,

I recently published my debut novel, The Wrong Translation, and to celebrate the launch, I've made the eBook completely free on Amazon for the next few days!

About the book: It’s a psychological thriller about a young woman who stumbles upon a cryptic, forgotten text. As she attempts to decipher the ancient history hidden inside, she realizes some secrets were buried for a reason and she accidentally triggers a very modern, very dangerous puzzle.

If you enjoy atmospheric thrillers, dark historical mysteries, or fast-paced suspense, I think you'll really enjoy this one.

Link to download for free: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HLSSG76X (Note: It's free globally, so just change the .com to your local Amazon storefront like .in or .co.uk!)

I'd be absolutely honored if you checked it out. If you do read it, an honest Amazon review would mean the world to me as an indie author!

Happy reading!

The High Crown trembles under the weight of its Queen’s ruthless competence. But when an unnatural black Ash infects her mirror, commanding her to poison her stepdaughter, the true nightmare begins. To refuse is to unleash a catastrophic plague, forcing the Queen to confront a chilling reality: an invisible, self-correcting mechanism known only as "The Story" dictates her fate, and defiance comes at a price measured in mass graves.

As her kingdom buckles under the plague's grip, the Queen unearths a hidden subterranean archive—the journals of previous queens, each condemned to the same horrific end. She realizes she is merely the latest player in a recurring, deadly drama, destined for the red-hot iron shoes that have claimed generations before her. This isn't a fairy tale; it’s a meticulously crafted cage.

The Story demands a villain, and she has been cast in the role. With civilian casualties mounting, the Queen faces an impossible choice: sacrifice her stepdaughter to satisfy the machine, or resist and watch her kingdom burn. Every move she makes is a step closer to her predetermined demise.

Can one queen break an ancient, ontological narrative? Or will her strategic surrender be her final, most dangerous act of rebellion, leaving a legacy of clues for the villains who follow in her burning footsteps?

Trigger/Content Warnings: Mass death/plague, execution (decapitation), torture references (burning iron shoes), claustrophobia/entombment, poison, and dark thematic elements.

Back in the day, I had sold a romance to an actual imprint.

This past year+ I've tried to be indie with varying degrees of success.

This week? I'm releasing my third contemporary romance.

To advertise, I've tried ads (I'm amazingly bad at it and keep having to look up CPM, CDR, CDC, yeah okay I'm making some of these up), I've tried giveaways (some success here). And, because I want to be able to do die on the hill where I say: I tried everything! I wrote drafts and hired editors and had human artists and even finally made an Instagram account, this month, in an attempt to promote my indie spicy romance, I attended a maker fair (I actually sold some children's books, long story), I'm attending a farmers market this weekend (where yes, I'll try to sell my spicy romance, because it was a promo idea someone I know pitched) and here I am, posting on reddit.

Reformed playboy. Small town (Lake Arrowhead, because it's where I lived during the pandemic). Single mother. One night stand gone wrong. Lots of banter.

This is my third contemporary romance.

It's spicy. (I say this a lot now because I had a reviewer who wrote that they didn't like reading the open door scenes. Yes, I'm still reading reviews. Yes, I know I'm not supposed to and it's terrible for my mental health.)

It's a spin-off (character was originally meant to be comedic relief and I got emotionally attached, I hear authors are allowed to do this).

It releases on Oct 8th, 2026.

As of right now, I have 13 pre-orders which, you know what? That's ONE more than the 12 pre-orders (thanks hubby, thanks my ride or die friends) I got for my second contemporary romance, so I'm counting it as a win.

Anyone else want to check it out? https://a.co/d/06iKdIlv

If your favourite tropes include:

🖤 Morally grey MMC

🖤 Protective/possessive hero
🖤 Praise & Daddy kink
🖤 Pierced MMC

Daddy Damon isn't a good man. He's obsessive, possessive, and morally grey in all the best (fictional) ways. He leaves anonymous notes, watches from the shadows, and when Sienna finally discovers who he is, the obsession only deepens.

⚠️ This is a dark romance, so please check the trigger warnings before reading.

For those of you who love fictional red flags and heroes who would burn the world for one woman... welcome home. 🖤

She has always wanted to write a book and has finally succeeded!! Her poems are very sweet and simple, often nature focused, and I'm so proud of her. I really want to try to get a few people to buy a copy on Amazon so here we go! Here's the link

On the world of Krythar, the frost is as ancient as faith, and machines breathe the Sacred Fire of the Iron God. Here, the Vimar is a God, ruling the Frozen Wastes with the power of His Voice. Yet every faith has its heretics, and in the shadows of the pale sun, there are those who whisper of a forgotten knowledge. Amidst rituals, betrayals, and scorching steel, “The Tribe of Vimar” is an epic of faith and machinery, of frost and blood—where the sacred is mechanical and sin is human. Perfect for fans of the bleak atmospheres of Dune, the industrial religion of Warhammer 40,000, and the tragic epic scale of The Expanse.

Free on Kindle from October 6th until October 8th.

I will make sacrifices to the Vimar for those who post a review 😁

My latest novel, One Witness Too Many, was launched this week on Kindle. This spine-tingling suspense thriller reveals how a beautiful young woman’s life dramatically changes after she witnesses a cold-blooded murder.

The blurb:

One glance. A face glimpsed through a store window. A killer who now knows exactly what she looks like.

Auckland IT specialist Nessa Carter has finally put her life back together. After being jilted by her fiancé on the eve of their wedding, she’s newly single, newly confident, and ready to face the world again.

Then an after-hours detour past a closed jewellery store changes everything. Through the store’s glass door, she witnesses a robbery that turns to murder — and in one heart-stopping moment, the killer’s eyes lock on hers.

He flees, leaving no fingerprints, no usable CCTV footage, no other witnesses. Only Nessa.

As the police investigation stalls, Nessa realises a terrifying truth: being the sole witness, she’s the only person alive who can identify the killer. Worse, he saw her clearly so she knows it’s likely he will be searching for her.

Her fears are well grounded.

With no leads, no suspects, and a professional killer who doesn’t leave loose ends, Nessa must decide how ar she’ll go to stop him — before he decides to silence the one witness who can put him away.

Because in this case, being the only witness is one witness too many.

I wanted to share a book project that has grown into something much larger than I originally anticipated.

It's called Verse by Verse: A Daily Devotional Through the Whole Bible, and my goal is to eventually write an individual devotional reflection for every one of the 31,102 verses in the Bible.

Instead of only covering major passages, I'm trying to work through Scripture without skipping anything. Major theological passages receive attention, of course, but so do genealogies, transitions, journeys, conversations, and verses that might ordinarily receive only a sentence or two in a commentary.

The project originally began entirely as a series of books.

Eventually, though, I decided that I didn't want someone's ability to use the material to depend on whether they could afford to buy the books.

So I expanded the project into a free website:

https://www.versebyversebook.com/

I'm gradually publishing the individual reflections there so that, eventually, someone studying virtually any verse in Scripture can search for it and find a substantial devotional reflection discussing its context, meaning, connections elsewhere in Scripture, and application to Christian life.

The books are still being produced for people who prefer reading in that format.

And this week the Kindle book is completely free on Amazon:

https://a.co/d/02tLbdNe

If you're interested in Christian nonfiction, devotionals, Bible commentary, or just unusually ambitious writing projects, I'd love for you to check it out.

And if you do read some of it, feedback is very welcome. This is a project I'm expecting to work on for many years, so hearing what readers find useful is genuinely valuable to me.

Hello,

This is the first time I'm writing in this community. How are you?

I've published my first book recently, it's a thriller about her girl who got her life ruined by a man who entered her life, claimed to be her biological father and kidnapped her.

It's all about the power certain adults claim and how they can turn your life into a living nightmare because they feel entitled to do so.

Disclosure: I am posting on behalf of the team involved in producing and organizing Shiji Sanguo.

Shiji Sanguo (168–280) is a historical narrative in Traditional Chinese. This post introduces that Chinese-language work, not a completed English edition.

It begins in the Eastern Han court in 168, before the familiar Three Kingdoms rivalries, and follows the choices of people at court, in local communities, and in armies through the reunification under the Western Jin in 280.

The work uses established historical research as its framework and reconstructs dialogue, actions, and everyday scenes as literature. Those reconstructed scenes should not be treated as verbatim surviving historical records; variants and major reconstruction boundaries belong in the book's notes.

For readers of Traditional Chinese who would like to explore this period, the official site offers a first-chapter sample and links to reading platforms. The sample is not the complete book, and the site itself does not take payments:

👋 Hi there! I am excited to meet this community and share with you the Kingsland Trilogy 👑📚

I'm new here and wanted to actually say hello instead of just dropping a link and vanishing. A little about me: I studied business at Loyola University New Orleans (graduated cum laude, with minors in philosophy and economics 🎓) and later went on to earn my MBA at Tulane. That mix of business and philosophy ended up shaping a lot more of my writing than I expected — I spent the next 20 years as an entrepreneur and consultant to construction, energy, and oil & gas companies 💼, and somewhere in the nights and weekends of that life, the Kingsland Trilogy came together.

It's a self-published political epic 👑 set in a world split into ten rival crowns, an investigative chase, the killing of one King's son, and all of the people caught between loyalty and the truth they're not supposed to find. If you like slow-burn power struggles, morally complicated royals, and a "who can you actually trust" kind of mystery, it might be right up your alley. 📖

Mostly, though, I'm just happy to be part of this community and get to know some of you. If anyone's working on their own promo, or has advice for a first-time indie author figuring this all out, I'd genuinely love to hear it. 🙏

Thanks for reading this far — hope to get to know you all! ✨

Countless "truth is stranger than fiction" tales, 177 magical concerts, 100 unique bands, 50 years of finding a way to the next show, and 10 Rules Of The Road all add up to 1 ordinary guy's extraordinary love letter to live rock & roll.

And now, the book with a 4.4 star review on Amazon just got even better - welcome to the updated and expanded 2025 edition of TEN RULES OF THE ROAD I LEARNED AT MY FIRST CONCERT: AN ORDINARY GUY'S LIFETIME OF LIVE ROCK & ROLL!

The new edition is 550 pages, with over 250 pages of brand new content including:

• updates elements to every section of the book – the rules, the essays, the concert summaries, and the statistics.
• more tales from my 20th century concert adventures that I dredged out of my memory that didn't make the first edition
• details of all the shows I’ve attended since 2021, after the first edition was published, until today
• complete re-writes of Rules #2, #5, #6, #7, # 8 and #10, as well as the Grateful Dead essay, have been almost completely re-written.
• consolidating the Song Selection essays from three to two but adding more songs to each remaining chapter in the process, doubling the number of tunes covered from 40 to 80.
• replacing the discarded song essay, with a new one about the relationship between rock & roll and Broadway, a unique pairing that only really came into focus for me in the last year or so.
• adding numerous new charts/tables to the statistics section
• quadrupling the number of setlists from shows I attended.
• re-editing the entire book to clean up some areas that either seemed cumbersome or didn’t flow well
• reformatting the entire book to give it a more professional look and feel.

It's bigger! It's  better! It's the perfect summer read for the rock & roll fan in your life!

I’m N. Fakhr, the author of The Physiology of Faith. I’ve made the complete English edition available online for free.

This book began with a question that fascinated me:

What is it about the human brain that makes religious faith possible—and why can that faith remain so resistant to contradictory evidence?

Humans readily revise many beliefs when experience proves them wrong. Religious faith, however, can behave very differently.

To explore why, I brought together findings from psychology, neuropsychology, sociology, and behavioral science—not primarily to ask whether a particular religion is true or false, but to investigate the mechanisms that allow faith to form, spread, become reinforced, and protect itself from doubt.

The book examines theory of mind, preparedness to believe in supernatural beings, sacredness, rejection from the group, choice blindness, optimism bias, mystical experiences, out-of-body and near-death experiences, memory, dreams, miracles and the placebo effect, pattern recognition, obedience to authority, childhood religious education, and the influence of religious authority on believers.

It also asks a broader evolutionary question:

Did the capacity for religious faith evolve because faith itself benefited Homo sapiens—or did faith emerge partly as a by-product of cognitive traits that evolved for other purposes?

And finally: even if religion once helped human groups become larger, more cohesive, or more competitive, does it still provide the same advantages in modern societies?

The complete book is free to read and download. No purchase is required.

Sharing my wife Jeanne Vaughan’s book, Pam Finds Her Way Home: A Read, Blend & Color Story, the first in Pam’s Adventures. We work together as a team. Jeanne developed the story, theme and structure, and we used AI assistance in creating the book.

Pam is a little fox who follows a dancing leaf and loses her way. She waits and calls for Mom, who follows her pawprints and brings her home.

It is designed for ages 4–6 who recognize letter sounds and are beginning to blend short words. A grown-up reads the story while the child blends one highlighted word on each of the 20 illustrated story pages—words such as sun, log, sit, mud and hug. The pages also have roomy coloring spaces, colored outlines and eight-color reference dots. A grown-up reading guide is included.

Paperback on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HLY6NX4M

The listed price is $12.99. Pages are 8.5 × 11 inches; crayons are sold separately.

Amazon.com: Fated Bullet: 9798173520432: HEWWING, RION: Books

At its heart, Fated Bullet is about whether we are controlled by the paths our lives put us on or whether we can still choose what we become. Magnus and Fate are both shaped by violence, loss, and the choices they've made, but in very different ways. The story tests the pull of revenge and hatred, but it also puts love through trials of its own. Love isn't presented as an easy answer that simply overcomes everything else. It can demand just as much strength and resolve to hold onto, especially when circumstances give someone every reason to abandon it. Promises made to others, promises made to ourselves, and the person we choose to become can all be challenged by what happens along the way. Ultimately, the story asks whether we have the resolve to remain true to those feelings and choices when they are tested at their absolute limits, or whether we allow what happens to us to decide our fate instead.

If you are tired of crime thrillers written from a distance, dive into Iron Noir. Written by an Eastern European author, this novel is built on a rare, firsthand insider perspective: years spent as a military veteran, special operations/state security trainee, and motorcycle club president starting from the early 2000s.

Set against the volatile backdrop of the 2000s Budapest underworld, the story exposes the dark, heavily silenced intersections where political corruption, state secret service infiltration, and street-level organized crime collide.

Grab your free copy on Amazon through October 9 and experience a gritty world walked through firsthand.

One simple request: Once you finish reading, please drop an honest review—whether positive or negative. Every bit of feedback matters immensely for an independent author.
