Discussion Booted up the game, started up a mission, saw this, and then closed the game.

Idk if its just me but i feel like they've been missing their mark with this series. I play call of duty because I like modern and WWII combat. If i wanted to play dishonored, ill play dishonored.

Even the zombies mission was a bit too much for me. (although it was lowkey fun, I still have more fun shooting at human enemies).

But yeah, can we please go back to the tacticool shit and none of this sci-fi fantasy stuff?

The numbers Mason.

The furthest they should have strayed from the original story ideas. I'll take having ptsd hallucinations over whatever the fuck happened in BO3 and again in BO7 any day of the week.

god please don’t compare BO3 to BO7, the issue with BO3 was that they told it in a way where you have to pay attention to literally everything in the game including the scrolling texts to figure out what’s going on. A coherent story is there, just hidden.

Nowhere near as good as BO1, 2 or even Cold War but it’s experimental at least, a miss for most players but rewarding for those invested. There was actual passion there. BO7 is just AI slop.

Titanfall happened, and in their desperation to get in on the new sci-fi omnimovement jetpack BS that started in 2014, they lost the plot. Atleast i got the balls to call it what it is and not hide behind the supposed "vision" for the subsequent titles. I played BO3 and i did enjoy it but i didn't think it would change everything like it did back then.

ooh look at you, so brave for essentially saying jetpack cods bad 😂 it doesn’t take balls to share the majority opinion.

I was making a point get it through your thick head.

u/JordieP301 6d ago

not saying you weren’t, i just find it funny that you think sharing the same opinion as the majority of the fanbase means you have the balls no one does. you’re not special for saying the jetpack cods lost the plot.

The only good Black Ops campaigns are Black Ops I and Cold War.

And 2 and 3 👍

Not a big fan of the futuristic combat.

I swear people complain about cod being the same every year. When they change it up people still complain. Can't win can they 👍

It’s a black ops game…what were you expecting?

3

u/GrandBurial 6d ago

It used to be grounded.

0

u/Ice5530 2d ago

Yeah cuz bo1, bo2 and cold war, a game from 2020, weren't grounded?

0

u/BigDankerino 2d ago

Was expecting cold war levels of campaign. Was extremely disappointed.

"I play call of duty because I like modern and WWII combat" okay so why are you playing black ops then?? this was like the worst COD series to pick for that bruh

The funny thing is they don’t even continue the cliffhanger or the mystery of harrows story in BO7

Yeah I’m thinking a lot of commenters are the younger gen z crowd that have nostalgia for black ops 3 or something.

Black ops 1 wasn’t THAT sci fi it just had the brainwashing stuff, there were no “surreal trippy levels” like this game. World at war and BO1 were still pretty grounded.

I never played black ops 2 through 4 because the futuristic stuff doesn’t appeal to me.

Black ops 2 keeps the grounded stuff to a point as it flashes through bo1 themed levels and some future-esque levels. Not to futurey and awful either. Coming from someone who grew up on of mw and bo1 being my favorite cod.

Yeah no i honestly blame black ops 3 for this

It feels like whenever treyarch doesnt feel confident in their campaigns they do away with the grounded feel & just try to go batshit crazy with visuals to atleast try to keep you hooked

And it works sometimes, but sometimes you’ll end up getting stuff like this & the entirety of black ops 7

This, 110 %.

I get the whole “Guild got their hands on the Cradle and releasing toxins so then they have a reason to keep selling weapons for ‘safety’ reasons” approach and making the Guild upon the few villains to be focused purely on profits in the COD universe, which for every time that happened I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s still weird that it happened twice. Aight now that I’m done joking, Raven really needs to stop taking control of the campaigns and let Treyarch take back over. The campaigns have gotten progressively worse since Raven took over making campaigns with this one just being, depending on your stance on BO3’s campaign, the second worse Treyarch campaign out of mostly bangers. Yes Cold War’s and BO6’s were great to decent depending on who you ask, and the reuse of the Cradle was interesting, but when you turned Woods into a fuckin’ flower boss and Harper into a colossal monster for a boss fight then that’s when you just really lost myself and so many others.

Quick edit: I like the rest of the game, zombies was fire this year and MP is still okay even after the fucking up of matchmaking in Season 5

they shouldve just continued davids story after bo2 now we got dogshit bo3 and the bo6-7 storyline with different actors, to me cod has been trash since bo3

“I still have more fun shooting at human enemies” is wild

1

u/BigDankerino 2d ago

Don't worry, any normal person has the same reaction. Bo6 campaign was terrible.

1

u/Bublex246 7d ago

Why do you care dawg

1

u/F1shB0wl816 7d ago

You want modern or ww2 yet picked up a game that’s neither and is known to go off the rails with brainwashing and mind control and has from the first entry. Go play the tacticool entrees and stay in your lane.

1

u/Spookscareguy 7d ago

It's a black ops game?

0

u/LowestTier 7d ago

The Black Ops franchise has been "out there" when it comes to campaigns since the first one. Brainwashing, split personalities, seeing ghosts... yeah... I think you kinda knew what you were getting into when you booted up Black Ops 6.

1

u/BigDankerino 2d ago

You're just straight up wrong

1

u/LowestTier 2d ago

Care to explain? Sure, the first one two might be the most grounded. But then explain BO3, CW, 6, and 7?
Black Ops is my favorite series in the franchise. But even I can agree that Modern Warfare has always been more grounded, albeit Hollywood style.

0

u/JordieP301 6d ago

you want tacticool? go play Modern Warfare. Black Ops has NEVER been that, it’s always been sci-fi fantasy, spy thriller or a mix of the two.

2

u/Hentai_Yoshi 6d ago

Black Ops has never been that way? You never play BO1 or BO2?

1

u/JordieP301 6d ago

I should be asking you that. BO1 and 2 are nothing like Modern Warfare
