Bought BTC at $109k and feeling the boredom. What's your long term strategy right now?
Btc is a bitch

I mean, what did you expect? It’s not a toy. Buy and forget, like any other asset you plan on holding long term.
12
u/michelhadorn 11h ago
That’s the whole point. Buy and forget only works if you actually forget. Checking the price every quiet week and calling it a strategy is how people sell the thing they meant to hold.
5
u/ComasArentFun 11h ago
Eh I check it daily for funzies. But price action doesn't dictate any of my actions
Been holding for a few cycles nowBeing hyper focused on price is only a bad thing if you allow it to force your hand, because then you're likely to lose out or screw it up through panic
3
u/Ark3tech 3h ago
One of the things that gets you hardened real quick is round tripping your bags a few cycles and getting through the muck to become net positive. If folks can make it through that with Bitcoin, they can make it through anything.

Why are you taking time to comment instead of playing the other side if you have it figured out lol

Tulip’s don’t have permanent scarcity, you can always grow more

This is why you never fomo in. DCA always. If it goes down significantly, then add more, if it goes up a lot, reduce the amount. If you go all in, this can happen. I wouldn't worry because it'll get back to 120k eventually but yeah, you've learned the lesson
4
u/Imaginary_History985 11h ago
It can rip right when you start DCA in. Would then lose a lot versus lump sum in. It's impossible to know.
0
u/EdenaRuh 11h ago
Long term, DCA is the most effective method. When looking back in time you may think "oh man, if I had lump sum at this time, I'd have more profits now", but when you go in blind, DCA is the safest and most profitable method.
3
u/getwhirleddotcom 10h ago
It’s really not though. Time in is far more effective long term than DCA.
2
u/Imaginary_History985 2h ago edited 2h ago
it's statistically proven that lump sum outperforms DCA most of the time, investing same amount for both.
12
u/Successful_Pin_2641 11h ago
Could have bought at 60k and been in profit. Dca now?
3
u/AffectionateYam624 11h ago
Rule #1 always DCA no matter the price. Bought at $2k, $3k,$10k. $20, $50k, $60k,$70k $80k.,$90k,$100 k even at $120k. Luckily the biggest buys were in the beginning.
-1
u/Public-Lingonberry-2 11h ago edited 11h ago
Yes, I bought too much at 109k, so I have been doing dca $100/day, which has not helped much
17
u/MeditativeCarnivore 11h ago
You've got 3k/mo to throw around and you're worried about a price dip? You're doing better than 99% of people.

Buy every Thursday afternoon.

u/Public-Lingonberry-2 8h ago
Could I understand the reason?
3
u/BrutalTea 8h ago
Based on looking at the charts for 6 minutes I determined that to be the average low point of most weeks. So basically nothing.
2
u/Public-Lingonberry-2 8h ago
Can please I have your time zone as well?

I’ve been purchasing $1k of BTC weekly since 2022, regardless of the price! Holding for my daughters future

u/N1tr0sOx1d3 11h ago
Lovely sentiment. Your daughter is very fortunate to have such a wonderful father.
3
u/JimmySki6166 10h ago
Thank you. I do what I can for my daughter, being a single father for 21 yrs now.

You are either the investor that buys the hype or the investors that buys the boredom.
Only the latter one makes money.
3
3
u/michelhadorn 11h ago
Boredom is the strategy. You bought a volatile thing and now it’s being volatile.
If the plan was years, nothing changed because the price is dull. If the plan was “it only goes up from 109,” that was the mistake, not the week. Decide the amount you can leave alone, leave it, and stop checking. A new strategy every quiet month is how people sell the bottom and call it discipline.
3
u/idliketoseethat 11h ago
DCA. You could be buying Bitcoin at $84,500 right now and bring your $109K entry down.
3
2
u/Equivalent_Ranger753 11h ago
It’ll be okay, when I bought my first few thousand dollars of btc in 2021, I didn’t realize how close to the top I was buying. Now those entries are below this year’s absolute bottom. Just dca
2
u/WISE_MAN_FROM_mars 11h ago
I find learning about btc a cure. Go down the rabbit hole. Slowly the t becomes silent

u/Jason-Wander 10h ago
Back when it jumped to 50K, I bought a bunch. Then watched it drop to 20k. I unfortunately didn't buy more at the drop, but thankfully held what I had.
Now I just DCA and don't look at it.
2
u/low_contrast_black 10h ago
Buy, hold, pay attention to other things.
It will get exciting again. But kinda like baseball, you spend a lot of time hanging around for a few juicy moments.
2
u/PikaBanee 10h ago
Been holding for 6 years shut up. Buy on the way down and lower your cost basis you nerd

Please describe your reason for entering at 109k, and your potential exit plan at that time. Please also define "long term".
2
u/stonktradersensei 4h ago
DCA. Whether it's 120k or 70k.. it will average out in the long run - is the mentality . And You don't want to buy when everyone's excited
5
u/Dazzling_Marzipan474 11h ago
Honestly just sell it. You're too impatient for Bitcoin or any investment
2
u/Fearless-Sherbert-40 11h ago
Slow money or no money. Am gonna need about 10 more bull bear cycles before I can retire. I got nest egg money, but if bitcoin breaks its ATH anytime soon, we sure ain’t cashing out. Pretty much I need Bitcoin to hit $1 million, and even if it did, I would probably hold out until $10 million. My time horizon is 20 years.
1
u/AffectionateYam624 11h ago
When it hits $500k selling a half coin, 1 million sell 1 coin and keep the rest for my kid.
4
u/TheresNoSecondBest 11h ago
Bought BTC at $109k and feeling the boredom.
I bought BTC at 120k. Also at $110k. Also at $100k, and $90k, and $80k, and $70k, and $60k and not feeling any boredom at all.
What's your long term strategy right now?
To buy some sats at $1m. Also at $10m, and $100m...

This isn’t really the investment where you buy it and sell during the next bull run or 5 years from now.
Its long term goal should be to use it as currency or at the very least an alternative currency to cash. As of today 5 bitcoins is equivalent to a newer home in Canada. Idk the US.
But eventually I believe that .5 of a bitcoin will be equivalent to 1 house in Canada.

I hate making money so my strategy is to sell out as soon as I start breaking even while the whole market goes up without me.

Keep dollar cost averaging until we're near the next cycle top 3 years from now.

I would just keep holding, in the long term I want to always hold 1 or more whole coins and only trade with any stats above a whole number.

u/Sea_Cardiologist_339 10h ago
If you are bored then it means you are investing correctly. Long term strategy is DCA and check back in years

Einfach 2. Einstieg machen so hast du wenn es wieder steigt rote und grüne Zahlen. Falls es noch weiter fällt sollten Antidepressiva dir über die Zeit helfen. ;)

u/DropKikMonkey 10h ago
If you bought $100 at $109k then another $100 at 60k your new average would be ~$77k, you’d be in the green rn.
1
u/Beachbum74 10h ago
Long term? After I’ve exhausted my 401k/roth and I’m pretty old then I’ll draw from it or just pass it along to my kids.

Relax and buy the dips, don’t buy green candles, have usdt to buy red candles. Wait, have a plan to sell and make profits, and buy more red candles

I made the same mistake but I sold when it dropped to 85k, then bought back when it dropped to 60k. Knowing when to stop loss is important.

Don't think about BTC, think about how to increase your income. Btc isn't going to make you rich, its going to help you get there.

Don't watch the bitcoin price. Just pretend it's your life savings and don't touch it

u/Neat-Finger197 2h ago
Don’t get too excited/cocky when you’re well in profit, and don’t get bored/depressed when it falls below your cost basis. Because…it’s a savings technology. You hold it long enough and you’ll be handsomely rewarded.
1
u/Icy_Dragonfruit__ 1h ago
Keep stacking and just keep DCAing, focus on the long game instead of watching every move.
•
u/toddycoin 43m ago
Option 1: Add more at lower prices if you can afford to invest some more.
Option 2: Dont watch market until April 2028
•
u/Strict_Tumbleweed415 27m ago
Dang best to panic sell everything and buy more when it’s at the next high

Once it held $5 I knew it was actually working.
1
u/DiamondHandsDarrell 10h ago
Honestly i gave btc away at 300 because i didn't believe someone would actually send me for it lol

u/Dwaltster 11h ago

You cannot spell bitch without btc. Anyway I buy bitcoin all the time and $109k is nothing. I have some $125k bitcoin that I’ll look at in ten years.

u/WAIFU4LYFE1 11h ago
Btc a network that holds fiat dollars is a bitch because u bought at all time highs ok 👍

u/therealcoppernail 11h ago
I am gambeling with altcoins and try to make some Money during the bullruns. My Bitcoin stays and IS never beeing sold what so ever.

u/RhubarbSubstantial74 11h ago
That’s something I was wondering who bought over 100k, all you can do is hold I guess
4
u/quintavious_danilo 10h ago
Buy more, average down.
1
u/powerguy134 9h ago
Smart people realize this, the rest are hopeless brokes.
2
u/quintavious_danilo 9h ago
Yeah, most people freeze when they see red on their investments but that’s usually the time when money is being made. You cannot stop investing and wait the dip out when buying the dip is the only way to make it in crypto.

Embrace the boredom. Buy more sats at a discount. Properly chill.
